Wahh lost track of time 🐶 whatever… I wanted to revisit this idea for Starscream, just cuz yknow. It makes sense to me, why Starscream if no Star or Scream 🤨 past the yellin he does always… still trying to figure out Satellite Soundwave’s helm btw, wasn’t itching the right way so back to the woodworks he goes 😌 but I did accumulate some lore about him finally

yahh. Like my new design for Soundwave I have made one for Thundercracker (perhaps for my own fan continuity)! I wanted to give him some cowboy things simply cuz he had a southern accent in I think the Unicron Triology, so boots- yes the spurs are lightning bolts— and sort of a vest (the white parts are supposed to be like tassels) cuz seekers when I look at them I see vests kinda… and I mostly chose One and IDW for most things else cuz it’s the easiest for me 😌 I DO have a lot of seeker culture world building in my continuity, but that’s for another time (maybe when I get the trine done). Long story short the three of them come from different seeker tribes(?), Thunders, Royals, and uh. Goths?

TC is great in most temperatures! Generates plenty of heat from all the lightning he absorbs and also therefore is quite resistant towards heat; but Soundwave being a bat… not the greatest in the cold sometimes, this is why he’s always has Ravage and Laserbeak with him, huddling up like how irl bats do!

Also a buncha Soundwave dancing, cuz his wings reminded me of Jarabe Tapatío— and they make great references for him to dance!

Beholding wife… this is what life was made for… okay so maybe just MAYBE I fell victim to Read A Fic Or Two Disease (tho the piece is kinda unrelated to the fics) and yearned terribly for more Thundersound Soundcracker BoomMic content because of them… please I need more please…. So I came to the conclusion that I can simply make my own content of them as the genius that I am 💡 my blue ladies please come home…

Two chill and noisy boyfriends find an overworked and stressed stray boyfriend (that they’ve brawled with not uncommonly), that’s basically Jazterwave really 😌 this was just supposed to be a doodle for the thing but I. Got lost in the sauce. But it’s okay cuz it’s three beautiful women. I’ve read a few fics where Soundwave doesn’t know what to do with himself or who he is without war and it’s like. Thats kinda peak writing. So useful as an asset for battle yet outside of that he’s lost and needs two fellas to help him out ohhh my shayla

Lost track of time while drawing so I didn’t notice I went way past my schedule but whatever 💋 One Starwavewave is just where Soundwave has two mechs that complain to him always that he’s doing his job wrong after they told him themselves to do it 😒 the correct course of action is to dent their heads in with the equivalent amount of force of the pain of the migraines that they give him.. How To Soundwave: 101 (truthfully, this must be why he just watches and let them get beat up all the time)

A buncha catwaves!! I didn’t have the time to get to Bayverse or One or Cybertron SDW unfortunately, maybe I’ll do them tomorrow if I got the time 🤔 but I just kinda was in the mood to draw some cats and I picked out some roughly related breeds to each Soundwave and their personalities or looks 🤔 yes Cyberverse is on that catnip btw, he just seemed like the type 🙄 as for the fur patterns I wasn’t sure how to go about them so I just splatted on some related colors and where they were… go my soundlings 🐈‍⬛ 🐈🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛

(Trying to be) Unbothered, flourished, focused, in his own lane; Blaster couldn’t possibly comprehend 🙄 he thought Soundwave was just throwing mean looks at him this whole time while Soundwave was just trying to not let his processor blow up. Bet Jazz could tell his vibes were okay tho, despite the stiff stances, cuz he’s just chill like that (that is, until SDW’s processor DOES implode one day and suddenly he is bothered, not flourishing, and unfocused. Terrible day for him.)

i frequently wonder about how human culture would change after aliens/magic revealed scenarios but probably the most inane yet pressing question on my mind for the last several weeks would be how public knowledge of Cybertronian arrival on Earth would affect the discography of “Weird” Al Yankovic

SG high command makes me think of birds 🙂‍↕️ they’re like beautiful doves. Except Soundwave can’t really fly but still . He makes me think of swans cuz they carry their young! And they’re very protective n loving… also, out of all the Soundwaves, SG particularly makes me think of him to sometimes have an emotive visor, for no reason in mind but also I suppose cuz he’s more expressive and empathetic than the average Soundwave 🤔 whatever, I guess I just really like to draw Soundwaves with animals 😛 but then again Sg Soundwave canonically really loves Earth creatures, both human and animal

the desire to assign various transformers characters birds i like is constant and powerful, and only tempered by (1) many of them contain multitudes and it makes it difficult to narrow them down (2) i may know birds but i have not watched or read enough of the shows & comics & books yet to make a definitive argument

alright, so this is based almost entirely off of initial vibes of some shows and what i've seen in fic (haven't been able to read idw or skybound yet).

