Since the r-slur is making a comeback (you know, the word that starts with R, has six letters, and ends in D), I'm gonna make a little PSA:

Yes, it's an ableist slur.

Terms like "asshat," "head-up-ass," "up their own ass," and "high on their own farts" exist. There's also words like crap, dogshit, half-assed, assclown, and chucklefuck. And on the less vulgar side, there are terms like ridiculous, nonsense, train wreck, pointless, insipid, self-absorbed, pretentious, annoying, boring, contemptible, vile, and disgusting.

Substituting words like restarted, poptarted, brain damaged, smoothbrain, etc. is still ableist, because either 1. you obviously still mean the r-word, or 2. you're still using disability as an insult.

I’ve said it before but oh my God it is so weird how offended transphobes get on behalf of the cisgender partner when someone in a marriage comes out as trans. There was a bisexual woman talking about her experiences with her husband transitioning and she was very loving and accepting but she mentioned how she slightly mourned being viewed as a lesbian couple. The comments? Pure vitriol. Radfems, general transphobes, dumbasses and confused transmisogynists. Everybody was so mad at him on behalf of her and she wasn’t. They were so adamant on accusing him of lying or betraying her in some way by being trans. They were asking why she, a bisexual woman, stayed with her spouse that she loved after he came out.

one time it was like 11:30pm and i was watching this loud video of what (to my spouse's perspective) looked like a pretty intense street protest, and they calmly went, "hey...maybe wait until tomorrow morning to watch that" [well-meaning and correct advice, i have insomnia, and so getting agitated before bed fucks with my health]

and i had to be like "oh, no no, it's not a protest. it's a video of a cop being beaten up. it's really relaxing." and i just had such a serene smile on my face and my body genuinely felt so calm. and my spouse was like ooooh ok :) yay. and it put me straight to sleep.
