I had to fix this, posts like that bother me. Like this is an issue with language. No one is erasing your sex. You’re either male or female at birth just like any other species. Penis or vagina. But when you’re walking down the street and see someone who you presume is to be a woman, is it not based off of the way they decided to present themselves to the people around them? it’s the gender binary used in a great portion of the human species that designated if you’re born with a vagina you perform the usual socially acknowledged acts of a “woman”. You’ll want to play with dolls, love to do make up, want to raise a family. If you have a penis you’ll want to do the male equivalent and want to do “man” things like play with trucks, video games, want to be an engineer. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to do those things. But not all cis women can/do have cycles, give birth, breastfeed for numerous reasons. A lot of cis woman can’t perform the tasks expected of them. So why is it such a big issue when neither can someone who is trans? Like you look at the world, knowing it’s full of like what 8 billion people in the world, all intermingling, growing, learning, loving, expanding mentally, physically and spiritually, that there are can ONLY be 2 ways for a person to identify? gtfo the gender binary is whack

The Tennessee Supreme Court ruled former sex slave Cyntoia Brown MUST serve 51 years in prison before she is eligible for parole.

According to them:

“In today’s unanimous decision, the Tennessee Supreme Court explained that, under state law, a life sentence is a determinate sentence of 60 years,” the court wrote. “However, the sixty-year sentence can be reduced by up to 15 percent, or 9 years, by earning various sentence credits (good behavior. & getting involved in prison based education programs while incarcerated) Therefore, the Supreme Court concluded that a defendant serving a life sentence for a first-degree murder committed on or after July 1, 1995, may be eligible for release after serving at least 51 years of the sentence.“

For those of you who haven’t yet caught up to this story:

Cyntoia Brown was a 16 yr old girl, who at the time of the incident was living in a room at a Nashville InTown Suites with Allen (the man who propositioned her for sex) because her pimp and boyfriend Garion McGlothen, nick-named “Kut Throat,” insisted that she needed to earn money.

Kut Throat abused her physically and sexually throughout the approximately three week period in which she lived with him.

After Allen took her to his house, he showed Cyntoia multiple guns, including shotguns and rifles. Later in bed, as she described in court, he grabbed her violently by the genitals, his demeanor became threatening and, fearing for her life, she took a gun out of her purse and shot him.

A Walk Through Art History

I designed these shoes with a unique goal in mind: to create a shoe as a summation of an entire culture’s art. Each shoe possesses design qualities, color palettes, and designs only found in the respective culture. This project allowed me to investigate art historical cultures in a special way by challenging myself to translate an entire style (or series of styles) onto a single object.

Conveniently, I was able to use these designs as the concentration section of my AP Studio Art portfolio and received a score of a 5!
