Sketch request: post-daedalus c!awesamdream with c!Dream giving c!Sam a self-assured cocky look while c!Sam avoids his gaze and looks vaguely afraid but mostly just awkward. At least these are the vibes I get for their post-daedalus dynamic lol. Generally would love a sketch of a casual interaction between the two in that era, however you imagine such an interaction would go

heyyyyy :D my life's been a little hectic for the last few months but seem to finally be settling down a bit :] i want to get more into the groove creatively again, so sketch requests would be awesomeeee . and here have some c!dreamburs

y'know what i say that about c!eret but this is the same c!eret who's a museum curator (and, therefore, would be regarded by newcomers as someone in a position of authority whose word on history can be trusted) and flat out told c!aimsey that pogtopia was created to [checks note] stands up against dream's tyranny which i'm afraid is a retcon of literal observable reality worse than even c!tommy's reality retcons so who the fuck even knows if c!eret was like aware of what was going on in that server at the time

c!eret's boss was a literal mercenary known for being largely self-interested and therefore impartial (in the sense that the only side he was on was his own) and actively being employed by BOTH SIDES OF THE FUCKING WAR and somehow they really wanted to aid pogtopia and also keep their crown but they simply couldn't have done as a king does and. y'know. told the kingdom's war general to go and do the thing for them????

the dumbest part of c!eret's dethronement is that they wouldn't be having that conversation if they started it with "dream, i am king and so my hands are tied, but i believe the correct thing to do is to aid pogtopia. as your king i am asking you to aid them on my behalf, but do it from the shadows so that nobody may know of my involvement and cause a diplomatic crisis" and c!dream would've just been like "oh i am way ahead of you"

Speaking of c!eret, sometimes I also feel like the betrayal of L'Manburg and c!Dream's manipulation was misunderstood by a lot of people and reinforced by time passing.

I have bias as a c!dream fan but, while I know c!dream did gave big arguments for c!eret to switch sides, I never saw it as manipulation : for me it was pretty clear from the start what c!dream was proposing since c!eret wasn't surprised by the control room and, in the first few months, c!eret did get the crown of the dsmp. I don't see how c!eret got manipulated (influenced, sure, but L'Manburg was probably going to lose so c!eret decision wasn't a dumb one)

Anyway : your thoughts about it ? Is it totally wrong or do you agree or another third option ?

Prefacing this with the fact that I have them blocked so I won't risk them seeing hate, but personally I'm of the opinion that when cc!Eret failed to grow to the heights that cc!Tommy and cc!Wilbur did, they blamed it on the "bad reputation" they perceived themselves to have as a result of their character's actions, when the truth is that the audience just wasn't all that interested in their inconsistent nothingburger of a character.

And, so, in an effort to make their character seem more interesting (or moral) so they could get the spotlight they believed they deserved, they ended up filling their lore with the hollowed out bones of concepts from better stories without ever going forward with it, such as claiming the complete and utter nonsense that they were "the first victim of c!Dream's manipulation" right when c!Dream had literally just become a manipulator and was gaslighting the shit out of c!Tommy.

Of course it's fucking nonsense. At the end of the war, when c!Dream is explaining to c!Wilbur how the hierarchy works, in order to ensure that c!Wilbur is fully agreeing to the terms of the deal with c!Tommy (that L'manberg is not its own independent entity, though it can call itself whatever the hell it wants), he explains that he is in charge of the server affairs, and c!Eret is in charge of the land. He says this explicitly and c!Eret explicitly agrees that this is the case and has no objections to this description.

The only fucking reason c!Eret gets mad about c!Dream's "tyranny" and cc!Eret tries to be like "c!Dream's manipulation" is that they were under the impression, out of their own fucking greed, that being king somehow gave them absolute, unchecked power above c!Dream. Every single complaint c!Eret has about their kingship is that they don't get to do whatever they want for their own personal benefit (throwing their entire fucking country into a war against an allied faction they just had a war against because they want c!Wilbur to like them) and cc!Eret kept trying to coat those incredibly selfish reasons in empty morals based entirely on fanservice. They were only "the first victim of Dream's manipulation" (rolls eyes) specifically because c!Tommy was being severely victimized by c!Dream on his manipulator arc and cc!Eret wanted a piece of that cake for themselves. There is literally no other reason for it.

like i just think it's pretty significant that when we're talking about early l'manberg we're all aware we're actually talking about c!wilbur and the handful of younger people he held a lot of power over, including his own son he neglected, the boy he has an enmeshed relationship with, the boy that boy has an enmeshed relationship with, and, like, jack manifold who he often pretended not to know existed. the only person c!wilbur was unable to exert control over in some way was the one person who was not originally a member of l'manberg, and c!eret paid for it by spending the next year and a half trying to redeem themselves for doing what was objectively the right thing
