Neil, like most men, most humans, let something so superficial destroy something so important to him.

Was I surprised? No, not the first time I've gotten news like this, not the last.

Was I disgusted? Yes.

It's clear that either he didn't know what he was doing, unaware that what he's doing is wrong. (Which it obviously is.)

Or he knew *exactly* what he was doing and chose to do what he did anyway. Perhaps he didn't believe there would be any consequences, or perhaps he was at peace with those consequences.

All scenarios are equally terrifying and disguting.

Fact is - he did it. Reasons don't matter. Motives don't matter. What he did matters.

And what's worse is that he hasn't publicly spoken out about this, going silent on his socials and ignoring any references to the allegations, not even trying to deny it. Just makes it seem like he really is guilty.

Instead of admiting his guilt, apologizing, showing that he feels any ounce of remorse, he stays silent.

In these situations, it's better to not stay silent - if they're not true, deny it; if they're true, show some fucking humanity.

Neil has done neither.

I respect him as a writer, an artist. I have a soft spot for his work. I do not, however, have a soft spot for him.

This is a situation where the artist can be separated from their art because the artist doesn't represent their art.

However, I feel like, instead of ignoring the allegations, we should acknowledge them, speak up about it, and show our support to the victims.

Nothing says more than your abusers biggest fans taking your side.

Alright gays, I need your advice, anything helps - I met this rlly cool lesbian like a couple of months ago and I SUPER like her. And we're pretty good friends, so we talk about a lot of things, one of them - romantic interests. She is very interested in this girl she met at some horse show (my friend's an equestrian), and she showed me her insta since I'm known for my incredible gaydar.

Now, I told her the girl *seems* queer, bi at least. I told her that, and I knew she would be happy to hear it.

But, Tumblr, I fear my pantaloons may have caught ablaze in that very moment.

The girl, apart from her ability to take nice pictures of horses, is more plain and basic than a beige wall.

She's pretty, yes, my friend told me she was nice, I believe that.

But, arthoes, that girl is 100% straight, 100% normal, and, after further investigation I commenced later that day, I'm like 99% sure she has a boyfriend(s)
