Ombre is a french word for shaded or shading. The hair world borrowed this and coined the ombre hairstyle. Ombre hair is generally darker at the roots until the middle of the hair shaft wherein it starts to gradually lighten to the ends. Balayage technique is what most hair gurus suggest to achieve this look and is usually ideal for those who would like to keep their hair as low maintenance as possible. Balayage technique is simply directly painting your hair strands without the use of foils, often seen when getting hair highlights.
A few weeks ago, I tried the whole ombre thing with a friend, DIY style. I have been doing my hair ever since I graduated from college, hair coloring, hair cut and trimming, YES, I do it myself. So, with a wee-bit hesitation in my heart, I bleached my hair >__<. It was scary to see my hair covered with bleach but I just started convincing myself that if anything goes wrong I was ready to chop it all off.
After hours of bleaching and painting in hair color, my hair was fine. YIPEE.
