Silvergifting Week will happen on August 5-11, 2024.

For the third time, Silvergifting week will happen on Tumblr, celebrating the relationship between Celebrimbor and Mairon | Sauron | Annatar. The purpose of this event is to encourage people to create works focused on this pairing (either romantic or queer-platonic). All kinds of fan works are welcome as long as they're created by you: fan art, fan fiction, headcanon, moodboard, fan craft, playlist, cosplay, meta, etc.

The tag of the event is #silvergiftingweek. When posting, use this tag and/or tag this blog @silvergiftingweek. Please respect general Tumblr content posting rules when participating in this event. Mature and potentially triggering content should be posted under cut.

Hey guys let me tell you about advance fee scams

I hope y'all are familiar with these in this day and age, especially my artists out there, because they're incredibly common.

About half an hour ago I posted a drawing and tagged it #artists on tumblr, and very quickly received this comment.

My scam radar went off immediately, due to the generic blog name and lack of any emotion in the comment, but I decided it might be an entertaining venture so I dmed them. They asked for a drawing "of these", and sent me a random selfie. I got the details and told them it would be $15, and they promptly offered me $300. At this point I know it's a scam, but I play along for funsies and give them my paypal. Shortly, they send me this image for "confirmation" (I blocked out my email)

And they began to insist that I checked my email. I looked in my spam folder and found the following email.

This is fake. This is not a thing. And the "you're to refund the $200.00 back" is the scam. They send vaguely official-looking emails at you to "prove" that they sent you the money, then have you send them $200 (or however much the scam is for). Then, surprise surprise, you're out $200.

I continued to play along for a bit, and in the second email "Paypal" told me that I had to refund the $200 before they could "credit the $300 to my account", along with these lovely threats.

And yeah, it's silly. But it's not silly if you don't know and get scammed. So. Spread, please! And thank you very much to @mlaurel for the opportunity to get these screenshots.

I have this hc that Sauron’s obsession with vanity led him to spend years studying Maedhros’ features and trying to emulate them. When he couldn’t get it right, the proportions always a little off, red hair never deep enough, he took his anger out on Mae and when that option was gone, tried to pull from others also renown for their beauty instead.

Fast forward a few centuries and turns out all that work wasn’t entirely useless. And Sauron knows exactly what to do with the features he was able to recreate. Weaving them into his new face, the line of Maitimo’s smile, the set of his eyebrows, the crease of his eyes, he puts just enough to be familiar, but not enough to set off any alarms.

Celebrimbor doesn’t know *why* he trusts Annatar so easily, just that he’s got a good feeling about him. The Maia reminds him of someone he can’t quite put a finger on, but it’s a good association and he doesn’t think on it too deeply. Grows to call him a brother in all but blood.

Of course we all know how that ends. And the last thing Celebrimbor sees is his eldest Uncle’s smile, a mockery of the warmth it should hold as Sauron finally ends his torture.

(Elrond, on the other hand, never saw Maitimo who used to laugh easily and play silly games with children. Only grim Maedhros. The gentle features Sauron steals are alien to him. A stranger with too many familiar features he can’t quite place, twisted the wrong way, leaving him deeply unsettled. It’s why he immediately tells Gil Galad to send Annatar away, hiding trembling hands in his sleeves.)

Babies can hear inside the womb. Maitimo humming against his ammë's belly and pressing his ear to it to listen to his baby brother/sister hum back to him off-key like a game. When Makalaurë is born loudly crying, Maitimo hums to him. Makalaurë stares at him wide-eyed but quiet before letting out his first laugh.

mindless and bloodthirsty Celegorm yes, but what about pre-darkening Tyelkormo, effortlessly charming, with an easy joke always on the tip of his tongue; quick to anger and hold a grudge, but just as quick to burst into warm laughter. So deeply in tune with nature he radiates a certain kind of ancient wisdom. Heavy gaze and a smug, charming smile. He speaks bluntly and harshly and yet with purpose, so his words land heavy, for better or worse
