BACKGROUND
A Theran native, Cethyn was born on a cold winter's night to a seemingly loving mother and a dismissive father according to her. It was considered a miracle that the infant survived the first freezing and biting night of his life. There wasn't anything particularly different about the boy that made him less susceptible to death, because as far as his mother could tell he is completely human. Except, there was something much more sinister at play but nobody would know. His mother would disappear from his father's life and would take him along to Byzantine where he would be raised by her all the while his father spent years looking for them thinking something had happened but to no avail. His mother never came clean as to why she'd done it, but when he found out at sixteen that he didn't leave, but rather she had stolen the chance of him having a father he would leave to Thera in search of him. When he finally finds him, he explains that his mother had took off with him and he never understood why but he introduced him to his younger sister and his new family after explaining that he'd wanted nothing more than to raise him. Eventually, he shows his father his new abilities and tells him he's a sorcerer, a magic wielder. He spends the rest of his time in Thera growing up alongside his little sister who eventually is drafted to work for the Theran king as their seer. He was never allowed to see her. He was never allowed to talk to her. It was as if his sister didn't exists. He grew bitter at the crown for taking her away. During that time, his father comes to the realization that his son is an Aasimar. His divinity becoming something his father recognized who ended up kneeling before him and thanking him for his grace, but Cethyn didn't understand what had made him so special aside from wanting to protect his younger sister. His father explains to him what it means, why people treat him differently and why he looked different. He was always looked at by women, followed by men, always beloved, but also haunted by terrible things and that he could not share what he was to others. Cethyn stood by waiting for his sister’s return until one day his father tells him that he must leave. He was frantic, he was told that if he didn’t, that the Theran king would come for him. His sister had been killed due to disobedience according to the king, but Cethyn knew he was crazy. He had heard about him drafting children, drafting all kinds of people to an army something he knew his own sister would never stand by. He knows that his sister's fate was sealed, because she was too good. He knew there was a reason behind her supposed betrayal. So he listens to his father and leaves, but with the anger, the rage, the hatred he felt towards the king led the Aasimar towards darkness.
His return to Byzantine is bitter, his mother's happiness to seeing him turned to horror when he had almost slain her for lying to him about the whereabouts of his father. Her crying meant nothing to him, he simply grabbed a few of his items and told his mother that she was dead to him before walking out of her home. He had turned fallen in that moment. Too much pent up anger and hate, he had been touched by something sinister and he didn't know it. All he knew is that other than resentment and hate, he felt nothing. Someone who once put his mother above all things, who once put his sister above his own mother and anything else had now turned into the very thing the Theran king was afraid of. While at a bar he over heard the name Vecna and what he brought to the world and instantly his attention had been peaked. He stood for knowledge and power and Cethyn wanted that. He spent years learning everything he could about the Book of Vile Darkness, about the Hand of Vecna and the Eye of Vecna. He'd traveled across Atropos trying to find information. He'd spent days in Icra'nine, and had even gone to the Zirazar Queen hoping to get some answers. The Queen agrees to help him by allowing him word with his seer so long as he worked for her. He made a bloodpact and promised her a favour at any point no matter when she called on him. When he meets his seer, Meesha, she explains that what he seeks is in Lachesis. She explains that it was not something he could do alone and that the only way to retrieve it was if he worked alongside others. He's never been a people person, even before he fell. Even before his wings started to rot. But now he had to use his wits and his charm to get people to help him kill the king of Thera by acquiring the items he needs to become more powerful.
