It really is 2003 again Jesus Tapdancing Christ.
Like, all Republicans did was replace Iraq and gay people with Iran and trans people.

I saw a post saying that Boromir looked too scruffy in FotR for a Captain of Gondor, and I tried to move on, but I’m hyperfixating. Has anyone ever solo backpacked? I have. By the end, not only did I look like shit, but by day two I was talking to myself. On another occasion I did fourteen days’ backcountry as the lone woman in a group of twelve men, no showers, no deodorant, and brother, by the end of that we were all EXTREMELY feral. You think we looked like heirs to the throne of anywhere? We were thirteen wolverines in ripstop.
My boy Boromir? Spent FOUR MONTHS in the wilderness! Alone! No roads! High floods! His horse died! I’m amazed he showed up to Imladris wearing clothes, let alone with a decent haircut. I’m fully convinced that he left Gondor looking like Richard Sharpe being presented to the Prince Regent in 1813

there’s been a really bizarre trend in the past couple years of TERFS/radfems getting pissed off about biology posts. posts about the bilateral gyandromorph cardinal (one half male, one half female), posts about older hens beginning to crow and act like roosters, posts about animals being animals. and it’s hilarious because they interpret these posts as some kind of agenda. no! these are animals not choosing any gender identity or sexuality but being born into bodies they have no control over. weird how that happens in nature huh

"God never gives you more than you can handle" is survivorship bias. People who got more than they could handle are dead.

normalize my 12th grade English teacher, who admitted that his favorite TV show was Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and when a male student suggested that it was because Buffy/Sarah Michelle Gellar was hot, wrinkled his face like he’d bitten into something rotten and dead, and said, “At my age (he was 53), there is nothing less sexy than a teenager. You’re all disgusting messes.” It was 1999, I was 17, and I’d grown up in conservative Christian schools and churches. In my life I’d heard heard dozens of sermons from male preachers and teachers and even some older students, whining about how hard it was to be a dude and not commit the sin of thinking sexual thoughts, and how they needed women to wear long skirts and cover their bodies to not objectify them
and my bitter, misanthropic, atheist Brit Lit teacher, who hated my class because he was obsessed with teaching Tom Sawyer but got stuck with Shakespeare and Jane Austen, was the first, and this day the last man I have ever heard articulate a rebuttal from the depths of his soul to the idea that it was normal for teenage girls to be desirable to middle aged men

the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.

this may be a big sexy controversial opinion but I think there should be a little less pressure on the patient to ensure they actually get diagnosed and treated. medical conferences and medical presentations are great but the big question that always gets asked is: how can I get my doctor to take me seriously? and it is not just patients who hate this, many experts who present on chronic illnesses talk about how frustrated they get with other clinicians who are too stubborn to learn more and/or treat their patients like shit!
in a study of POTS patients, in the big POTS survey, nearly 80% of POTS patients were told by at least one DOCTOR that their symptoms were "all in their head" before they were diagnosed. and whatever the fuck that leads to this happening needs to fucking stop. patients should not have to beg doctors to believe that they have symptoms, to test them, to treat them. and there needs to be more awareness of the unfortunate reality that patients often need to just dump doctors and go to someone else when a doctor is being shitty. and this process can take years and it can sometimes take dozens of doctors. and it should not!
but there NEEDS to be more awareness of this because so many patients have major medical issues and then go to a doctor who either refuses to believe them or who gives up when basic tests come back negative. some conditions only show up on very specialized tests, and will often show up 'healthy' otherwise.
and these are conditions that often completely derail someone's life, worsen over time, or become life-threatening without treatment! and that is an awful thing for patients to have to remind each other, that even if a doctor says things are all in their head, even if a ton of doctors say things are all in their head, that even if they have been to a ton of doctors already and none of them helped, that they could STILL have a conditions that could be really dangerous without monitoring and treatment!
but that treatment can usually only happen IF DOCTORS ACTUALLY FUCKING DIAGNOSE THEIR PATIENTS!!!

One of my controversial takes is that I kind of hate the term "rejection sensitive dysphoria" wrt adhd because it's so clearly the same thing as being anxious and insecure in relationships w trauma based disorders but people talk about it like it's just an intrinsic part of your brain that you're simply Too Sensitive & not, like, a consequence of every neurodivergent person alive being bullied as a child. Like that thing of how there aren't any non-traumatized autistic people to study
