I saw a post just now saying that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka LDS or Mormons) aren't Christians. As a member of that church, posts like that always make me sad, but on the day after Easter I'm especially confused at the antagonism.
What does it takes to be counted as Christian?
Yes we have theological differences from other denominations--we don't agree with everything from the Council of Trent or Council of Nicaea etc.--but we believe in the Bible and worship the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, Lord, and Redeemer, and we try to live according to His teachings.
As I've stated in an earlier post, I've loved seeing the outpouring of fellow Christians' faith on Tumblr this Easter season--it's a special, tender time for me in particular as I remember lost loved ones who I know I'll see again in the resurrection, and I celebrate the gift of grace that the Lord has given me and all living beings, and that becaise of Him, we have the ability to repent, be forgiven of our sins, and return to the presence of God.
If I'm not a Christian, what am I?
I'm not looking to make enemies, I'm looking to make friends, and I've found them across denominations before. Can't we all celebrate what we have in common and, when it comes up, discuss our differences directly in civil conversation? I've yet to see a call-out post describing beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints accurately--and usually they're pretty far off-base. Please just ask us (ask me!) if you have questions! We have so much more in common than you think!

Making this mostly for the sake of some of my mutuals real quick. I'm gonna be going through and un-following a bunch of people in an attempt to whittle down how much content is in my feed. If we've been mutual for a while (or even for a short time) and I unfollow you PLEASE know that it is not AT ALL because I don't like you or don't wanna be mutuals or that I don't like what you're posting or anything like that. Please PLEASE feel free to keep interacting with me seriously I love yall. Right now I'm just trying to limit my social media usage for the sake of my own mental and physical health, and part of that is significantly thinning down the amount of posts in my feed so I have less excuse to start doom scrolling at bad times. It's something I've needed to do for a while now and finally making the decision to do so was really hard. But I think I'll be better off for it. I love yall so much, thanks for your understanding <3

LMAO imagine the way Morro was forced into a therapist position when dealing with dead souls now. He just has to sit and talk to some randos for three hours about their trauma before sending them off.
He’s probably happy someone’s actually willing to talk to him for three hours to begin with.
He would’ve done the same to Arin, absolutely did do the same to his old ghost buddies, did it to random elemental masters. Any dead character we know Morro accidentally became a therapist for.

I see your 'Sky has asthma and that's why he can't run', and I raise you: Sky has Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia, and that's why he can't run.
Now, before you run away because you've never even heard of IST, hear me out. (If you don't know the condition, it's a dysautonomic heart condition vaguely similar to POTS, just without the low blood pressure.)
We all know Sky's lived above the clouds with minimal oxygen levels his entire life, as have most of his decedents, so it wouldn't make sense for him to have shitty lungs, right? That's where IST comes in. See, it's not related in the slightest to physical health or upbringing, it's just a non-genetic thing that is due to your sinus being a bit funky. It's also not life threatening, so that takes away from Skyloft needing to have non-canonical advanced medical procedures. IST's main symptom is that it severely decreases your stamina by making your heart race and you become extremely out of breath, often meaning you have to stop and wait for a bit for your heart to calm down.
Sound familiar? Yeah, I thought so too.
However, and here's the real seller- unlike asthma, you can just power through and not die. It really, really sucks, but this ability is quite the gamebreaker for me when you think about all of the extreme physical tasks Sky has completed in game, not to mention his swordplay, that if he had exercise induced asthma would've very likely set off an attack. With IST tho, yes it would feel like you were dying, but it is absolutely be possible to just power through your symptoms and have no adverse effects except from your extreme discomfort and fatigue afterwards.
TLDR: Sky has Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia because it fits him so much better than asthma, as someone who has both asthma and IST. And no, this isn't just me projecting my hyper specific heart condition onto one of my favourite characters, what do you mean....

atheists will post gotcha memes about “the guy who shot you repented and is now in heaven don’t you want to say hi?” as if the knowledge of a person who wronged you in the most heinous way imaginable being lifted up to sainthood by the grace of God isnt the most incredible thing conceivable to the Christian mind

