The Victorian Era in the 21st Century
This week we're taking a look at the trending waist cinching silhouette--the corset. Unlike the Victorian era where they would layer with a billowing skirt and puff sleeve blouse, this trend has taken on a more practical approach, being paired with jeans layered over an oversized top.
Source: Harper's Bazaar
It wouldn't be a model-off-duty look without Kendall Jenner herself. Here we have Jenner sporting a non-traditional one piece singlet/corset top. It showcases a deep 'V', sweetheart neckline with a cinched silhouette.
Source: Vogue
And of course, we have model Bella Hadid opting for a jean version of the corset, pairing it with an oversized denim button down and straight leg jeans. An oversized jacket or coat has also been a common piece being worn with a corset. This juxtaposition of the tight waist and the free form overcoat is a fun way to play with a body's silhouette.
Source: L'officiel Austria
Here is a better look at how the boning and tightness of Hadid's corset accentuates the waist while defining it underneath the oversized jacket.
Source: Vogue
Another example of the corset being paired with an over-exaggerated coat seen on Lilian Sumner.

One retailer that has taken on this trend is Urban Outfitters. They shared two different ways that someone can play up the exaggerated silhouette.

Another popular style of corset is the structured, lingerie-inspired lace construction. As seen on Kim Kardashian, this type of top is typically seen styled alone.

Pictured above are a few more corset looks from YouTuber Ashley 'AKA bestdressed' and influencer Alyssa Coscarelli. While this trend has made itself known at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, it's seemed to find itself in our 2021 fall wardrobes.

Little Top, Big Pants
In today's post, we're taking a look at the go-to outfit of the year--the baby tee and mom jean. As seen on almost anyone and everyone, this look is effortless, showcasing a baggy jean with a cropped, fitted shirt.

Image: Vogue
Starting off with fashion icon herself, Kendall Jenner, channeling little top, big pants energy with a classic straight leg denim and a graphic baby tee. She accessorized the outfit with a rectangular black sunnie and platform sandal. This combo is typically seen styled with a rimless or tortoise shell '90s inspired sunglass.

Image: Daily Mail

Image: Hollywood Life
Here, we have model Bella Hadid's take on the trend, with a baggier jean and colored statement tee. She layered the outfit with an oversized jacket, which compliments the over-exaggerated silhouette of her pants. Like Jenner, she also accessorized with a rectangular sunnie.

Image: Daily Mail

Image: Daily Mail
Above is someone we have yet to cover--Lily-Rose Depp. The model/actress is known for her casual streetwear looks, commonly seen stepping out in a baby tee and baggy pant. Here, she went for a super-cropped tee with a mid to low rise denim. Once again, the outfit is being paired with a '90s style sunnie.

Image: @brandymelvilleusa on Instagram

Brandy Melville is known for their teeny tiny baby tees and baggy bottoms, with it being one of their top selling looks. On their site, there is a plethora of these cropped basics, and tight fit graphics.

Image: @urbanoutfitters on Instagram
Another brand that we've seen follow the trend is Urban Outfitters. Unlike Brandy, they take a more maximalist approach on the look, producing fun color ways and diving head first into the baggiest jean.

Image: Daily UK News
The baby tee and baggy jean combo is your new everyday look--going to the grocery store, running to the thrift store, and even Sunday brunch with some friends. With this look you'll feel effortlessly chic in all the right ways.

The Classic Blazer Staple
This week we're highlighting a fall classic that can elevate any simple outfit to something more sophisticated.

Image: @lilyadel on Instagram

Image: @sivanayla on Instagram
The first two outfits show how chic the colors black and camel go together. Both outfits are an on the go style, and use the blazer to elevate a more casual look.

Image: @delaneychilds on Instagram
This look shows how even a cropped blazer can make a significant difference with sweatpants and a crop top.

Image: @ touraya.m on Instagram

Image: @benettonmontecarlo on Instagram
This outfit is a blazer paired with the matching dress pants along with sneakers. While still being casual, it takes on a classy semi-formal approach.

Image: @ lucie.rose.mahe on Instagram
This look is more posh and elevated especially with the handbag on the wrist. By buttoning up the blazer and adding a statement belt it gives a more luxury feel to the outfit.

