This is a portrait I did of two teenage sisters Amina (3/2/1989 - 1/1/2008) and Sarah Said (3/16/1990 - 1/1/2008) who were both shot to death by their Egyptian-born “father” Yaser Abdel Said for leading a western lifestyle and for dating non-Muslim boys, despite the fact that he himself had dated and married a non-Muslim western/American woman. They were also physically and sexually abused by Yaser, prior to both their murders. They lived in consistent fear and abuse for most of their short lives.
They were both young and beautiful girls who wanted to live like other typical western/American teenagers. To wear whatever they wanted, to hang out at wherever they wanted and to date whoever they wanted, regardless of race and religion. They just wanted to feel free and happy.
Every time I see pictures of these two girls, it just breaks my heart knowing what they had to endure growing up and how much they had suffered while continuing to remain happy and positive towards their friends, as well as with each other. Their death shows that honor killings don’t only happen in the Middle East, they are happening on a global level. It still boggles my mind that any parent would do something like this, whats worse is that he is using his own religion as a justification for his own actions. Murder is wrong in any sense, period. All they need is justice and for them to not just be “another memory”.

I made this to help get Amina & Sarah’s story out there. They were killed by their own father, an HONOR KILLING in the US almost 7 years ago. Reblog this and help find Yaser Said and finally get justice for these girls. Because being normal American teenagers shouldn’t have cost them their lives!

Just saw this story on the ID channel, these girls didn’t deserve this for falling in love with a boy. Their father was abusive towards them since they were kids and their mother didn’t do nothing to help them. How do you carry a child for months, give birth to them and a couple of years later allow your husband to kill the child? You and your husband need to be bought to justice.

Having seen the story of Amina Said, I’ll never let a woman be forced into an arranged marriage without having my fair share of hate on the parents who condone it. No woman deserves such a terrible fate.
Yaser Said deserves to rot for what he’s done, murdering his daughters Amina and Sarah Said, simply because Amina was dating a man - which was against the Egyptian culture. I would not blame her, as she was raised as a Texan woman who deserved her freedom. She shared a true romance with a fellow Texan, Joseph “Jojo”.
They didn’t deserve to die for it.
