Jazz aesthetic

okay nvm these films are defo not all jazz related. IDK why but i associate the orange/teal colour palette with a jazz film. maybe it’s more 1920′s colour palette/ an unreal/fantastical colour clue.

...okay nvm apparently it’s an every movie thing. The grainy filter of jazziness is definitely not though so i’ve still got some credibility at least 😂😅

*edit* okay no further research - true that lots of films use the blue and orange colour grading but film people are smart - yes using presets for efficacy but also know the colours and associations. e.g red and green used for horror movie posters, blue orange for action, more purpley for space/sci-fi etc. not the film people’s fault that there aren’t that many colours to choose from

whiplash FINALLY ticked off! bout 5 years late! whoo

stand out - doesn’t force an opinion on you. very much a film for art and the colour grading makes it very clear that it’s linking into a jazz/artsy film. leaves it open for u to decide whether miles teller and J.K simmons are mad in a good dedicated admirable way or just mad in cray cray unhealthy ways.

ticked hunt for the wilderpeople off of the list on sat, real good one, whole fam liked it and got lots of laughs. Had the intention to watch more of taika waititi films and deco gonna keep that going. Really like/am interested in his and spike jonze's viewpoints on the world and seeing more of their films for this

GEOFFREY BARKAS

- filmmaker who made a huge set/fake army camp in Egyptian desert to trick the German soldiers (scout planes) into thinking the allies were going to attack from one direction when they were really moving troops to the opposite - worked!! (Reminds me a bit of PnPP 3D brief. also Richmond lad!!)

IAN FLEMMING

- author of James Bond. Pre writing them contributed to war by coming up with this plot to use the dead body of a homeless man as a fake officer carrying info about an attack from the allies into Greece - were really prepping to invade Sicily. Hitler fell for it and German troops were moved so allies could invade. Homeless man buried with inscription on grave with his alias name.
