A blog for all my fun mad scientist plans and ideas. An overlapping of dark academia, plaguecore, cottagecore, with a twist of that good old fashioned mad scientist flair

honestly imagine being mary shelley. its the fucking early 1800s. we’re barely out of the era when people thought women reading novels would lead to like debauchery and premarital sex. the weather is just fucking bonkers in yonkers. everybodys clothes looked like they oughta weigh two hundred pounds. everyones goth but goth isnt a thing yet so they dont even know it. your kids are dying. your husbands dead. your friends are all probably doing coke. your doctor is also both doing and maybe prescribing coke. no electricity. people are out there just staring into the void and having clandestine affairs in graveyards or some shit just because theres nothing else to do. and whats that? youve just written frankenstein. girl what the fuck even–

You know those things that people install for their desktops where it will be like an anime character who walks around and will mess with whatever you have open and move your desktop icons etc, imagine going to online school and one of them closes your zoom call during class

So I’m fucking around on TikTok and come across the first few lines of an edgy sounding song right? I go “wow wtf is this it sounds pretty neat” and I google the lyrics and I find it’s called The Hearse Song.

Okay, let’s give the full song a listen

Did you hear the scientists have found a way to grow colored cotton? Thoughts?
It’s not a ‘scientists have found’ and much more ‘people have been already doing that for thousands of years and it’s just gaining more attention recently’

Coronavirus Plaguecore things:
- Reminding people of the downfalls of ignoring science and health protocols in history
- Reassuring people to be patient and trust those that have nothing good to gain from exposing themselves to those ill for the greater good
- Voicing your appreciation to your deliveryworkers and garbage disposers personally- ultimately, a tweet to a general audience does nothing to a worker’s morale. If not for these people, we would be living in our filth without the things that we need to get by.
- Listening to the advice of medical professionals, not politicians.
- Abiding by grocery store rules by only getting one unit of toilet paper, rubbing alcohol, hand soap and hand sanitizer per transaction and ONLY getting these things if you absolutely need to.
- Educating yourself on the expiration of various frozen foods and how to unthaw these foods safely
- Taking advantage of the internet to parse through important and useful information for food storage and efficient preparation.
- Using time off to clean, sanitize and organize your clutter you have been putting off forever
- Going on more walks and appreciating nature
- Doing whatever work you can to get by, and not shaming yourself or others for doing the same
- Checking in on your mentally ill and disabled loved ones often. A dose of human interaction and compassion does wonders for the soul and morale.
- Recognizing the importance of health and the people we love, and a how devastating plague can affect anyone.
- Recognizing death has no bias, but class has always historically had an effect on who is and isn’t in more danger.

Remember guys! You don’t need to have a “historically accurate” plague doctor outfit! We have made it into a huge branching concept, and you don’t owe accuracy to anyone! Wear what makes you happy! A biological bird-footed cryptid? Lovely! A swashbuckling seafaring pirate plague doctor? Fucking epic!

Hello doctors! Remember, if anyone tries to tell you that leeches aren’t good pets because “haha ew gross worm” you legally have the right to unbalance their humors on the spot!

A plague doctor in the modern day would legit be so fucking cool! Like imagine walking up to someone that smells like lavender and they are scribbling down notes for anatomy stuff in a old lookin notebook with coffee cup stains. If you went back to their house it seems organized at first, but the kitchen is full of plants, and their bedroom is full of huge blankets with scented candles everywhere!

I like these lights, I think I want to find a way to integrate their design with renewable energy. Possibly solar? I’m currently working on a floating glass orb filled with bioluminescent plankton known as dinoflagellates. The orb will be suspended by a magnet using the same technology used for maglev trains. I’m excited to see the results, I will begin prototyping in 1-3 months hopefully.