Image: @tessplk on Instagram

Image: @marimakatsaria on Instagram
This look is very abstract with the color blocking design on the leather blazer. This blazer is the most unique and creative of all, plus it is the focal point of the outfit.

Image: @ctrendyblog on Instagram

Image: @vitrinkurdu on Instagram
This outfit is my favorite as it pairs a plaid blazer with a dress underneath, along with knee high boots. I love how she stuck to neutrals and classic gold jewelry.

All Out Academia
This week we're focusing on the latest footwear trend--the loafer. The preppy, '90s style has been making a comeback this fall, commonly paired with a crisp white ankle sock and structured outfit.

Image: Who What Wear UK

Image: @prada from Instagram
Prada's take on the loafer gives sophistication to the classic look with its brushed leather and signature enameled triangle logo, coming in both a flat and chunky lug sole.

Image: L'Officiel USA

Image: L'Officiel USA
Here we see the iconic Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid styling the loafer in two different ways. Above, Jenner pairs a clean white button down under a retro sweater vest and green trousers. Rather than a classic white trouser sock, she goes for a neutral brown colored sock to match her mahogany loafers. Hadid decided on a more relaxed look, channeling a typical '90s look with her original fit Levi's 501s, white tank, rimless sunnies, and a bright orange cross body.

Image: @wisdm from Instagram
Fashion influencer and model Wisdom Kaye showcases a retro chic take on the loafer, pairing it with a more structured outfit. In his first look, he has on a sea-foam green blazer with iconic golden brown velvet flares. Peeking out from the shoe we can see he has on white trouser socks. In the second outfit, he is wearing a more casual outfit however, still holding true to a structured silhouette. Kaye accessorizes with a red and white trucker hat, a matching varsity-like jacket, white tank, and belted khaki shorts. The loafers are pulled together with a pair of white trouser socks.

bImage: @emmachamberlain from Instagram
Here we see Youtuber and Fashion Influencer Emma Chamberlain and her take on the loafer trend. She creates a more casual, youthful look by pairing lug sole loafers with baby tees/tanks, and shorts. Once again, the loafers are being worn with white ankle socks.

Image: @therealreal on Instagram

Image: @best.dressed on Instagram
As we step into the fall season, we will be seeing a lot more variations of the loafer look from classic styles to chunky lug sole silhouettes. I see this trend lasting well past the cold months, being paired with spaghetti strap midi dresses layered with baby tees, or mid length jean shorts with a half tucked graphic tee in the Spring. The reemergence of the '90s loafer is a simple yet elegant style that can be paired with almost anything to elevate a look.

Bella Hadid:The Blueprint ?
I decided to focus on Bella Hadid and her outfit from November 2017 due to the fact that this outfit is now consistently spotted four years later in 2021.

Image: The Getty
Her baggy and torn light wash vintage Levi’s 501s are paired with the coveted Off-White Nike Jordan 1 Chicagos that cost a pretty penny. This was worn alongside with her classic Off-White belt, classic black top, black sunnies and gold accents.

Pictured: Off White x Nike Jordan 1 Chicago Collaboration

Image:TheJeansBlog
This image takes a better look at the silhouette of her Vintage Levi's 501.

Image: Ebay
Pictured: The Off-White Yellow Utility Belt.
Image: Pintrest
This outfit has now become the new basic. It incorporates classic items, but it is styled in a modern way. The outfit has been labeled the tiny shirt, baggy pants and sneakers combination. This is when the pendulum swing from skinny jeans to baggy jeans began.

Image: ICC-IRAN

Image:CNKDaily
Sneaker culture was always seen as a masculine hobby, but this outfit introduced ladies to the idea that women can wear sneakers too especially with the Jordan 1 silhouette which is sold out consistently. This was especially seen in teens as well as people who are the same age as Bella Hadid.

Image: JustFreshKicks

Image: Fashion Cognoscente

Image: Fashion Cognoscente
Overall, though this outfit may be extremely simple, this is exactly what makes it impactful. Young women like Bella Hadid wanted to emulate her therefore they chose an outfit that seemed like the easiest to replicate. This specific outfit of hers can be credited as the source of this trend for those who weren't into sneaker culture beforehand even if it became mainstream years later.
