When she rose above the waves, lingering beneath the warped boards of the dock, Rika could close her eyes and imagine herself among them. While her brethren in the deep sea scrapped over food and territorial disputes, the fleeting lives of humans seemed to be filled with so much more. Love and hate, fear and hope, anger and sadness and joy… They laughed, and cried, and fought, and sang, and Rika wanted nothing more than to understand them, to experience the highs and lows of their mortal lives.

As quiet and serene the ancient walls of the cathedral were, it was rare to find a moment of peace.

Perhaps “peace” is a loose term. Peace can be defined in countless ways, flexible from person to person. One thing is universal – everyone gets peace of mind from security, from support, from compassion. Peace of mind is one thing, but surviving is entirely different. Too much security is dangerous.

introductory post 🧡

hello mystic messenger fans! i’m chai, and i got super into mysme about a year ago! i’m a huge sucker for female antagonists who show no remorse for their actions and so i was immediately charmed by rika

just to be clear, this isn’t a rika defence blog in any way—i think she was an incredibly manipulative, toxic, and sometimes even outright dangerous person. however, i also think that all of these qualities combined with the fact that she originally set out to do good, is what makes her so compelling to me. i’m not a huge fan of cheritz’s handling of her character though, and agree with the opinion that in an ideal ending, she would face legal consequences for her actions in-game

that being said, i fully believe that a character does not have to be morally good in order to be appreciated. it is fiction after all, and we are all allowed to enjoy villains, either because of, or in spite of their actions. to me personally, rika’s flaws are what make her a well-rounded character, and i hope that everyone who visits this blog keeps that in mind!

i also enjoy poking fun at all of the mysme characters, so please don’t take anything on this blog too seriously! feel free to ask me anything even if it’s not related to rika, or send a message if you’d just like to chat—everyone is welcome here :D
