Crescent moon 🌙
Tarot- The Moon
The Moon. Art by Cedar McCloud, from The Magic Pantry Tarot.
▪ Mystery ▪ Magic ▪ A double edge ▪ Illusion Until we use the knife to open up our cake, the inside remains unknown. This card can appear when there is a mystery at hand. What tools do you need to solve it? Does it need to be solved at all? Once you make the first cut, there’s no going back; you’ve begun to destroy the original in the pursuit of answers. Knives are used in ceremonies and magical workings all over the world. Its cutting edge creates a powerful symbol for the work we are attempting to do emotionally, energetically, spiritually. Magic happens beneath the light of The Moon—where is the magic in your life? What sort of magic do you want to make? A knife can cut our food into edible pieces, but it can also draw our own blood if mishandled (or used aggressively). This card may be a warning. The power of a tool lies in the hand that wields it. How are you wielding your knife? Carefully, carelessly? In peace, or in anger? “Is it cake?” asks a popular television show, in which hyperrealistic cakes are pitted against nearly identical, non-cake objects; the reveal comes when the knife slices through. Sometimes things are not what they seem. The flash of the knife blade may trick you in the dim light of The Moon; be wary of illusions, tricks, and mirages. Sometimes these tricks are played on us by outside forces, but they can also come from within.