there are two primary bird vibes for starscream to me.

the first of these is Rat Bastard Gull Energy, which is best exemplified by Swallow-Tailed Gulls, because look at them. Gulls in general have great maneuverability and are, of course, Rat Bastards. This is the objectively funnier bird if someone were to hit Starscream with a Boom, Become Bird beam in a g1 episode.

vibe #2 is based off of what I've heard from falconry folks over the years (namely that Astur goshawks are absolute nightmares to keep for personality reasons, but worth it because their prey drive is top tier and because they're probably the most versatile hunting hawk.) American Goshawks have this really neat chainmail pattern to go along with their red eyes. They're powerful animals given their size, and like any good dense forest raptor are incredibly talented when it comes to maneuvering.

now on to megatron! he gives me very strong eagle vibes. i'm sure y'all are probably familiar with harpy eagles and their grizzly bear claw sized talons by this point, so i'm going to discuss some other big eagles instead.

strongest megatron vibe to me is probably African Crowned Eagle. look at these guys. that's a brick of a bird (affectionate). The really neat thing about crowneds is that they almost definitely preyed upon our ancestors and their relatives. there's evidence of australopithecus individuals who got eaten by these guys. that's neat as fuck.

other stupid big eagle that i feel the need to add to the pile for megatron is the Wedge-Tailed Eagle. these guys are in Aquila, which honestly should make them seeker candidates because most Aquila eagles look like someone hit paste way more times than they intended (not as bad as some parts of Falco and pre-split Accipiter tho), but wedgies get a pass by virtue of being Huge and eating kangaroos

anyways, onto soundwave bc i should probably finish up the decepticon command trio

@dailymothanon is absolutely 100% correct about soundwave being a Great Horned Owl, i would not have any notes except i remembered that the rest of the Bubo genus existed

and yk what i could see Cape Eagle-Owl too honestly

(i could also probably make an argument about Eastern Screech-Owl & their occasional mutualism w/ blindsnakes, but EASO don't strike me as very soundwavey tbh, all Megascops owls are tinyyyyyyy)

lastly, and i will defend this choice with my life:

Optimus Prime is a Common Ostrich.

'Girl, what the hell' you might say, except I have already pulled up the stats, hear me out:

I know the internet's favorite ratite to stare at in horrified awe and terror is the cassowary, and ostriches don't tend to strike fear in the hearts of most people, but that is:

A seven foot tall bird

That can run up to 60mph in short bursts (nearly 100kph!)

Fully capable of killing people and semi-regularly does so

Manages to survive and thrive as a giant flightless bird in an environment that has lions, leopards, cheetahs, painted dogs, hyenas, and humans

They're also very dedicated parents, which feels very OP to me.

Since your Falconer Soundwave sees his co workers as animals, wouldn’t it be funny if Ravage is actually also a regular person but he views her as a cat like everyone else? Lol just a silly thought 💗

I thought this was pretty cute so I whipped up a quick human Ravage design just for this 😌 is it canon to the Falconer Soundwave au? Ehhhh, I mean probably not? Idk yet. Or maybe it’s that Soundwave sees Ravage as a person though she’s really a cat, and then other people as animals 🙄 this boy is weird as always… also I wasn’t gonna draw all the spots on panther Ravage ain’t no way. I’d say Soundwave is like the snow leopard to Ravage’s panther leopard 🐆 (or ravage’s jaguar, I haven’t decided between the two yet)

i'm losing my mind moth this is so cute 😭 soundwave rummaging around in his tapedeck for a cassette to reciprocally show her a baby is so funny but is also giving me Extreme cute aggression

@chaetocercus has been enlightened me about marsupials and Soundwave w/ his little family and I can’t help but love it a lot 🦘 it’s very cute but also very cool considering how funky marsupials are! Also consider exhibit A: red kangaroo does (females) are also called blue-flyers because of their coloring! Blue mamas that are very jacked 😌 it’s only the best for them (also, apparently drawing kangaroos is fun, they have a fun shape to them)

Sunstorm: Accidentally doing the 'how to start a fight in therapy' speech. Can't imagine Starscream wants to be forgiven for hating his clone, can't imagine him taking that well at all. Nothing more obnoxious than hearing some religious nut preach while you're trying to do real venting.

The family 🤧 every time I think about all of the collectively they just make me think of matryoshka dolls 🪆! I thought it was very cute, imagining opening a Soundwave to a small Ravage to a smaller Rumble/Frenzy to a smaller Laserbeak/Buzzsaw to a smallest Ratbat… they are very precious to me…
