"Chibi, Chibi!" The Prince yipped as he hurried over to the other canine. His tail wagged happily behind him as he nuzzled his boyfriend affectionately. He was very glad to see him and it appeared as though he had something in mind for them on top of that. "I wanna show you something cool! But it's a secret. You can't tell ANYONE. So you HAVE to promise before I take you there!"

The young deity smiled as he saw his boyfriend approach, his own tail wagging as he nuzzled Mitsuko in response. Chibi blinked a few moments after his boyfriend had spoke, before he gave a small grin. If there was any positive trait that both sun deities shared, it’s that they always followed through with their promises. Though he was curious, what did Mitsuko have to show him that made keeping it secret a requirement?

“Don’t worry Mitsuko. I won’t tell another soul, I promise.”

[🐾] Truthfully, he had been worried about what they were going to think of the drawing. He had tried his best to make it look as nice and neat as he could. He never drew anything before so to say it was less than perfect would have been an understatement, but it warmed his heart to hear that the other two deities thought so highly of his mere drawing.

Mitsuko chuckled sheepishly at the hug and he returned it of course. He beamed at the praise, tail wagging happily behind him. He was relieved that they really liked the messy drawing he had done.

“Thank you! I’m glad.”

Amaterasu gave a nod in response, looking at the drawing again with a smile. She gave a small chuckle as she looked around the room. Seems like he decorated more than what he was aiming for. 

“Don’t worry about your skill. Chibi started off barely able to draw a proper circle.” She looked at him again. “Though it’d probably be best to clean up the house. You may have gone outside the canvas a bit. Don’t worry, I won’t tell.” She said before heading outside to clean the inked pawprints Mitsuko left, leaving the two pups hugging.

Chibi gave a smile to his friend. “Mom got into a bit of trouble herself a few months before I was born. Dug up a yard of this woman’s turnips while she chased her.”

The two were somewhat curious as to what Mitsuko had planned, the wolves following their friend to whatever he wanted to show them. Upon seeing the drawing, the two stared at the art that the prince had created. Ammy’s face curled up into a warm smile as Chibi just hugged Mitsuko and started crying slightly, a bright smile on his face. The younger of the two deities was truly glad that Mitsuko considered him part of his family, and the same could be said for Chibi.

“I personally think it’s beautiful,” she said, gently patting the top of his head as Chibi nodded in agreement. 

[🐾] Having been impressed by Chibi and Ammy’s abilities to be able draw things, Mitsuko wanted to try it too. He had dipped his tail into some ink he had found and tempted to draw something. Needless to say, it didn’t quite go as he blamed, but he did his best. That had to count for something right? …Minus getting ink everywhere and all over his fur. His parents weren’t going to be very happy once they saw the mess, but did the little prince care at the moment? Not at all. He was just proud of his work and it clearly showed as he had an even bigger spring in his step than normal.

“Chibi! Miss Ammy! I wanna show you something!” he yipped happily at the other canines. There was a trail of inky pawprints behind him as he had stepped in some of the ink.

Mitsuko led the two back to the room where he had worked so hard to draw his new found art and his tail wagged behind him as he looked back at the other wolves.

“I wanted to try drawing like you guys! So I made art of Mama, Papa, me, and you two! ‘Cause I consider you guys family. Do you like it?”

[🐾] “Woow! Did you really fight an eight-headed snake?! That’s so cool!”

Mitsuko was an easily impressed puppy that was for sure. He only ever heard tales of things like this in stories alone. Fairytales of times long past. But to be standing next to one such tale in a way, was the greatest thing ever to the small prince. He bet the she-wolf had a lot cool stories to tell. But there was a time and place for that.

“In a way, yes.” He nodded his head towards the left where a dark shadowy land could be seen far across the horizon. “That’s Sunkao, the Land of Darkness. Along ago there were two siblings–Okimi and Sunako–and they ruled over Arrian together. But Sunako turned traitor and tried to kill their sibling and so Okimi banished them and those that followed them to that place over there. For eons after, Okimi and Sunako have been at war. We want to protect Arrian and keep it safe while Sunako want to spread darkness and rule it. Corrupt it I guess. Or so the story goes. It changes a lot depending on who you ask.”

“Yep. His name was Orochi, and he used to terrorize the Kamiki Village,” she explained. She pat his head as she smiled. It was good to be able to recount her adventures with someone who wasn’t either able to see the future or was with her through it.

“Geez. Well, that’s not too unlike what Yami attempted. He had pretty much engulfed all of Nippon in a curse and turned everyone to stone until Sakuya, the spirit of the Konohana tree, revived me.” She showed him the reflector she got from Sakuya, Divine Retribution. The rim of the Divine Instrument was engulfed in flame.

[🐾] Mitsuko was happy being with him too. The little kitin enjoyed being with Chibi. He didn’t feel like moving or going anywhere anytime soon. Not even he was so close to the other wolf that he cared for so deeply. He hoped that one day they would be more then just friends, but until that day came, he was okay with this. Anytime he got to spend with the sun god was a score in his book.

“That means a lot that you like it that much. I’m glad.”

