First Impression of CFS IIUM (Petaling Jaya)
Hi peeps!
I am going to tell you guys about CFS today. My first impression towards CFS was it is a beautiful campus and the thing that I liked the most was the mosque. I first enrolled during the month of Ramadan. Can you imagine it having your orientation while fasting?! It was very tiring as we need to do a lot of activities as freshman. Luckily, they were all indoor activities such as ice breaking and various of briefings. The seniors treated and guided us well. It was too bad that we could not have a tour of CFS as our orientation was in the month of Ramadan. So, I decided to have a tour by myself. I went on a tour with my roommate. At first, we did not know where to go. Luckily, our senior provided us with a map of CFSIIUM. So, it became easier for us to go around CFS. We learnt that our classes would be in SMAWP which is quite far from our Mahallah (college) which is Mahallah Zainab Al-Jahsyi. Our Mahallah has its own nickname which is Jenab. On the tour, I also got to know about the cafes in CFS. Apparently students and lecturers prefer to go to Kemudi Cafe because it has a celestial choice of foods. During my orientation, everything was very fun and I hope that people reading this post will also feel the joy.

Quick Guide! : Tips to survive foundation life.
Hi and Assalamualaikum guys! We are students from CFSIIUM and we are going to share our experiences with you. Today, we are going to give you quick guides on how to survive foundation life. Basically, all students feel the same thing when studying in university. Ever feel stressed and wanting to quit? Why do we have to study? Why are there lots of assignments? Have you ever feel as if everything you are doing is wrong? Let me share with you some tips to survive foundation life.
1. Get to know your roommates. The first thing to do is to get to know your roommate who is the person you will spend most of your time with. You should also strengthen your relationship with your roommates. It would be an unpleasant stay if you are uncomfortable with your roommate. You should initiate conversation in order to know your roommate. Ask them casual questions such as ‘where are you from’? ‘what course are you taking’? ‘what is your hobby’? and etc. This would enable you and your roommates to establish a strong friendship.
2. Plan your schedule. As soon as you get your class schedule plan your daily schedule. Plan your schedule and separate the time for your classes, leisure and studies. It is important in order for you to be organized. Most of the students these days often forget to plan their schedule and in the end they become stressed. Therefore, start planning your schedule as soon as possible.
3. Blend in with your classmates. This is also an important thing to do because your classmates are the people that you are going to see everyday. Therefore, blending in with them would help you to be more comfortable in class. Your steps to get to know your classmates are the same as getting to know your roommates. Start from initiating a conversation with them. If you are an introverted person, this would help to improve your communication skills.
4. Take a tour of your campus. Do you want to be late for your class? Taking a tour of your campus is important as it is an unfamiliar place for you. You need to take a tour for you to know the venue of your classes and also where to go if you have any problems. Pick a day for you to take a tour of your campus during your orientation. This would certainly help you to know your campus.
5. Be prepared physically and mentally. There will be times when you feel that you want to give up attending university. There will be ups and downs during your years in the university. Therefore, before enrolling you should seek advice from your older brother or sister so that you will be prepared mentally and physically. Do not think that university is the same as secondary school. It is clearly two different institutions. You should also think that there are also other people who are working equally as hard as you are.
6. Keep track of your money. Create your financial plan so that you can keep track of your money. These days, youth likes to waste their money on unnecessary stuffs. You should plan your spending daily for you to avoid wasting money. You should keep a financial notebook. In the notebook, you need to count your budget and your spending so that you keep track of your money. You will regret it later on if you don’t do this. You should also start saving money for your future plans.
7. Prioritize your life. During your secondary school years, it may have been easy for you to do your work last minute. However, do not repeat this kind of behavior in the university as university is a completely different institution and it has different system. Therefore, you should prioritize your assignment in order to survive your foundation life. Do you want to be scolded by your lecturer? Or even get cut of marks? So, make your choice wisely.
8. Fulfill your religious needs. As a Muslim, we are obliged to perform our Fard prayers. In the midst of studying, the blessing from Allah SWT is also important. Therefore, you should fulfill your religious needs. Not just performing the compulsory acts, you should also be kind towards other people and take care of your relationship between male and female. Especially the sisters, you are obliged to take care of your aurah as it is your dignity.
9. Make time for yourself. There will be times when you are stressed out with your life. Therefore, you should make time for you to entertain yourself such as hanging out with friends, watching movies or doing sports. Set aside time for you to do leisure activities. This would relax and heal your mind from all the studies and assignments. Pick a day in the weekend for just yourself.
10. Cope with your homesickness. It is important for you to learn to cope with your homesickness. One of the methods is to call home daily or texting with your family. This would relieve your longing for your family. There is also another method which is to stay in campus as frequent as possible. Avoid going home frequently and stay in campus so that you can feel at home at your campus.
In a nutshell, there are many ways for you to survive foundation life. Your foundation life will be part of your memories later. So, try to make the most of your life while studying. As a student, we should all fulfill our responsibilities and strive for our success.
THANK YOU FOR READING AND WE HOPE THOSE TIPS ABOVE WILL HELP YOU GUYS IN SOME WAYS!
