heres the "clarity" on the rulings and what it means, which is so unbelievably poorly set out that it literally does nothing but give a blank cheque for discriminating against trans people. according to the guidance trans women/men should no longer be permitted to womens/mens spaces (primarily concerning toilets). however, there is also an exclusion carved out in that:

"in some circumstances the law also allows trans women not to be permitted to use the men's facilities, and trans men not to be permitted to use the women's facilities"

it gets even more confusing however, because a specific exclusion is carved out for trans men, saying that if their outward appearance is masculine, they may be admitted into male only spaces "on a case by case basis". no such exclusion is carved out for feminine facing transgender women

they also specifically state that in associations that are lesbian only or gay only, transgender people should not be admitted

goes without saying but this is just a blatant attack on peoples rights without even achieving the supposed "goals" it set out to do by aligning people to spaces based off their sex, as they just carve these arbritrary lines wherever they want to make themselves more comfortable.

something i read elsewhere pertaining to how the guidance will affect schools really scared me too. back when i was in high school i was given the option to use the womens restroom and changing rooms, but it caused so much controversy and gossip that i never bothered (multiple parents threatened to get involved). now, those students wont even have that choice, and will essentially be outed the moment that they decide to tell any staff at their school, especially with the other recent regressions which reinforce the "parents of a trans child have a right to know!!" bullshit. british high schools are rigid in terms of their rules, you slap back at any of the rules and youll get your ass handed to you. while the rest of us can protest this, there is going to be thousands and thousands of trans teens who cant really do anything because "its the law", and they dont want to risk their education.

fuck them, piss where you want, and lets stay together as a community through this. the protests that happened really opened my eyes up to how many trans people there is near me, and how beautiful and passionate they all are. we need to make sure we always keep that community :)
