How canon are the Hildibrand quests to your WoL's story?

They happened. All of them.

I enjoy the Hildibrand quests far too much to not include them in Vahloh'ir's story. Currently, the various Hildibrand quests are in a bit of a 'limbo area' with regards to the timeline, where they don't really fit in the space between other MSQ/Raid/WoL-story events, but they are canon events all the same. As it stands now, only the main three WoLs in the story (Vahloh'ir (me!), Niya (@official-nephew), Wyzngeim (@catboyselsel-ffxiv)) actually take part in most of the Manderville events, with the other characters being informed after the fact.

It's a source of debate on if Vahloh and the others are playing up this 'Hildibrand' fellow or making him up outright, until my friends and I decide to properly reveal him to the others. When will that be? Who knows? Not me (yet). We'll see how Dawntrail plays out.

In The Background: Divine Lexicon

For the first of the afore-mentioned 'background' characters, I present to you Divine Lexicon. A very... unique problem for any aspiring hero.

A Hellsguard woman who thought to make a name for herself in the literary world. Specifically, the one she chose for herself, hoping her vivid words would translate her historical fiction to the wider world. Unfortunately, her first series, Vibrant Blooms in Ala Mhigo, was met with a lukewarm reception, with critics stating that, for all of her incredible imagery, the plots themselves became either incoherent or rather bland, with little room in between. The titular character of Vibrant Blooms suffered from having a less-than-interesting characterization, whilst also overshadowing the rest of the cast, including the royal family of Ala Mhigo. 

Choosing to be motivated by the news, Lexicon would continue to write, with each story selling enough copies to keep her afloat, and in good enough standing with her publisher. One day, she accidentally released the story Blooming In The Mist, a fiction involving Vibrant Bloom working with the legendary Mistbeard, with a considerable attention to a more "romantic" association. This ended up becoming something of an instant hit, especially in the region of Vylbrand, where much praise was given for the characterization of Mistbeard himself, as well as Lexicon’s usual vibrant imagery. 

She hadn’t actually intended to submit that work, as it was a private text that she worked on in her spare time. Upon seeing its reception, she doubled down, focusing on smaller, romance-focused tales, as opposed to her multi-volume historical fictions. After the Calamity, she saw another increase in sales as people sought ‘distractions’ from the devastation around them. With the advent of the Scions, and the Warriors of Light in particular, she has found herself with near-endless inspiration for her works, and has been shamelessly writing pairing after pairing for her readers’ enjoyment. And her own.

So, here is Divine Lexicon! She's a total noncombatant who would pale and blush at a confrontation in equal measure. She can, will, and likely has written any romantic pairing/grouping, real or fictional, in Eorzea. I imagine that the world of FFXIV doesn't have much to keep authors from writing about whoever and whatever they want, and so Divine Lexicon makes a fortune writing romance (if not outright erotica) of the Warriors of Light, Scions, and particularly relaxed City-State leaders. She is based in Mor Dhona (potentially moving to Idyllshire), keeping out of the public eye outside of events. She is very aware that her actions could have consequences, but Gods forgive her, she doesn't care. It's a lot of money, and a lot of fun.

I release this character (or at least her concept) onto the greater XIV world. Have fun!

Shadowbringers really is the game of all time. It's got time travel. It's got parallel dimensions It's got an inversion of the narrative symbolism of light and dark that's been established throughout the whole of the story before. It's got multiple wizards. It's got special areas you can only go into if you're a lalafell. It's got a giant robot that's powered by the concentrated energy of a cult's highly specific funerary rituals. It's got a mandatory under-negotiated pact with the fae. It's got a ghost with a huge bloody axe that follows you around and he's your friend. It's got meditations on legacy and how the world remembers a hero. It's got an elf in a toad costume. It's got body horror. It's got an all-consuming mission to save the one you love at all costs. It's got a corruption arc. It's got an absolutely bangin soundtrack. It's got a gun.
