Sand Grains Foundation in collaboration with the IIM Calcutta Students spearheads the Tree Plantation Drive in Kolkata

The Sand Grains Foundation, in collaboration with students from IIM Calcutta, recently organized a tree plantation drive in Newtown, Kolkata as a significant step in their Carbon Offset Program.
At Sand Grains Foundation, we are passionate about environmental conservation and fostering sustainable practices. In line with our commitment, we took a significant step forward by organizing a tree plantation drive at Green Verge 3, located in (Action Area 1A) New Town, Kolkata. The objective of this initiative was to enhance the green cover and contribute to the overall well-being of the local ecosystem.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 25 students of IIM Calcutta, who shared our vision for a greener future.
Founded in 2021, the Sand Grains Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation for our planet's finite resources, both natural and human. Our primary environmental initiative focuses on achieving Net Zero by 2030. With a target of planting 25,000 trees by 2025-2026, we are committed to making a tangible impact on combating climate change and fostering a healthier environment.
The involvement of the IIM Calcutta students added a dynamic element to the drive, infusing fresh ideas and energy into the process. Through their active participation, they demonstrated their dedication to environmental sustainability and their desire to make a positive difference in the community.

CDE Asia takes a step towards disease awareness with health camp initiatives at Kolkata Headquarters

CDE Asia's Health Awareness camp empowers individuals to tackle chronic diseases head-on through prevention and cure, offering valuable insights and resources.
In collaboration with Desun Hospital, CDE Asia took the initiative to organize two health awareness camps on May 11th and May 20th, 2023. These camps were held at CDE Asia's headquarters at Ecospace, Kolkata, and its factory in Howrah. The primary objective of these camps was to raise awareness about chronic health conditions and offer free medical testing with doctor consultations, aiming to empower individuals and enhance their understanding of these ailments.
The camps were organised to equip the employees with knowledge, resources, and medical support to effectively tackle chronic health conditions. The primary objective of these camps was to raise awareness about chronic diseases and highlight the importance of prevention and cure. The event proved to be a dynamic platform for individuals to gain valuable insights and resources, empowering them to take proactive measures in combating these ailments.
According to a recent study conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO), India holds the unfortunate distinction of having the highest number of people affected by chronic and 'silent killer' diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and heart ailments.
The prevalence of chronic diseases in India is reaching critical levels, with millions of individuals trapped in the vicious cycle of these ailments. However, what is even more concerning is the lack of awareness among those who have not yet been affected. Many are unaware of the necessary steps to prevent the onset of such diseases, leaving them vulnerable to their debilitating consequences.
The camps had provisions to check vital health parameters such as weight, blood pressure, eye consultations, random blood sugar, and ECG (as advised by doctors), apart from free doctor consultations.
Mr. Anirban Sarkar, Deputy Manager-Growth & Development Officer at Desun Hospital, commended CDE Asia's initiative, stating, "The health awareness and medical testing camps organized by CDE Asia are truly commendable. High Purity Silica Sand Processing Line in Pakistan

