i've talked before about how MARIA'S LEGACY IS CELESTE'S ABILITY TO LOVE; it's in there somewhere, and it's a warmth that celeste still hasn't discovered or gotten access to.

but celeste IS AWARE of maria's existence, she doesn't have a name for it, but she knows that one of her genetic components comes from A HUMAN GIRL that had her blood scattered in space.

maria's existence, somehow, TERRIFIES CELESTE; it's something that intimidates her greatly, both because the simple fact that the fact she's in her makes her CLOSER TO EARTH, and because IT MAKES HER FEEL THINGS THAT ARE CONFUSING.

and, worst of all, with maria being dead, celeste doesn't get the answers to many questions she'd have. in time, she'll learn to CHERISH that part of herself.
