we don’t need to wonder why the recording academy does the stupid shit it does or what the guy who said “i like this movie because it feels like a movie” means by other stupid shit he said. no. here’s the grammys mystery we need to crack. 

who tweeted this? like it’s such a perfect chaos tweet. nearly 15k quote tweets! and if you haven’t seen them you can guess what they’re like lol. but it’s perfect because everyone is mad. the harry fans are mad. harry haters are mad. this was, whether by design or accident, just a perfect catalyst for Mess. 

for the record, i don’t personally believe the producer for the broadcast of the ceremony has any kind of singular, significant say in who wins awards. certainly, the recording academy is a fucking disaster but it’s beyond A Guy and is its own issue entirely. however, the optics are just laughably terrible and my initial thought is this has to be intentional. the tweeter has to have it out for harry and/or the grammys because who would be so naive to think this piece of info will hit like a little “fun fact”? and there’s plenty of motives to go around in the great stan wars. did this social media person belong to one of these groups? aggrieved beyhive? a swifty holding on to a grudge? maybe a wildcard belieber? i can’t say. but there’s no end to fan groups who would love to make a perceived enemy camp look stupid by making their liege look stupid. 

ah, but the timestamp would rule out a stan of some form, you may think. it was sent out before aoty was announced. how could a tweet precede the crime for which it serves as revenge? it’s something worth considering, but it looked bad enough at beginning of the ceremony. the social media person could have just gotten lucky that their tweet only became all the more damning after the evening was done. could be.

but maybe there is one person out there naive enough, with just enough sway, to think “actually, this is a fun fact and will be received well by the twitter public” and that person would be grammy producer, ben winston. it makes sense. he lives in a heightened reality where he’s perfect and the smartest, best, coolest guy in the world and wow it’s so cool he’s friends with this other guy who is the best coolest guy in the world and that got his amazing offspring on this song and the world needs to know because they’ll rejoice in how cool and great this is. so he tells the social media person “hey make sure you share this fun fact about me and my awesome kid.”

so many possibilities. so many theories. like, i’ve long ago given up ceding any amount of energy to thoughtfully criticize these institutions. but i do still live for marveling at these kinds of stupid gaffes.

well. i’ve seen a few frames from the worry movie now. the one clip with the accent choices that have people curious. ok. maybe this will be the new showgirls. 

just in terms of unhinged dialogue and clowns trying to make a movie that says insightful things about women, and unintentional camp, that natalie portman astronaut movie should be the new showgirls. but it was never the big public mess spectacle required to bring it to that level.

but this. don’t worry darling. might check so many important showgirl boxes? the production/promotion mess is seemingly unending. the premise is uninspired and done to death. the unintentional camp potential is certainly there, but can it deliver on that? the accent is making me hopeful....i may have circled around to actually seeing this