Ahmed Brothers Materials, a Ghani Group company, joined hands with CDE Asia to employ its silica sand beneficiation technology and achieved high-grade glass grade silica sand for use in their glass production facilities in Pakistan.
Background:
Ghani Group, a reputed business house of South Asia - based in Pakistan, with interests in container glass and float glass, automobiles manufacturing/marketing and mining of silica sand, coal and rock salt. The group has over 50 years of business experience in the local and international markets, especially in the glass sector. It features seven modern glass plants in Pakistan producing container glass, float glass and value-added glass with an annual capacity of over 1,570 TPD.
Ghani Group has earned its repute and has registered its brand as the leader in the container glass industry in the region. It enjoys the largest market share with an extensive glass container range for the pharmaceutical and food & beverage industry. Incessant R&D, innovation, provision of value-added glass manufacturing and fulfilling customized demands of local and international customers have made Ghani brand a glass superpower in the region.
Partnership Approach:
On July 1st, 2021, a 0.3 MTPA customized CDE MicroGrader® Silica Sand Processing Line was commissioned by CDE Asia at the mining site of Ahmed Brothers Materials located in Khushab, a city, as well as a district of Sargodha Division, located in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
On being questioned on the intentions behind commissioning the plant, the Company’s Director Mr. Anwaar Ahmed Khan said:
“We were looking for a high-purity silica sand processing plant to meet the requirement of our glass production facilities. As a company with many patented products, we knew CDE Asia would understand our requirement of in-spec sand and provide a solution that is cost-effective and eco-friendly in its own right.”
Plant Highlights:
· Modular Silica Sand Processing: The commissioned plant uses advanced wet processing technology to reduce Fe2O3, TiO2, Al2O3 and other contaminants present in the mined silica sand without losing a significant amount of feed material. A high-purity, silica sand grade can be achieved, which can be used for the production of float glass or container glass depending upon the requirement of the project.
· Eco-Friendly Technology: The installed plant minimizes water use (consumption: 0.28m³ per ton/hour) with recycling, conserves power (consumption: 650 KWH), and has zero effluent discharge.
· Easy to Install: The MicroGrader® F70D customized plant from CDE Asia is a fully automatic system with a modular setup with minimum geographical footprint.
Speaking of how the sand beneficiation plant will be a game-changer for Ghani Group, Alexander Baart, Regional Director of PT CDE South-East Asia located in Jakarta, said, “Being the leading company in wet equipment processing industry, we are proud to have assisted a prestigious client like Ghani Group to achieve their targeted silica sand grade. This is our first project in Pakistan. I will ensure that we handhold the project in terms of providing both remote and in-country service support and making parts available through our Indonesian warehousing facility”.
Smart Technology with Internet Inside:
This project will also remain memorable as a testimony of how well-planned collaborations based on trust and cooperation work. Although the plant & equipment along with required utilities were already available at the project site, Covid-19 and restrictions on international travel posed significant challenges for the installation and commission of the project. CDE Engineers were not allowed to travel to Pakistan due to Visa restrictions. The entire erection and commissioning of the project were completed using the CDE Smart Technology, a massive achievement by engineers on both sides of the border.
CDE Asia’s Operations Manager, Sanjit Kumar added “The MicroGrader® F70D is preinstalled with multiple IoT sensors and internet capability that communicates with CDE Command Center servers throughout its operations. This allows our customers to operate their business from anywhere in the world. They can start & stop their plant remotely, receive a daily report of production, power usage, water usage and more, all from the comfort of their homes. The CDE plant is always connected with CDE Command Center through the internet making it possible for our team to assist our customers 365 days a year. Combo X150 renews client’s confidence in CDE Asia’s advanced sand-washing technology

A Combo X150 Plant was commissioned by our ardent client, a CDE Asia plant owner- Shreenathji Stone Quarry in Gujarat
Shreenathji Stone Quarry is an organization of repute, a leading quarry owner, and sand & aggregates supplier in Chikhli, Gujarat that is associated with various urban infrastructure projects in the area. As a matter of natural progression, and due to the business foresight of the owner, they have expanded their base to the sand market, to leverage the emerging demand for M-Sand in the market.
Shreenathji has been associated with us since 2018 with its primary investment in Combo X70 powered by European technology by CDE Asia. However, for their two crushing units of 120 TPH each at Chikhli and assessing the rising demand for M-Sand in infrastructure projects in Gujarat, the client was ready to explore sand washing systems of advanced technologies.
The need of the hour was to achieve a continuous supply of consistent quality M-Sand from an advanced sand-washing plant. To achieve this, the client wanted to utilize the 0-5mm output generated as VSI Dust from their crushing unit to generate quality concrete M-sand (Zone II) and plaster sand, thereby adding to its top line.
Our officials had a meeting with Mr. Jaimin Gondaliya, Director of Shreenathji Stone Quarry to thoroughly analyze the current situation. After carefully assessing the client’s requirements, we introduced the clients to CDE Asia’s latest innovation in the Combo line of sand washing equipment - Combo X150, ideal for unhindered, finest quality M-Sand supply.
Combo X150 is equipped for feeding, grading, dewatering, water recycling, conveying, and sludge handling - the plant is an all-in-one solution. It can efficiently process the VSI dust from crushing operations to produce quality concrete M-Sand (Zone II) with a high silt removal capacity of 15%. It has an impressive feed capacity of 150 TPH, 95% water recycling capacity, and up to 30% energy conservation capabilities, and emits below 80db noise. The plant can operate for more than 18 hours a day and has a compact design requiring a significantly less geographical area to install. The plant is also an ideal solution for saving the overall cement consumption in construction and promises higher returns.
As a consequence of old ties and newfound confidence, the Combo X150 plant was commissioned in early 2022.

