“Oh, I’m definitely excited for classes to start back up. Can’t you tell?”

“No, it isn’t, but it is the school I work in. I have to tell you off, otherwise McGonagall won’t be happy. Plus, you’re one of hers, right? Gryffindor alumni?”

Cecilia practically grinned at the nickname. “If I’d wanted, I could’ve stayed in the castle. But- I admit, spending it at home sounds much better. I haven’t been there since our argument.”
Tumblr media
“I’d- I’d love for you to come, Cece. And I know Mum and Dad would too. Besides, what’s the other option? Spending it alone?”

Cecilia can’t help but chuckle quietly at Roy’s scare. “That’s a car.” She points out, shaking her head gently. “Would you like a coffee?” She asks, before walking in front of him, darting between cars as she crosses the street, shouting an apology to the car that beeps it’s horn, as she narrowly avoids getting hit.
“Be careful, cars hurt.” She says, pressing her lips together so she doesn’t laugh. “There’s a shop that sells coffee around the corner, it’s lovely. It’ll warm you up whilst I show you around.” She smiles, pulling her warm jacket tighter around her shoulders. “How did you get here, anyway? You don’t look like you came here on purpose.”
As they reach the coffee shop, she pushes the door open, smiling up at the jingle of the bell. She walks to the back of the queue, which is almost out of the door. “Have you ever been to Ealing before?”
Lost but Found : Roy + Cecilia
The warming charm he’d cast on himself begins to fade, signaled by the chill that seeps into his fingers and the realisation that it will be difficult to recast the spell in such a densely muggle space forces Roy to shove his hands into the pockets of his trousers and hope for the best. The man offers up a wry grin when Cecilia notices his concern and he sweeps his gaze around them for emphasis as he states, “Just a bit. I don’t know these parts so I’m rather–lost. Actually.”
The honk of an automobile sounds in the dusk of the evening and Roy’s head jerks around at the sound, eyes wide at the startling noise. When he looks back to Cecilia, his nose is beginning to redden as more of his body loses the spell’s strength.
“And well I am rather unprepared for the area and the cold. I can’t cast anything to stay warm given the area,” he adds with a frown. Roy has no issue with muggle areas but he’d never taken it upon himself to become more comfortable in them. Despite Adelaide having been a muggle studies professor, she was still born to a pure bloodline so even her knowledge had its limitations and they simply gravitated toward the areas most familiar to them. One hand slides free of his pocket as Roy rubs awkwardly at the back of his neck. “You seem to know where everything is. Mind showing me around? I was meant to be shopping for gifts anyway.”

There was a lovely row of shops down near where Cecilia lived. They were full of new and interesting items, things that were just begging to be bought. The eldest Owen sibling certainly wouldn’t call herself frivolous, but sometimes, especially around Christmas, she couldn’t help but splash out.
So far, she’d bought her Mother a book on Costume Design, and her Father a tie. It was a rather boring tie. But, she admitted, her Father was a rather boring man. She couldn’t seem to find anything for Zelena, no matter how hard she looked.
After another unsuccessful look-around, in another little shop, she walks outside, feeling discouraged about Christmas in general. Hearing her name, she raises her head, from where her gaze was firmly fixed on the ground, and meets the eyes of one Roy Greengrass.
The last time she spoke to this man was quite a while ago, and she recalls something about Boggarts and children, but he looks extremely happy to see her, and she smiles at him. “Oh, hello, Roy,” Cecilia greets, as he gets within earshot. “If you don’t mind me saying, you look rather worried.”
Lost but Found : Roy + Cecilia
The winter holidays had always been Roy’s favourite time of year growing up. Spending inordinate amounts of time and money on selecting the perfect gifts for his sisters and friends, always looking forward to the way their expressions flood with happiness when they unwrapped them. The camaraderie of spending time among friends drinking and laughing together. The bright lights and decorations that festoon shop fronts and music spilling out of open windows. Roy used to feel as if nothing could shatter the exuberant joy Christmas season brought out in him.
Now he feels as if everything is a little dimmer. Addie used to pour her own joy into the season, dragging him to different shops, pleading for extra whip cream on her hot chocolate. Now Roy stands at a street vendor, spotting so many things she would like but unable to purchase them. He doesn’t know where she chose to sequester herself and the thought of being unable to gift anything to her hurts more fiercely than he imagined.
Roy moves on and spots a vendor on the side alley of Diagon he traipses through that sports hand made jewellery he thinks Lyra might like. His fingers touch one in particular and seconds later his body is deposited into an alley, dingier and void of people. When he steps out of the alley, disoriented from sudden portkey travel, Roy looks around to find he’s in a muggle area.
Adelaide would have known how to navigate this part of London. Roy simply makes an aimless turn toward the right and begins to wander, slow and confused. The faces and automobiles, shops and songs sound foreign to him. Nothing familiar. That is, until a woman steps out of a shop he is near to passing.
“Cecilia!” Roy calls her name as he picks up the pace. A familiar face. Someone he teaches alongside at Hogwarts. The relief that floods his system is nearly palpable.

“Oh, Miss. McKinnon, I am sorry. Have you spoken to Professor Collins about perhaps getting a pain potion, to dull the ache?” She paused, frowning, “Are you alright? It’s unpleasant to think of anyone in pain. Especially someone with a brother like yours,”
Tumblr media
“Alright, basically long story short it ended with these two people getting in a fight right in front of the bar and I had to break it up which was very difficult and now my shoulder hurts.”

Using her other hand to block Lulu, Cecilia took the glass firmly, and drank what was left of it quickly. At Lulu’s confession, her eyes widened slightly. She’d suspected that the girl wasn’t straight, but she’d never had proof. She didn’t have anything against it, of course, and it didn’t really surprise her. “Well, your Mum is stupid to hate you for it.” At the mention of the two men, she frowned. “You’re not stupid, don’t you ever say that, Tallulah. You’re not.”
“You don’t know the half of it, Cecilia…” Lulu frowned, putting a hand out to stop Cecilia from taking her glass. “I’m also a lesbian, and a witch and my mother hates me for it. And for surviving when Tom and Benjy died. I’m- I’m stupid and reckless and- and I just really hate November.”

Cecilia stood in the doorway to the stables, looking over the unicorns, after casting a charm to keep them warm during the cold months. At hearing footsteps crunching in the snow, she turned around. “Gosh, you’re going to scare the animals. Come in, before the heat gets let out,” she said, letting the person walk in before shutting the stable door.

“You’re not a shit person, Lulu, not in the slightest.” Cecilia said, smiling lightly at the younger girl. “Don’t ever say that. Your family- well, your family shouldn’t hate you. You’re one of the best people I’ve ever met.” She said, noticing the half empty glass on the table, and pulling it away.

“’Celia. Ceels. Cecilalulia,” the brunette greeted, different variations of her friend’s name rolling off her tongue thickened by her accent. She’d been at the broomsticks for a while now. But she hadn’t caused trouble so it didn’t seem like the bar were going to cut her off, despite the fact she’d drank nearly an entire bottle of firewhiskey. “Wrong? Nothing… I’m a shit person, and what’s left of my family hates me, but y’know, I cope.”
