I only ever talk about Soul comforting Heart on this blog because I’m a big Heart fan (plus it makes sense for their dynamic in my eyes for Heart to be needy and selfish and Soul giving it to him even though he’s desperate for his own support) BUT I think it’s really important for Soul to get the recognition he deserves after everything he’s done to try and keep everyone together.

Heart sits next to Soul one day in early Concord and just randomly spouts “thank you. For everything” and Soul is confused but Heart keeps going. “For always believing in me, us, for loving me even when I’m bad.” I think Soul would kinda nervously laugh it off and say “of course” but Heart takes his hand in his own and practically crushes it with sincerity. Talking about how sorry he’s been for being so selfish, how much he loves and appreciates Soul, how this whole time he’s been ignoring his feelings for his own. I think Heart is very emotionally intelligent, and now that he’s in a better headspace is able to articulate these thoughts and recognize what he’s been doing.

The reality of it all hits Soul like a truck because he’s been waiting for this moment forever and he’s never felt more vindicated in his life. He pulls Heart into a hug on the verge of tears, so incredibly thankful that everything worked out in the end. All of his sacrifices are finally being noticed and appreciated.

“That’s all I’ve ever wanted to hear you say. Thank you.”

hi, i'm reading the greatest estate developer now. partway through, i started thinking about javier/lloyd, or lloyd/javi, or whatever the fuck you want to call it. now, on the topic of a javier/lloyd arranged marriage:

“...That’s not a terrible idea.”

What?

“What?” Lloyd cried out.

It would be natural to assume this was a joke. Javier looked seriously contemplative, but that guy had gotten really good at manipulating his own face. This was just another way to laugh at Lloyd, right??

“If I marry you, I’ll have the right to call the Count and Countess Father and Mother…”

Shit, no, that was something that Javier actually cared about!

“Really? That’s worth being stuck with me for the rest of your life?”

“I’m already stuck with you for the rest of my life,” Javier said.

“… I mean --”

“I said it before,” Javier said, folding a hand over his heart in a salute. “I’m a knight of the Frontera estate, and always will be. I’ll be by your side until the day I die. You already knew that.”

That was. True.

Lloyd did already know that. By nature of being a knight bound to protect his ward at any cost, Javier must go through every single day, prepared to die for Lloyd’s sake. Lloyd had cheerfully accounted for that in every single, ridiculously overreached thing he had ever done. ‘If I go, then so do you’.

Javier really wasn’t getting paid enough for this. There were better opportunities he could have taken, and he had turned them all down, for the sake of the Fronteras.

It was fun, saying something like, You’ll be trapped working for me forever. Who didn’t want an employee who would do anything for you, even if they looked at you like they wanted to kill you? Especially if they wanted to kill you! Wasn’t it nice, seeing a face that wanted to be anywhere but with you, but still diligently working anyway?

It was a little different, having Javier acknowledge it like this. Zero hint of unwillingness or discontent. A pure and serious desire to... be with him for the rest of his life.

“… Why does it have to be a marriage, though?”

“In any case, Master Lloyd--”

Javier smiled brilliantly. It was a smile worthy of launching a thousand ships. The beauty of his expression cast a halo about him, like his entire body was bathed in light. With this angelic appearance, he said:

“I’m the only one who can tolerate your face in the bedroom.”

Some late night CCCC thoughts before I go to bed bc Im still learning abt it but god do I have ideas now

Im wondering if Heart and Mind could be divided as emotion and logic but. In the sense of children?

Hear me out

Emotion is a child. It's irrational, it's heavy, its messy, it's difficult to contain and sometimes hard to figure out what it needs.

Logic is a child who grew up too fast. For one reason or another, it relies on facts and no emotion bc emotion didnt get it anywhere while facts did.

I wonder if Mind could be characterized like that, like a child who grew up too fast. Especially since it sees Heart as immature for his emotions.

Which isnt entirely inaccurate but like they're both sorta in the wrong (as much of a Heart lover as I am)

But like I think thatd be really interesting exploring those in fanfic or smth

Mind kinda learns to live with a bit of emotionality and not just logic bc they learn its ok to be emotional and have that. Like learning to heal an inner child.

While Heart learns to grow a bit and understand when logic and facts DO need to be applied to situations and how much.

So kinda more parallels

Idk I just really like the concept of Mind as a character being given some more traits reflective of a child forced to grow up too fast and that's partially why he's so critical of Heart for being immature

When he wasn't able to fully have that experience of emotions and processing them and instead shoved them aside and based himself entirely off of logic and facts

Idk I could go on and on abt this I think, like how Heart is like a manifestation of all the emotion Mind tried to hide away or something like that
