middle income trap, crap

i decided to write about ‘the middle income trap phenomenon’ for my minor thesis. usually, developed countries fell in to this trap, like Indonesia. for godsake, its the people who made us stayed longer in this trap or should i call, netizen. lol,joke. 

middle income trap is a phenomenon where countries that have been unable to transition from middle-income to high-income countries in a certain number of years. countries are classified into 3 income categories: low, middle and high income. it is reflected on our GDP or per capita income.

there are many aspects that made us fell in to this trap. after reading few journals about how other countries manage to get out (South Korea, Singapore, Greece, Japan, and 9 others). many researches suggest that Indonesia should learn from South Korea since we have some similarities on our economy structure, history and political thingy. correct me if i’m wrong. some says if the country can’t innovate something new in their industry sector and low research and development which refers to low level of human capital it is possible for the country to be stuck in this trap much longer. most of journal mention these two aspects.

In general, Indonesia economy (- 2018) is growing. inflation, poverty, infrastructure, unemployment rate and investment (especially before the trade war began) are reflecting a rebound, the big question is for how long will it last. going through the Asian Crisis 97, Monetary Crisis on 98, Financial Crisis on 08 and the list go on..must be very hard for developed countries to recover. thus, it takes much longer time for us to escape. 

well, learning from South Korea, they have high research and development expenditure (about 2,4% from GDP, Indonesia has only 0,08% from GDP) to support innovation for production in the industry sector. we are very far behind from Korea in this case. and they have high technology export, on the other hand, our export is high but not on the manufacture sector.we do have many natural resources, and on  2030-2040 Indonesia will face demographic dividend, is it a curse or a blessing.

there are many things to explain about this middle income trap,carp. but its too long, and there are many references to read. from latin america or china. aaaand meni moreeee. should’ve finished chapter one and two, butttt tumblr seems more fuuuuun. if only mr.candra could read thissss. or should i just mention him on twitter?! asdfgkjl

giving up was always an option, thanks to you i met so many amazing people that kept me going
