Ngl the most interesting argument in favour of it is when the Roaring Knight turns into a ball, the ball has a yin-yang symbol on it, commonly used to represent a duality of opposing forces in balance.
Roaring Amalgam Theory (RAT) or is the idea that the Roaring Knight we battle at the end of Chapter 3 of Deltarune is not exclusively Dess or Papyrus, but an amalgamate of the two. This can be backed by physical and contextual evidence, and is what I consider the most satisfying answer to the identity of the knight. I am going to put the bulk of my evidence on this post, Expect anything else to be throwaway theories and goofing off

Just reblogging this post just to say we still haven't figured out the significance of the intro of Chapter 2 since it obviously doesn't make sense happening before Toriel finds Kris' knife in the pie dish.
notice how toriel drinks **red** wine in chapter 4, i bet she's gonna bleed in chapter 5 or at the end of the game, everytime a monster drank a red liquid they ended up bleeding

I'm just gonna write down my personal thoughts on what I think would happen later in the story if this theory is true. (Note I will assume Dess Knight for now since it's most likely in my honest opinion.)
First, We'll consider Kris's perspective. Given that the pacifist approach is most likely to be Kris's preferred behaviour, we can say that Kris agrees with Susie & Ralsei that: 1. While Kris treats Noelle as an ally the whole time, it takes the others listening to Kris to ultimately have her join the Fun Gang's side. 2. Berdly is seen as a minor obstacle who supports Queen, but changes side after hearing Queen's true plan. 3. Queen is the main boss of the chapter, but due to what happens at the end, she ultimately decides to spare The Fun Gang.
From this, we can conclude that: Dess is probably going to be treated as Susie and Ralsei's enemy for a little while, most likely Kris is going to explain to them eventually what happened to her and what Carol is doing right now, they'll convince them to treat her as an ally. Asgore is probably going to be found to be supporting Carol, but will only be doing that due to a misunderstanding related to Dess's current safety that Carol is intentionally causing. Carol will most likely be found to be the true mastermind, but will only be found to be acting as a result of a lack of information. (Most likely related to the prophecy given Queen's key missing information was not knowing about the Roaring, but I don't think we can apply the same logic to Carol.)
Next, we'll consider Noelle's perspective. Most of what we see Noelle do can be cut up into a few key points: 1. Noelle's connection to Kris appears to be slightly positive, with Noelle Tea gives 70HP to Kris with Noelle's reaction being "Umm, do they like it or not...?" implying uncertain feelings from Kris towards Noelle and Kris Tea giving 70HP to Noelle with Noelle's reaction being "Tastes like cinnamon! (What is this aftertaste...?)" with Noelle clearly liking Kris but having an offput reaction to whatever is up with the Player. 2. Noelle's connection to Berdly is awkward in nature: She is nice to him, but is slightly frustrated with him due to how he behaves. She is especially frustrated when it comes to liking Susie. (This will legimitately be important later, but I do think Susie AND Ralsei do play an interesting role here if this theory is true.) 3. Noelle's connection to Queen is not great: She clearly feels forced into enacting her plan even after hearing that Queen does care about Noelle's safety and is completely willing to go against her as shown at the end of the chapter after Queen threatens Susie's and the others lives.
From this, I would like to start this with how I think Susie & Ralsei connect to this theory: Specifically, I think they relate to Asriel. Ralsei represents the image of Asriel everyone in Hometown has of him, whereas Susie represents Asriel's true self. In other words, I think this theory would imply that Suselle and Dessriel will thematically parallel each other. From this, that could explain why The Knight has only acted very recently, since Asriel would be coming back very soon, and Dess's personal motives for what she's currently doing will have a connection to Asriel (Though if we take the bumper car scene into account, Carol is probably holding that against her). Other than this, we can also conclude that Dess and Kris are allies, with the both of them being concerned about their current condition. Dess's connection to Asgore is sorta positive given he is likely looking for her (similarly to how Berdly looks for Noelle) but doesn't like him following Carol's orders and is concerned about Asgore & Asriel's relationship. Dess's connection to Carol is absolutely antagonistic: Dess is most likely being forced to do specific things she does not want to do and is most likely betting on Kris & Asriel's help, though she will most likely be the one to stop Carol.