It makes me really sad that so many ex mormons on tumblr associate mormonism with Christianity. It’s not Christian. It calls itself that, but we believe in entirely different gods and have an entirely different salvation path and afterlife.
In mormon theology, their god was once a mortal who ascended to godhood. Jesus was either an angel who was ascended to being the Son of God or was brought into existence by God through Mary and didn’t exist before that moment.
In mormon theology, you continue to work towards your salvation and glorification once you’re dead. To the point of becoming a god yourself. You also need to get married and have children to fulfill this, the more children and the more wives, the better. And a wife’s salvation is inherently tied to her husband’s salvation. You never stop working for your salvation.
In Christian theology, there is one God. No others. This one God is also three persons. How that works, I don’t know, but that’s why Christians talk about the Trinity. Anyways, that’s one main difference. God is, was, and will always be God. He was never not God. Jesus was always God. Holy Spirit was always God.
We can never become gods. When we are glorified, we will become perfect humans. Perfect in body and soul. Our bodies will no longer ache or get sick or break down or develop chronic illnesses or pain. Our spirits will not be anxious or depressed. But we will be human. Because that is how God made us.
Our salvation is dependent on Christ alone. Not on our husbands. Not on our kids. Not on how many good works we do. Not on how little coffee or alcohol we consume, not on how much skin we show, not on any other arbitrary rule made by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, both of whom were awful people.
No, our salvation is dependent on the love of God. And he has promised that he has always loved us and will never stop loving us. It took me a long time to learn how to trust that promise. A lot of questions. But I have no reason to distrust what my God says, unlike the god who kept changing his mind about polygamy and black people and arbitrarily says you cant have coffee but diet coke is fine. You cant have alcohol but you have to have alcohol for communion.
My friends, the God of the Christians is not the god of the Mormons. Ex Mormons, the God of the Bible is not the god of the Mormons. I hate that you have been lied to in this way. I pray you find healing from being in that cult. If you cannot leave for familial or work reasons, I pray you will get to the point where you can leave the lds cult. If you are trying to leave, there are a few resources you can use.
Quitmormon is very good. Unfortunately, the lds church added a restriction for people trying to leave through this avenue.
QuitMormon still seems like the best option for leaving the LDS church relatively painlessly.
Here are some testimonies of of ex mormons who have become Christians and the site has resources that compares Christianity and the Bible to Mormon teachings, showing the differences and how the LDS church does not agree with the Bible and that they are not Christian.
I am not trying to convince you to be Christian if you do not want to be. I am just trying to correct the misunderstanding that the LDS church is christian. They aren’t. They’re a heretical cult that falsely calls themselves Christian so they don’t receive the pushback they justly deserve. You have every right to be angry at the injustice you suffered, and are still suffering, at their hands.
God bless you, and I pray for healing.

I don't usually dabble in realism - but this was a gift for someone very meaningful in my life. And some things just deserve to be painted as they are.

*drags myself out of the abyss*
Look, the issue with romance as a genre-
No. Listen to me.
Listen.
The issue with romance is that there isn’t enough brotherhood (gender neutral) in between.
You sit here and you focus so heavily on the relationship between your two characters that you forget their lives outside of each other. They have no one outside of each other. Where are the ride or die’s that roll up their sleeves and hide a body because their best friend’s girlfriend had to defend herself? Where are the girlies that gas up their bestie’s boyfriend as he tried to work up the courage to say “I love you” to her? Where is the support system that tells the girl “he ain’t for you sweetie”. Where are the guys that cut their buddy off at the bar cause “nah man you don’t need to drink over a girl”.
Why do they never own a dog?
Create lives for your characters outside each other. Let them have friends. Let them have family.

LOVE me a character design where their hair or clothes or whatever naturally defies physics cause of their abilities. eat that shit up every time. unfortunately that means i cannot make him greasy as fuck the way i know is right and true
