so now that we've seen how Eras Tour looks in an international setting, I've been thinking more on what paramore's opening set might look like. Sabrina did 10 songs, and I could see pmore doing 10-12 in Europe. i guess a mild upside to opener sets is they can play whatever they want to, and i really hope we get some variation night-to-night esp in cities with multiple shows. contemplating my ideal setlist for them....

Listened to castles crumbling a trillion times, love it, have so many thoughts, will probably have more later 🤣. For now I need to put these somewhere, specifically about HW…

To me h’s verse sounds very much like herself - though I do hear the autotune, i very much hear her slinky reflective low-register vocal, that she never showed off until pfa&ffv. the enunciation is also very her.

the backing vocals are also pretty distinctly “hayley” to me. I esp love the “I will just let you down” in the choruses. And the “oohs and ahs” before the bridge…the first thing I thought of was the oohs that h does as crowd-call-and-response does when paramore plays misguided ghosts live.

A little thing that stands out to me is the fact that h has the lines about “once I was the great hope for a dynasty” when rock music/artists/reviewers used to say the same about her - including (guess which villain in swiftie lore) literally calling her the “great (orange) hope”….

she also sings the line of “their faith was strong but I pushed it too far”. when in that era H had also written tons of lyrics about how she handled the public’s view of her/faith in her….but *also* was so vocal about being guided by her own faith. Both of these women were at the time very known for their Christian roots.

And sort of side note. i can’t say i'm ride-or-die for or against Jack Antonoff (esp on the Vault) like some swifties. But the fact that Jack….formerly of fun. signed by Fueled By Ramen…the label branch that is the reason Paramore *is a band* (and not just Hayley singing pop-punk for Atlantic)….Jack who’s a longtime friend of both HW and TS. Seems actually quite kismet for him to have produced this one.