Next, we'll consider Berdly's perspective. Honestly, his paralleling with Asgore is honestly pretty crazy when you look into it because there are some behavioural similarities. When The Fun Gang meets Berdly, it's made rather clear that Queen is manipulating him with false information and that he wants Kris to join him, though Kris will personally disagree regardless. His battles make it clear that he sees Kris as a rival that is treated with regard as the "Number 3" student below himself and Noelle, he secretly fears that Kris may be better at puzzles than him. Berdly treats Noelle as a equal despite his arrogant tone and sees her as a key to academic success. This can be shown quite clearly during the scene at the front of Queen's Mansion, where despite Berdly wanting to build a perfect world for Noelle with Queen's help, after Queen threatens to 'make Noelle's face into a robot one' despite him supposedly promising to aid Queen in return for not doing that, he realises he is being used as a pawn rather than an equal in Queen's eyes and reforms. After escaping their prisons, we see Susie and Berdly talk about their backstories, Berdly reveals that the reason he supports Noelle is the result of a spelling bee that he and Noelle took part in, with his 'December' victory resulting in him getting a false impression of the world and then relying on Noelle to achieve a false expectation.
From this, Asgore's position can be understood very easily. Dess's disappearance case to Asgore functions similarly to Berdly's spelling bee victory. He assumes solving it will create a perfect world for the Dreemur's and the Holiday's(I presume that Asgore will most likely be doing this due to Kris & Asriel's connection to Dess). Carol is clearly using his obsession with it against him for her plan. However, Carol will probably reveal what she truly plans to do when Kris & Asriel are with him. She will likely reveal what she intends to use Dess for, and Asgore will most likely disagree with it. Asriel will most likely be the catalyst for getting the Dess disappearance backstory out of Asgore, since Asriel will most likely know about the case since he leaves for college after the disappearance.
Finally, we now look at Queen's perspective. From what is known of Queen personally, she can be described as enacting questionable actions and being naive, but is caring. Her relationship to Kris is suprisingly positive, liking Kris for their unbothered personality and lack of opinions, and makes a truce with Kris to find Noelle and distract Berdly (because he's kinda annoying). Her relationship to Noelle is complex in nature, since she seems to ask for her to be a 'willing peon' for 'world domination', but when she is unaware of Noelle's presence, she seems to respect Noelle's strength and shows not just concern for her well-being, but seems to have enough affection to call her by a pet-name and clearly wish for Noelle's happiness enough that Noelle's disobedience is responded to with her to 'choose the world that makes her happy'. Queen also has an interesting relationship to Berdly, choosing to make him a minion at first but regretting that later on as well as when you fight her, despite having clearly put a wire on Berdly, she only does it for him and shows concern for his safety when you use violence on him as if she knew pulling it off without mercy would cause harm to him she didn't intend.
From this, we can argue that Carol despite her position as a mastermind who is most likely causing harm, is most likely naive and caring. Since she seems the most likely to have an important connection to the Kris/Player issue, she most likely sees Kris's surface obedience to her as proof that not only do they care, but the Player does as well. (Though Kris most likely would have some negative thoughts regarding this issue and the Player could as well). Her connection to Dess does have similar abusive tones to Noelle, as she is most likely forcing her to take world-threatening actions to do something that she believes will lead to a positive outcome for her and those she cares about in the end, despite evidence to the contrary. While she does treat Asgore as a minion, she does legitimately sympathise with Asgore's desire to have a happy family again, most likely due to her having a similar motive. And if we take Queen's treatment of Susie & Ralsei into account here, then Carol knows Asriel well enough that Queen's ignorance of Ralsei would translate into Carol seeing Asriel as his true self rather than the Hometown image of him. However, Queen's treatment of Susie (especially near the end where she threatens Susie's life to Noelle) implies that Asriel will most likely be used against Dess by Carol, but Dess will probably stand up for herself against Carol.
Overall, that's what I think about this. I might add more into the future about what could be gotten from weird route stuff.

Plus my guess on what shape it would take if proven true, I guess.

I love the completely understandable observation that if the Player is like Bernkastel, then Gaster is absolutely our Lambadelta.
started watching deltarune device theory videos and mollystars has yet to mention umineko when they cry & may not . and its gonna make me go insane. you guys dont understand how much this whole thing smacks of umineko. like even beyond "what does it mean to love a fiction" and "game within a game" stuff.......out-of-bounds of the story being a sea? kris finding shards that seem to reflect an alternate world sometimes? bro...
