i truly think that so much of the tragedy that is Anakin Skywalker could have been avoided if his friends had just fucking stood by his side, if they had been with him; if he had any form of support at all from the people he loved then he would not have Fallen.

now, granted, Anakin clearly does not like opening up to people. this is shown more clearly than anywhere else in the prequels; TCW, even though i love the show, seems to portray him as more of a collected and mature general in control of his emotions (mostly). that's fine, i guess, not the point though.

the point is that Anakin Skywalker was clearly abused and traumatized, and almost definitely had some form of a mood disorder as well. from the moment he stepped foot into the Temple, he was attached to Obi-Wan, to Padme, to his troops, to his little sister Ahsoka. we clearly see him go through phases where he loves and adores Obi-Wan, then switches to hating him within the span of a few seconds.

Padme and Obi-Wan are, of course, more prone to his outbursts than Ahsoka or Rex or any of the other clones or Jedi, but i'd like to think they could all sense Anakin's tells to an extent. he's born of the Force, for crying out loud- i imagine it would be almost impossible to hide any sort of intense emotion when the Force is with you and intertwined with your very existence at all times. especially when around other Force-sensitives.

which, to me, begs the question- why didn't anyone step in and help? i mean, sure, Padme tried, even if it was too late by then. and she might have succeeded too, if Obi-Wan hadn't been standing there like a bitch out for blood. maybe if Ahsoka had been there with Anakin and Mace, she could have pulled him back to himself. maybe if Obi-Wan had taken Anakin with him the whole incident could have been avoided. maybe if, maybe if, maybe if.

i guess the whole point of a tragedy, though, is that it was always supposed to happen this way. nothing could have stopped or changed the outcome, despite what we as the viewers see and are hoping for. the first domino had toppled long before Anakin was even born, and he just happened to be the last piece the Sith needed. despite being born of the Force- despite being freed from slavery on Tattooine at nine years old- despite becoming one of the most powerful Jedi ever to set foot in the Temple- despite fighting as a force for good for YEARS in the clone wars- despite all of this Anakin Skywalker began and ended his life carrying out the will of other people. he was not born free, and he did not die free.

and i guess to me, that's one of the most sickening things about the Fall of Anakin Skywalker. he was alone and enslaved when it could have been avoided if he was surrounded by the people he loved.