He smiled and gently nuzzled the kitin, his tail wagging behind him. He then just relaxed his head on the prince’s shoulder, closing his eyes again. He seemed to be tired, and he hoped that Mitsuko didn’t mind the puppy falling asleep in his embrace. It didn’t help matters that he felt so cozy and warm when near him.

“Well, it’s a gift. Of course I like it.” He said sleepily, letting out a yawn.

The object in question was small and a deep purple color. A Sumire. The young prince stopped just before he ran into the other god, letting the flower gently fall before he nosed it over to him. “For you!”

Mitsuko began to lead the Sun Goddess back to the castle. He already had a feeling that his parents were going to be upset with him for sneaking out again. They really should know abut now that they couldn’t contain a clever little future ruler. He’d deal with his punishment like normal. They wouldn’t be too hard on him. They never were.

“I hope you like it here. I know Arrian is probably really different from Nippon, but I hope you enjoy your stay here, Miss Amaterasu. Arrian is a really pretty here. All the animals are super nice and friendly. …Mostly. There’s some bad ones though there no where near as bad as ones from Sunako.”

“I’ve dealt with an 8-headed serpent. I don’t think I have much to worry about.”

She let out a small laugh before she continued following behind the pup. Though she was kind of curious about Sunako... Was that sort of like a dark side? It’d make sense to the wolf goddess. After all, light casts a shadow in some form or another no matter what. 

“Is Sunako the shadow cast by this land’s light?” she asked. It was the best way she could describe it on the spot. It involuntarily made her think of the dark copy of her son that Akuro had created, Dark Chibiterasu. She was still proud of her son for erasing that abomination, though it sort of got her thinking... Could there be a world where there’s dark versions of herself and Chibi?

Chibi just relaxed against his friend, his eyes closing as he nuzzled up against the prince. He was content being like this for a while, being in the embrace of the one he had a crush on; the other wolf that may very well one day be his boyfriend. He very much appreciated any gift given to him, even moreso with it being from Mitsuko.

“Mhmm. The treasures I found in Nippon are great, but it doesn’t compare to gifts from friends.”

Chibi’s ear twitched as he heard the prince calling him.Turning to look, he was surprised to see Mitsuko carrying a deep purple flower in his mouth. Upon hearing that the flower was for him, his cheeks turned about as red as his markings. He certainly wasn’t expecting this kind of gesture, but it was appreciated regardless. His eyes began to water slightly as he broke out into a smile. The young sun god picked up the flower before putting it with his treasures for now to let him speak. To him, a gift from Mitsuko was always a treasure, and he promised himself to always keep it with him.

“Thank you, Mitsuko,” he said before hugging the other canine, a beaming smile on his muzzle.

[🐾] The young prince blinked curiously at the Divine Instrument. It was a strange thing to him. It wasn’t anything he’d seen in Arrian thus far, though he knew they had Divine things as well. Though they appeared to be different than the things that Chibi had. But given the fact that the two of them were come completely different places in the world, it only made sense.

“It sounds like you had quite the adventure then,” he commented as the instrument vanished from the other canine’s back. “My parents won’t even let me near the weapons around the castle. They don’t think I’m ready yet to wield them. I can barely control what powers I have, so I guess that makes sense. Even if it’s a real pain in the tail. I wouldn’t have to worry about Gidget and Gin if I had one of those. Or anyone from Sunako now that I think about it.”

He gently pat the wolf on the back. He had no idea who Gidget and Gin were, nor what Sunako was. From the language, he just assumed it was one of the lands in this world.

 “I know you’ll get it eventually, Mitsuko, and I’ll be by your side the whole way no matter what! If Susano, a guy that started out as some lazy person according to mom, can manage to take down Orochi, what’s keeping a pup that has so much potential? This ‘Gidget’ and ‘Gin’ don’t stand a chance.” He flashed a grin to the other pup. “Though I’m kind of curious, who are Gidget and Gin, and what’s Sunako?”

It had been quite sometime since Ammy and Chibi had arrived on Arrian. During that time, Mitsuko had gotten pretty close to the smaller God. So much so that the Light Prince was certain that he had developed feelings for the other canine. The problem? How to tell /anyone/. He wasn't sure if it would be accepted that he liked the other wolf and that scared him. He was supposed to set an example, but how could he when he had a crush on someone that wasn't even from the same Realm?

Chibi would be lying if he said he hadn’t been developing feelings of his own for Mitsuko. His tail wagged at the thought of the young prince, though he had little experience with this kind of thing. Issun would probably tease him about “puppy love”, or something like that. For now, he decided to keep it to himself until he felt the time was right. Standing up, he began to head outside to clear his head when he bumped into the object of his affections.

“Oh, hey Mitsuko!” Chibi greeted, sweating slightly.

[🐾] Mitsuko was curious about what his friend wanted to show him. His crimson eyes widened as he watched the crystals appeared out of thin air. He looked at the twin pairs of jewels around the other canine’s neck. He had never seen anything like it before.

“Ooh, it’s really cool looking!” he told him. At least it helped take his mind off the current situation. “You got it from a dark copy of yourself? So there’s like… an evil you?”

