Slightly longer post, but I want to ramble about my pokemon head canons.

There’s a few pokedex entries that mention aura and I have a few theories/headcanons. I think that all pokemon and people in the pokemon universe have aura, but pokemon have enough to use attacks and protect from injuries. HP seems to the legal limit of what a pokemon can use in a battle. A pokemon’s aura can act as buffer blocking pain and injuries, but after a pokemon hits the fainted status, the aura is at zero and they can be injured. The games do state that if you lose a fight, you run back to the pokemon center to protect your team from further harm, so you could go past the legal limit but choose not to. You can also still use HM moves with a fainted pokemon if need be.

This opens some interesting worldbuilding opportunities. Organizations like Team Plasma rise to power over concerns that trainers will push past those limits. The league can only do so much, if a trainer is out training in the wilderness and goes past the limit, they might not be stopped. As someone that’s a fan of the great pokemon war theory (I might make a post about that in the future), some members could’ve been veterans of the war and have seen what happens when you push past the legal limits. They don’t want pokemon battles to be glorified. It would also make sense for Ghetsis to have people like that around to convince N that all Pokemon battles will eventually lead to that.

For people, there’s more variety in aura level than pkemon. The people with the highest aura level can have supernatural and pokemon-like abilities. People like N, Sabrina, Riley, and that one dude that can inverse types would all be people that utilize their aura naturally. Things like keystones or ranger styler could be ways of amplifying or using it artificially.

The revive crystals that the player can find could be high concentrations of aura in gem form that restores HP quickly. (The Pokemon Centers seem to have a way of recharging the revive crystals, or maybe it’s some other magic rock like the keystones.) There’s also items like the Red and Blue Orb or the Gracidea that boost certain pokemon’s power.

Anyways, that’s my rambles today. I do got another post planned for my head canons on mega evolution. Might do some art for it. I got too much now that I’m on summer vacation so stayed tuned lol.

Got around to doing a little character sheet for Kellyn. I gave him his Pachirisu back because I played too much Shadows of Almia to think that he would leave his little buddy behind. I imagine Patch is a little too old to be fighting as often as Kellyn is on mission. Maybe against the pirates? I head canon a few battles between the pirates and the rangers offscreen.

I also gave him shields on his styler since the eye piece thing is serving as the communication device. I got some future drawings where the shields will become pivotal. Revisiting some of the fanfic gave me ideas (and made me cringe cause I wrote it three years ago when I was sleep deprived on the bus lol).
