Struggles - Growing up
Day1 - Here we go. Never thought i would be online posting things about my daily struggles and a little reliefs. I just thought writing a blog would help me record my life and to share my honest life experiences in Bangalore,India.
Just like 95% of Graduates in India, i am also an Engineer by Profession and coming from a middle class household who have to compromise their dreams to meet the family’s budget / financial constraints. But just like a beetle nut, we are hard to crack and eventually get accustomed to the below average / mediocre life.
Chapter 1 : Growing up in Bangalore - Kiddos
Growing up, life was hungry and unsettling, however we were happy as a family. Our daily happiness included masala mango bites, cotton candies, weekly once pani puri, cold ice laden sugar cane juice or a rather rare taste of sweet when a certain uncle / aunty drops in to greet us.
I always had to learn to understand that a certain toy / 10 bucks chocolate was also a luxury, growing up with 2 siblings. Our only taste of these chocolates were when a certain well off friend would share with us during our school intervals.
Ah, those days. they are bitter sweet memories since the only solace we found were in our school, since those were the hours when I would be out of the struggles of my life, literally not having a care in the world enjoying with friends, chatting away about teachers.
But the sight of a friend’s new Pilot pen / Hero pen would come as a slap in the face which would bring us back to the reality that our life was still a struggle and far fetched from a life which our neighbours were living.
We lived in a quarters like Building which we call ‘vataara’ which had 5 Houses out of which 4 were 1Room,Hall,kitchen,washroom of around 15*25 dimensions.Only the landlady had a bigger house with 2RK dimensions.
Being a vegetarian my senses had to struggle and later adjust to the various masala non vegetarian items which all our neighbours cooked happily and ate. Literally ever saturday / sunday we would visit the nearest park / vegetables market to avoid this torture of seeing our neighbours gorge on meat.