CDE Asia wins India Green Awards 2022 for Sustainable Waste Recycling

CDE Asia was recently recognized as a leader in Green Construction and Demolition Waste Recycling at the prestigious India Green Awards organized by Progression Global. These awards have been constituted to honour and celebrate the efforts and success of all key contributors who are playing a role in turning the dream of a sustainable greener planet into reality.
The environmental awards are classified into several categories and are open to all leading organizations in India engaged in activities related to improving the quality of life through sustainable environmental development. The 2022 edition featured a selection of entrants in a live forum event plus a wonderfully interactive and immersive online broadcast of the same.
Working across India and South East Asia, CDE Asia’s breakthrough sustainable sand solutions are a driving force in reimagining waste management and recycling solutions to usher in a future that’s smart, resilient, and sustainable. CDE Asia’s Health Awareness and medical testing camp aim to shed light on the prevention and cure of chronic ailments
CDE Asia recently organized two health awareness camps on January 6th and 13th, 2022 at its Headquarter Office in Kolkata in collaboration with AMRI Hospitals to boost awareness about chronic health conditions and provide free medical testing with doctor consultation.
An ardent believer in community service and holistic wellness of human capital both inside and outside, the organization has been consistent in fulfilling social commitments that improve the quality of life of those around us. Health, being the foundation of well-being and the building block for professional competence, has been one of our focus areas.
Unfortunately, India ranks highest in people suffering from chronic and ‘silent killers’ such as cancer, diabetes, and heart ailments (WHO study). Sand Grains Foundation recently conducted a tree plantation drive at Newtown, Kolkata as part of their Carbon Offset Program
At Sand Grains Foundation,we recently conducted a tree plantation drive ’41 Shades of Green’ to inaugurate the new Green Verge 5 (Action Area 1B) at New Town, Kolkata.
The event was held in association with Bengal Chapter of Harley Owners Group and 41 Clubs of India, an organization working to serve the needy and underprivileged. 200 saplings were planted to further our cause to offset carbon emissions and live sustainably in harmony with nature.
Established in 2021, the Sand Grains Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that has always fostered sensitivity towards our resources – natural and human. Our environmental program entails achieving Net Zero by 2030. The project revolves around offsetting carbon emissions by planting and nurturing trees thereby aiding the development and use of renewable energy resources. We aim to plant 25,000 trees by 2025-2026 and have taken various other measures for reducing carbon emissions and minimizing our footprint on the planet. On the social development front, unleashing human potential through education and providing medical and developmental aid to backward populations has featured among our priorities.

IMME 2022 presented the ideal platform to showcase CDE Asia’s mineral beneficiation technology

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized India's Largest and most Focused Trade Fair for the Mining Sector. The 16th edition of the International Mining & Machinery Exhibition 2022 (IMME 2022), was held at Eco Park, Rajarhat, Kolkata, India between 16th to 19th November 2022.
IMME 2022 showcased the latest and diverse range of Mining Machinery, Equipment, advanced technology solutions, services, and supplies from India and abroad. Since its inception in 1984, IMME has been the largest mining exhibition which brings together the key players of the segment, contributing to the growth of the Mining sector in India.

