Daily Fodd Fact #178: The reason why a lot of characters from the 1900s had collars or some other such attire that blocked the neck from the rest of the body was due to the fact that the character's body and head were drawn/painted onto different cells. This was so animators didn't have to draw multiple different frames for the body if only the head itself was moving as it'd take a lot of time (and money).