“Well, there was. It’s sort of a long story. In short: Akuro, a very powerful spirit, transformed into a mirror and began controlling my reflection before it jumped through. At the same time he was controlling one of my friends. My reflection had this Divine Instrument.”

The Divine Instrument vanished from his back. He was willing to do almost anything to keep the topic away from his feelings towards Mitsuko. Though he knew he’d have to tell him eventually.

[🐾] The answer was surprisingly quick, even for the other pup. His crimson eyes didn’t miss how the white fur around his muzzle turned a shade of red as much as the markings that covered his body. The small prince was sure his own face was probably warm too, but he didn’t think that Chibi returned his feelings. If anything, he thought it was out of embarrassment. He could only hope and dream that his feelings would be returned once he worked up the courage to actually confess his hidden feelings for the other magical canine.

“Well, okay… If you say so…”

He frantically tried to think of something to change the subject, as this was getting somewhat awkward. He then remembered one of the Divine Instruments he obtained: The Providence Crystal. The same one that his dark counterpart had used in their final battle. He hadn’t shown it to anyone yet since that battle took place.

“By the way, I kinda want to show you something.” He materialized the blue twin crystals on either side of his body, connected by a rope that went over his back, he looked at Mitsuko. “This is something I got from a dark copy of myself.”

As such, just being around the other canine made his heart beat against his rib cage so fast he thought it might burst from his chest. He did notice the way that Chibi also appeared to be nervous as well. He wondered why that was. Had someone told him that he liked him? Was it that easy to tell?

“O-Oh, um, yeah, I’m fine! Are you okay? You seem nervous too…”

[🐾] The smaller wolf felt nothing but warmth and happiness. He loved his mother so much. During his journey with Issun and all the other friends he had made along the way, he hoped he was doing a good job. He was but a young Celestial Brush God that was tossed into a quest to save Nippon from Akuro while Amaterasu worked her tail off to restore their home to its former glory after Orochi and Yami messed it up so bad.

Chibi couldn’t contain the chuckle from escaping him at the she-wolf’s comment about the annoying little bug as she liked to call him. Granted, he really was small enough to be one and could be just as much as a pest. But he was a good friend all the same.

“I think Issun misses you too. He just won’t admit it.” He nuzzled up against her side, enjoying her company and presence for as long as she stayed down on Nippon. He knew she’d have to go back to Celestial Plain before long. So he was going to enjoy her while she was here. “I missed you lots, too. I thought about you while on my journey.”

She smiled and laughed a bit with Chibi before she curled up and snuggled him close, quietly yawning a bit. She was quite tired from restoring their home, so much brushwork to be done. Their home was still a long time from being fully repaired, but she hoped that after it was done, she could just relax and spend time with her son.

“That does sound like Issun. I’ll admit, while I feel guilty about suddenly throwing you into saving the world, I’m proud of you for all the work you did, even with the bumps in the road.” She remembered when she became the King of Hole Digging, and smiled a bit.

Leaning down close to Chibi’s ear, she whispered. “Don’t worry about the bumps. I caused a bit of trouble in my own journey. Like digging up the turnips in Kamiki Village.”

[🐾] The small pup paced around in his room for awhile. He didn’t know what to do. He felt too many strange feelings all at once. He had never felt this way about anyone else before. It was all so new to him. It was a lot to deal with all at once. He had no idea what his parents would think if they found out that he liked Chibi in more ways than just a friend. That was what it was, wasn’t it?

This whole thing was confusing and stressing him out so much. He kept his mouth shut about the whole thing. He was unsure of his own feelings at the moment. Much less if the Celestial Brush God even returned his feelings at all. And even less so, if this would be acceptable. What would his mother and father think? What would they say? How would the others react? How would Amaterasu feel that he liked her son?

Mitsuko padded out of his room to think. He needed to think a lot of things over right now. He wasn’t expecting to bump into the very being that was the center of all this confusion.

“H-Hey, Chibi,” he greeted the other wolf back. “Funny running into you here, huh?”

Chibiterasu tilted his head in confusion at the other canine’s behavior. He was certainly acting a little weird in the brush god’s opinion, but he had little idea what it might be about. The thought that Mitsuko felt the same way about him as Chibi did for him didn’t cross the pup’s mind. What did cross his mind however, was whether or not to tell him...

No. It would be too sudden and too fast. He’d need to wait for a good time to confess his feelings, whenever that time came. Not to mention, what would their parents think of their relationship in the event Mitsuko had a crush on him too?! They’d probably flip the island!!

Chibi resolved to keep quiet for now and to not tell anyone about his affections, especially not Mitsuko’s parents. He feared they wouldn’t approve of him because he was an outsider.

“Yea, it is. You okay, you look kinda... nervous.” Nevermind the fact Chibi is sweating bullets.

“Of course, my little sun.” She lied down beside the young Celestial Brush god, her smile never fading even slightly. Her display of happiness was about as long-lasting as the sun’s very existence it seemed like.

“Maybe after everything finishes winding down, I can stay down here. As annoying and... bleh as he is sometimes, I do miss Issun, as well as everyone else. I miss you most of all, though.”
