I loved Nessian in ACOWAR—their dynamic was absolutely amazing. Now look at them in ACOSF… I genuinely had no idea what was going on! The writing and the plot just didn’t work for me. And now here I am, hoping for so much with Elriel, but I can’t help thinking the book might not deliver if they're confirmed.

I think Mass just got ahead of herself when writing the first “spicy” acotar book and essentially entering a new genre. She focused to much on the physical aspect instead of balancing Nessians relationship out, sad to say though her book was on par with many romantasys that all follow the same route. Lust > love. The plot consisted of foreshadowing we would need later and basically just training so we can see more of Nesta healing - acosf was like a filler book before the main action takes place.

I think Mass has had a lot of experience and time to sit on elriel and decide on what to do with them, even though they aren’t a couple yet Elriel have had some of the most iconic, memorable moments together in this series…dare I say more then Nessian? So im not too worried about them. Unlike with Nessian, I feel like Sjm has made it even more clearer with elriel how they balance each other out and work together flawlessly, we’ve had a mixture of fluffy, domestic scenes with spicy tension (bonus + acosf) as well as core dynamic scenes, its a good balance already. Something Nessian lacked overall. I also feel like, the next book has to get the plot rolling because essentially it might be the last book of the current timeline with A6 being a potential prequel. So knowing elriels’ book is plotheavy already makes it more appealing especially compared to Nessians book which just felt still for about 700 pages. The main action being the rite and nesta going to the bog/prison.

This also will be the book that will either put Sjm back in the game or out of it. I feel like its her last chance of ending her legacy in fantasy on a good, positive note and making sure she continues being a hyped up, must buy author. If acotar 5 flops then I truly believe - other then the absolute OGs - Sjm would lose her momentum and ig fade away. Just another name in a sea of fantasy authors. So I truly do believe Mass is going to put her all into this book.

I think I finally understand where the obsession with mating bonds comes from:

Feysand.

It’s silly, yes, but some people really believe that having a bond allows mated couples to communicate through their minds. But they forget that Feyre and Rhys are both daematis. The only reason they can talk, have full conversations, banter, or argue through the bond is because of their shared gift.

We’ve already seen how it works between Nesta and Cassian. They can sense when the other is in pain or something similar, but they don’t have what Feysand has--and neither do other mated couples. (Feyre and Rhys are protagonists for a reason.)

A mating bond is a deep connection between two souls, yes—but it’s not that glorious, wonderful thing people make it out to be, especially if the pair is wrong for each other.

This scene just fills me with so much warmth. Azriel, the broodiest man in the IC, actually laughs. Not a dry chuckle. Not a sarcastic huff. But a real, deep, joyful laugh. Because of Elain🌸

And what makes it even more beautiful?

He keeps that bottle — the headache powder Elain gave him — on his nightstand. Not to use. Just to look at. Every. Single. Night. That man is out here staring at that tiny little bottle like it holds the meaning of life.

Tell me again this is “just lust.” Lust doesn’t look like a grown man emotionally bonding with a bottle of powder at bedtime. He’s literally staring at the reminder that someone cared.

Elriel is about the little things.

The unsaid things.

The you didn’t ask, but I still made something just for you things.

The I keep a bottle on my nightstand like it’s a damn relic because no one’s ever cared like that things.

The I look at the headache poweder every night because I can’t let it go things.

You can call it “nothing,” Azriel called it “invaluable.”

we have to start expressing vocal disgust at 'ironic' homophobia again in a big way. if you can't explain to me how calling a guy a twinky little fruitcake valorises the terminology vs. reducing and demeaning him for perceived femininity I don't want to hear it. nobody is off the hook for this.

Enchanted by Nature: First Look at CAS

EA just shared on The Sims official social media channels a small video providing simmers with a first look at Create a Sim (CAS) items from the upcoming The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack.

The teaser shows off a few outfits and hairstyles across different age groups, as well as traits and fairies customization options.

The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature Expansion Pack will come out on July 10th. Next week, on June 26th, its gameplay trailer is being released.

Reading Throne of Glass for the first time, and I've just realised something. About the crown of stars that Manon reclaimed for the Crochan witches. "Yet a phantom breeze lifted the strands of Manon's hair as the crown glowed bright, the white stars shining with cores of cobalt and ruby and amethyst." -Kingdom of Ash.

A crown of stars. Stars, like the Night Court. Cores of cobalt—the colour of Azriel's Siphons, ruby—the colour of Cassian's Siphons, and amethyst—the colour associated with Rhys, with his eyes of violet starlight.