Patel Aggregates LLP commissioned CDE Asia’s latest Combo X150 and tasted success in their M-Sand producing expectations for two crucial projects in Gujarat
An eminent name in the quarry and construction industry, Patel Aggregates LLP, commissioned a Combo X150 plant from the flagship Combo platform of CDE Asia for an unhindered supply of graded M-Sand in two extensive projects in Gujarat - the Bullet Train and the Surat Metro Rail Project.
The Mumbai – Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR Bullet Train) project is a 508.17 km High-Speed Rail line planned to connect Mumbai (Maharashtra) with Ahmedabad (Gujarat) through 12 stations The Surat Metro with 2 lines and 37 stations is a mass rapid transit system (MRTS) being built to serve Surat, the second largest city in Gujarat, by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC).
After a series of detailed discussions and developing an understanding of the client’s specific requirements, the CDE Asia team introduced them to their latest innovation in the Combo line of sand washing equipment - Combo X150 - ideal for consistent, finest quality M-Sand supply.
Combo X150 is equipped for feeding, grading, dewatering, water recycling, conveying, and sludge handling. The plant has the capacity to produce consistently graded M-Sand with a high silt removal capacity of 15%. It has an impressive feed capacity of 150 TPH, 95% water recycling capacity, and up to 30% energy conservation capabilities. Combo X150 can operate for more than 18 hours a day and has a compact design that requires a significantly lesser geographical area to install. The plant is an ideal solution for saving the overall cement consumption in construction.
Powered by advanced European technology – Combo X150 can efficiently process the VSI dust from crushing operations to produce quality concrete M-Sand (Zone II), thereby adding to the client’s top-line profits. With a low energy requirement per ton of feed and a dust-free system, Combo X150 is a true powerhouse of potential with a total noise output below 80db.
The client proceeded to scout one of the existing CDE Asia plants in action at Chikhli and was further convinced of the company’s potential.
The Combo X150 plant was finally commissioned on April 2022 and has since then kept up to its promise of being a high-functioning system producing an abundant amount of consistent quality sand for the client’s upcoming projects in Gujarat.
To date, the plant has run for more than 800 hours and produced a total of 80000 MT of sand.

CDE Asia organizes mass tree plantation drive to facilitate its mission of ‘net zero carbon emission' by 2030

Sand Grains Foundation, our CSR wing organized a mass tree plantation drive on November 4, 2022, as part of CDE Asia’s efforts to extend the lifespan of natural resources by achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030. The exercise was carried out in collaboration with Hari Mitti Foundation which aims to facilitate all-round urban and rural welfare under its wide umbrella of activities.
Established in 2021, Sand Grains Foundation has always fostered sensitivity towards our resources – natural and human. The Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that promotes environmental sustainability, self-reliance in the youth workforce, and equitable distribution of healthcare benefits among the poor and deprived. The plantation campaigns revolve around planting and nurturing trees thereby aiding the development and use of renewable energy resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Singh, Director of Sand Grains Foundation, said, “We believe that natural resources must be replenished organically and tree plantation is one of the most pertinent ways to offset carbon emissions, protect the environment and promote sustainable living. We are delighted to see everyone come together and join us on this noble cause. ”
The entire team of CDE Asia Group along with their friends and family gathered at NKDA Verge 6 in Kolkata’s New Town area to plant trees and enhance the city’s green cover. Around 450 saplings of different plants and shrubs were planted. The plantation included trees like Neem, Peepal, Sal, Banyan, Betel Nut, Amla and Palm. The event was followed by an excellent lunch and a lucky draw. There were lots of giveaways that were handed out to the CDE Asia family. The gifts were distributed by Mr. Sanjay Singh. The last leg of the goodies ceremony was reserved for Mega giveaways for the event.

