really is bizarre the way fandoms largely do not like women at ALL. it’s been happening for ages but when you see people straight up just hating on women characters more often now (+ the general rise in misogyny) and then you come on here and everyone’s just pretending women don’t even EXIST in any media ever. it’s like that’s not much better. fandom isn’t activism but it does reveal people’s internal biases. like women being excluded, sidelined and erased in everythingggg. people will take characteristics that are compelling in a female character and give it to a man in fan content just so they don’t have to engage with a woman ever. fics, fan art, ships, etc. a hollywood produced movie/tv show won’t even sideline a woman as much as the average fandom blogger will

i love sora sooooo muuuuuuuuch i love taking the ‘whuh oh! the main character now suddenly has a clone/mirror version/other alternate copy of themself!’ trope and instead of making it like ooooh the shadow self is evil and they gotta kill each other. which they do in others of these pairs in the same series. sora in the brief time he knows about roxas and gets to see him is mostly confused and emotionally overwhelmed but he never means any harm to him aaarrhhhhggghhghhh. what if you met another version of you and your default was love instead of hate. like roxas is inclined toward hate at first but only bc he’s been manipulated and left confused but when he actually gets to know sora he also loves him. aaaahhghhuhgghg

(Looking at the possibility of rewatching Ouran, like I want to potentially do the Zuka club episode because it is pretty funny, as far as the climax goes, then I saw in the tag I'd noted the manga version was less gross, and I checked and it is way less gross, just by virtue of not including a "feminazi" salute why the hell did the anime add that.) so if loved ones want to watch it with me I can say "here let's just read the manga" for that one.
