"In a historic “first-of-its-kind” agreement the government of British Colombia has acknowledged the aboriginal ownership of 200 islands off the west coast of Canada.

The owners are the Haida nation, and rather than the Canadian government giving something to a First Nation, the agreement admits that the “Xhaaidlagha Gwaayaai” or the “islands at the end of world,” always belonged to them, a subtle yet powerful difference in the wording of First Nations negotiating.

BC Premier David Eby called the treaty “long overdue” and once signed, will clear the way for half a million hectares (1.3 million acres) of land to be managed by the Haida.

Postal service, shipping lanes, school and community services, private property rights, and local government jurisdiction, will all be unaffected by the agreement, which will essentially outline that the Haida decide what to do with the 200 or so islands and islets.

“We could be facing each other in a courtroom, we could have been fighting each other for years and years, but we chose a different path,” said Minister of Indigenous Relations of BC, Murray Rankin at the signing ceremony, who added that it took creativity and courage to “create a better world for our children.”

Indeed, making the agreement outside the courts of the formal treaty process reflects a vastly different way of negotiating than has been the norm for Canada.

“This agreement won’t only raise all boats here on Haida Gwaii – increase opportunity and prosperity for the Haida people and for the whole community and for the whole province – but it will also be an example and another way for nations – not just in British Columbia, but right across Canada – to have their title recognized,” said Eby.

In other words, by deciding this outside court, Eby and the province of BC hope to set a new standard for how such land title agreements are struck."

Shadow’s favorite memory with Sonic is the end of SA2. How Sonic reached out for him despite risking falling with him, how he tried to save him immediately without hesitation and how he grateful he was for it even if Sonic didn’t actually saved him. The fact that he tried is unforgettable to Shadow

How it’s probably Sonic’s least favorite memory with Shadow, how he failed him, how he let Shadow wave him away and watch him die. And just couldn’t reach out to him, Shadow was faster than him and went where Sonic couldn’t follow

They truly are both sides of the same coin omg

IT PLAUGES MY MIND DUDE

It's something about how the events of SA2 were a mere 48 hours at most. In less then 48 hours these two hedgehogs, who had just met in the worst way possible; Sonic getting framed, Shadow having his mind manipulated and attempting to destroy the world, etc. Had managed to touch each others lives in a way that is just so special to me. (THEY MAKE ME SO ILL SHVSSJHSJSBSJSJ)

Shadows relationship with Sonic, is a unique one. Sonic confuses Shadow the best way. His passion, his willingness to see the best in people, he's practically the definition of a hero. In the little time Shadow has gotten to know Sonic, I full heartly believe in his final moments in super form, he knew that if he was fully unable to keep his promise to Maria by protecting the world. (Even if he did in the end) Then he would protect the one he knew would always do so no matter what. But the fact that sonic tried to save him, probably meant the world to him, because there was someone-- even after everything, everything he did to him and his friends, that cared about him. That wanted him to live.

On the other hand, Sonic for the first time in his life had someone who truly challenged him. Not only in speed and power but in understanding. Shadow just wasn't another guy wanting to work with Eggman. He was many things; a genetically engineered weapon, proof of immortality, a cure, a protector, a little brother to Maria. Someone who never got to experience life on Earth, never got to mourn, to heal. Who never got to figure out who he is, who he was meant to be, who he could be.

The least Sonic could do after Shadow chose to help him save the world was to give him that chance, the chance to start over, and all he had to do was catch him.

But he was waved away.
