Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine really just made the entire Aladdin remake her bitch. Jasmine is already such a badass, sassy, takes-absolutely-zero-bs kinda princess. And Naomi Scott brought her to life in ways that fulfilled all my six year old kickass princess fantasies. Like, she really walked in there fully knowing exactly what kind of awe-inspiring rebel Jasmine is and determined to singlehandedly give her everything she deserves. 

I am shook at how she just outright refused to let Princess Jasmine be even a little bit of a damsel in distress, like… handsome prince sweeping her off on a magic carpet ride? Lemme drive this carpet myself. Awful villain trying to usurp the throne? Lemme just de-throne a whole Sultan in the span of like five minutes while singing the most amazing power ballad ever written. Stupid ancient laws trying to rule her life? Lemme just BeCOME THE FrEAKING SULTAN and change them myself. I can’t even. 

Also, can we talk about how they took out the (very cringey) scene where Jasmine attempts to seduce Jafar? And freaking replaced it with the most badass girl-power song? Immediately followed by the most badass awe-inspiring power speech? Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, belting out her outrage at being told to stay quiet and freaking dusting every man who ever dared to silence her is def my new religion. 

Naomi Scott is amazing, Princess Jasmine is amazing, Naomi Scott playing Princess JAsmine is everything I always knew I wanted in life but never thought I’d actually get.  The whole performance left me completely speechless.

How are we not talking more about the upgrade Jasmine got at the end of aladdin (2019)?? In the original, you have the sultan realize he was wrong and change the law to allow jasmine to marry whoever she wants, but in the live action the sultan realizes he was wrong about jasmine and made her sultan therefore allowing her to change the law herself…