NCC Limited partners with CDE Asia for Samruddhi Mahamarg Project

Led by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), Samruddhi Mahamarg or Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, India’s longest Greenfield Road project, connecting Nagpur and Mumbai aims to minimize the commute time between the two cities from 14 hours to 8 hours. It is a planned 6-lane wide (expandable to 8), 701 km long access-controlled expressway, comprising a total of 16 packages. Package 3 of the project has been awarded to NCC Limited. Supposedly the longest package in the entire project with a scope of 73.367 km, it will connect the villages Ashta and Wadhona Ramnath in the Amravati district.
NCC Limited, with more than 4 decades of operations, has a legacy of contributing to prominent urban infrastructure projects with uncompromising standards.
Even before receiving the official documents for the allotted package, NCC Limited approached CDE Asia, the pioneer in the wet processing equipment for M-Sand for a partnership on this gigantic project. After their initial meeting with the CDE Asia officials, Mr. Krishnam Raju, General Manager of NCC visited one of their clients’ site in Karnataka, which further boosted his confidence in the CDE Asia plant.
Understanding the importance and immensity of the project at hand, we aimed to secure the client’s trust by introducing him to the finest product from our flagship Combo platform – Combo X70. The plant has the caliber to process crushed rock fines to produce Manufactured Sand (M-Sand) with an accurate cut point of 75 microns of fine particles and requires minimal maintenance. It is equipped with feeding, grading, dewatering, water recycling, conveying, and sludge handling functions, making it an admirable feat in the field of wet processing equipment. The sophisticated plant features our patented Hydrocyclone and thickener combo technology to ensure consistent production of M-sand quality as per IS Standard (Zone I-IV).
The breakthrough technology employed ensures sustainable use of resources, such as zero effluent discharge and more than 95% water recycling capacity. The plant causes no additional pollution and promotes optimum resource utilization and output recovery. Impressed with the plant’s cutting-edge features, such as the customizable feed capacity of 70-100 TPH, and ability to function at an optimum power capacity of 110 KW, NCC decided to commission four plants at once!
As a result of the smart decision to deploy our expert technology, CDE Asia and NCC Limited successfully collaborated to accomplish the production of a huge quantity of M-Sand for the project. The scope of work included the construction of 2 interchanges, 18 service roads, 26 cart tracks, 1 flyover, 4 major bridges, 1 Road over Bridge, 50 minor bridges, 23 VUPs, 9 LVUP, 33 PUPs, and 74 culvert boxes.
NCC started work in mid-2019 and wrapped up the project in two and half years. Completing the project amidst the ongoing pandemic was a challenge but the efficient and hassle-free operation of CDE Asia’s sand washing plants enabled the supply of adequate quantities of M-Sand in due time and facilitated in completion of the project on time.

The plants have run for about 17,000 hours and produced nearly 12.3 lakh tonnes of sand for the entire package. CDE Asia onboards Stefan Hunger as an Associate Director of Business Development (South East Asia)

Stefan will be responsible for strengthening the company’s presence in South East Asia with his valuable contributions to the business strategy and the deployment of major projects in the region.
CDE Asia has onboarded Stefan Hunger as an Associate Director of Business Development for Southeast Asia. Stefan has 15+ years of experience in the mineral resource industry across Europe, Africa, and Latin America. He is a fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals, and Mining and CEng registered by the Engineering Council.
Stefan has gained recognition as an ambitious and driven strategic international business leader with a record of success gained in the mineral resource and manufacturing industries. He uses strong general management, technical competence, business, and systems experience to improve operations, impact growth and maximize profits in competitive environments.
In his last position as CDE Global’s Regional Manager for Europe and Russia, he was responsible for autonomously developing the company’s regional presence by recruiting and building a team and has effectively managed the full sales cycle in Latin America and Europe. He also contributed to establishing installations in more than 20 countries. His distinctive achievement has been the designing of what is arguably the most complex and sophisticated Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste recycling plant in Europe.

Sand Grains Foundation organized day-long activity for the SHM boys and girls

With the festive season around us, Sand Grains Foundation took the opportunity to arrange a day-long activity for the kids, women and teachers of Samaritan Help Mission (SHM), a not-for-profit organisation in West Bengal. SHM is committed to working for the emancipation and empowerment of poor children of the area who previously have been involved in various nefarious activities and local women who lack opportunities to join the mainstream of life through education and vocational training livelihood.
The theme for the occasion was ‘Step Outside, The World is Yours’. Sand Grains Foundation made a small effort to bring the women and kids of SHM out of the 4 walls of their homes. Real-world exposure makes experiences memorable and impactful. Connecting the dots between the inside and the outside increases individual motivation and opens up their minds to a world full of opportunities.
All of them came down to the CDE Asia premises from where they were first taken to the Green Verges in New Town where we have undertaken several mass tree plantations. The motive was to inspire them and let them know how planting trees will help create a brighter and greener future. Then they were taken to the Aircraft Museum where they saw the state-of-the-art naval aircraft that was in service of the country for almost 30 years. For students, in particular, the museum is a treasure trove. The purpose of this visit was to encourage the kids to engage in opportunities that come their way and release them from the confines of their social conditions.
Sanjay Singh, Director of Sand Grains Foundation said, “It was a delightful experience to spend the day and communicate with the women and children from SHM. We stand by the organisation’s mission to provide developmental opportunities to poor and needy underprivileged children with an emphasis on young girls.”
