I hate when people water down masrani as “a guy trying his best” because the real takeaway should be that no matter how much a billionaire may treat others nicely, no billionaire is ever going to be a good person. HE is the one who stopped the evacuation when one of his subordinates tried to call it in. his reasoning is that “we’ve invested too much in it”. it could’ve ended there, but he chose an investment over guaranteed safety.

he may like the dinosaurs, but they’re still profit to him. how else could he be a billionaire? on an individual level, he’s a fine person. he encourages his employees to get out more. but he still wouldn’t value them above an investment because he’ll send a squad of them to their death in an attempt to salvage it. no billionaire can exist without some level of disregard for employees

claire is clearly new wealth (later confirmed by the extended universe) which is subtle but extremely important in characterizing her connections to class in jurassic world. this is compared to simon who is inherited wealth. simon is blasé about the park’s statistics, more concerned with the emotional gratification of the park, while claire cannot help but constantly worry about how well they’re doing. she’s a worker who was recently allowed into the petit bourgeoisie class and she will do literally anything to keep it that way. meanwhile the actual bourgeoisie, like simon, live under the assumption that everything will work itself out. claire is all about the image of wealth (pantsuit, nice car, unapproachable tough persona) because she’s trying to maintain an idea that she belongs in the upper classes. meanwhile born upperclassmen, like simon, feel no need to peacock it because everyone Knows what they are. and it’s this exact need to be perceived as bourgeoisie that makes her so dangerous because she’ll make dangerous decisions in an attempt to keep her newly acquired wealth

Okay so I finally watched Jurassic world rebirth last night and overall I really enjoyed the film but how on earth is there like no whump for me to make gifs of!?! That's ridiculous. An entire Jurassic world movie and I have no Jonathan Bailey whump to gif? I mean I guess there was one scene kind of. He fell off a cliff but there were no repercussions at all. So that was kind of disappointing.

Buuuuut, and my nerd side is about to come out here, THE DINOSAURS! We got some super fun species in this film!!

I was super excited to see Dunkleosteus. I'm sure nobody else caught that but me cuz he's kind of famous where I'm at and where I work so I notice him on the spot (and yes I made gif of him lol). And they only showed the head in the movie which I found FUNNY because we have only discovered skulls of Dunkleosteus. No body. Just a cool small detail I'm not even sure they did on purpose but if they did i see it and I appreciate it.

The Mosasaur was super cool but he was like twice as big as Mosasaur's actually were. Like they weren't that big but that's fine cuz he was super cool and scary as shit.

The Spinosaurus was so good. This design is really really close to an accurate Spinosaurus.

The Saruopods are my FAVORITE dinosaurs so when I saw the Titanosaurus I wanted to cry. I only have one gripe with a Titanosaurus and it's the tail. I'm pretty sure they did not have tails THAT long and actually had shorter tails like a Brontosaurus or the Apatosaurus but ooooh that whole scene was beautiful. I love the long neck dinosaurs so much. And Henry crying at seeing one was my favorite scene in the movie.

This fucking broke my heart though:

That poor sauropod.

But I saw an Ankylosaurus!!! One of my favs!! YAAS!! This one glimpse at the Ank made my whole movie watching experience lol. We need more Ankylosaurus' in the movies.

So yeah I really enjoyed the movie but damn I wish I had some whump to gif!!!

Fixing the JP narrative!

Alan and Ellie remain together and have twins, Jack and Margaret.

Jack is named after Jack Horner, a famous paleontologist which funnily enough is who the character of Alan Grant is based off of. Jack takes off of his mom with a bright energy and love of botany.

Margaret came from Margaret Murie, a famous naturalist and conservationist. She's more on the serious and blunt side like her dad and shares his passion for paleontology.

Finally got to see Jurassic World Rebirth! It was fun. Plot wise not the strongest in the franchise, felt like it was missing some cohesion. But I liked the characters and the casting was good and solid. New dino designs held up well, and I really liked how it took a look at the trial and error side of the genetic engineering. Overall a solid addition to the franchise.

I liked the detail that Henry was a student of Alan. And that he has some Ian style dialogue. Headcanon he totally spent time around the Trio when he was a student.
