Hello, I’m back from the void. Yesterday I started watching 炎炎ノ消防隊 (Fire Force) and what i’ve seen so far (the first three episodes) I’m not impressed. The setting is cool. The idea of a world with an unknown phenomenon that causes the death of thousands of people by burning them alive and making them fire demons... pretty cool if you ask me. But I really don’t like the way the story and the characters where introduced. I feel like it breaks the most important tacit rule of storytelling which is “Show, don’t tell”. The first episodes are a lore dump on the main character, the organizations, the world and the overall plot. Also the pacing feels a bit weird. We are shown a protagonist who wants to become a hero (Very reminescent of BNHA), he is starting to work in the organization that will help him achieve his dream and in the 3rd episode we already know that the organization in kinda corrupt and not what everyone thinks it is. Like... dude I haven’t even meet the whole fire force and I already know there are some brigades that are shady? It just feels rushed. Another Issue I found is the blatant ecchi. The first two episodes had some mild moments with the MC staring at a coworkers boobs that I don’t like but can tolerate, but the third chap was just too much. We get introduced this new girl and in this episode she already has 3 ecchi moments? and that is kind of her main personality trait, she is an unlucky girl that “runs” into perverts? Not my cup of tea and from what I’ve heard online it only get worst. Other underwhelming aspect was the fight scenes. Gotta say the animation is not bad but again, the pacing of them was really weird (Specially the one in episode three with The Joker). It was really anticlimatic. I really hope this gets better at some point because what is a battle shonen with all these issues if not even it’s fight scenes are good? A dead battle shonen that is what it is. I know i’m kinda shitting on it just having watched 3 episodes but I have a pretty high standard when it comes to battle shonen. I hope it can surprise me and make me eat my words.

He was speechless and Luffy laughed upon seeing him shocked. How could it not be? It was a hat almost identical to the one he wore in his childhood photos; the one that Corazón had given him.

Months ago he told Luffy about it in one of his first early morning text conversations. Luffy had said they had to get him a new one, but Law thought it impossible.

"I bought the fabric, Sabo helped me choose it," Luffy mentioned with a smile. “And I hired the best craftswoman and the best weaver to do it.”

Law closed his eyes with a smile and bitten lips. His mind was filled with images of Leo and Tama holding their wares at Shirohige’s fair. There were no doubts.

"Working together they are faster than anyone," the boy added

“Cute!” Nami hugged her girlfriend by the shoulders and smiled. “And speaking of cute, congratulations, Law!”

He raised an eyebrow without understanding and Luffy began to laugh softly. 

“Why?” He asked, surprised. They all smiled knowingly, as if they knew something he didn't.

"Because you are dating Luffy!" The redhead retorted with a mocking smile.

Law felt his blood run cold and looked at the boy questioningly. Luffy shrugged his shoulders and concentrated on continuing to eat Usopp's dangos without him noticing.

"Yeah, it's super adorable!" Vivi commented with a charming smile.

"About time," Zoro said.

"I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier…" 

He looked at Sanji without understanding why he said that. Earlier? Did they think about them earlier?

"Actually they all mean we're happy for you," Usopp tried with an apologetic smile.

Law looked at the boy and tugged on his hoodie like he was a puppy.

"I'm borrowing Luffy-ya for a second," he snapped, dragging him toward an empty spot in the garden.

"A little," Law said, pulling away, "but it's okay... uh... what's his name?"

"Alien Thing, that's its full name," he said as a joke and at the same time quite seriously.

"Stop calling them that, Ace," Rosinante complained.

"And what do you want me to call it?" He sighed, rolling his eyes.

"I don't know... Baby or make up another name," Rosi thought until he had an idea. "How about you say bean? I've heard people call them that."

"More than bean I'd say it's a pig now." Ace touched his belly and covered it with his clothes because he was starting to feel cold. "Plus it doesn't sound fun."

"I like Batman," Little Law suggested.

"That one is better."

He saw him lift his face and rest his chin on Law's chest, looking at him with red cheeks from laughing so much and a smile of happiness on his face. Maybe he looked like that too. He never thought it could feel so good to laugh until his stomach ached and he couldn't breathe. Luffy seemed to know the healing powers of laughter better because he was looking at him as if seeking to tempt him again.

"You're a one way road," Law murmured, shaking his head. "And I've already traveled too far to go back."

He remembered that day when he went looking for him and Ace clung to him heartbroken. He thought about that moment and didn't hesitate to squeeze him again to show him, as best he could, that he was with him and would support him in whatever was necessary. He felt Ace's taut body as he circled him, but he instantly trembled and let himself be hugged like that time outside of Dadan's house.

"Don't be silly," Garp retorted, his voice deep and a confident smile. "You are not a problem, we are for you and... we will see what to do."

For the last 3 or so weeks I've been reading and watching Mo Dao Zu Shi (The novel, the donghua and the drama) and let me tell you it's real good shit.

The novel has all the elements that I love. Fantasy, politics, complex characters, Asian culture, cute boys in love, slow burn, cute fluffy moments, lots of action. It has it all. I'm almost done with the novel and I'm already missing it.

The animation is just superb. Really high production value, really cool fight scenes and the pacing is well done. Really hyped for the new season.

The drama is cool, the acting is really good I enjoy it a lot and I'm not mad at the changes they made to the original story (except the whole gay erasure thingy but censorship what can you do about it?) Sometimes the special effects can be kinda lacking but it still has charm. I'm halfway through though I still have a lot to watch.

Overall amazing story no matter the media, really really cool. 10/10 definitely will obsess over it 🔥🔥

The angst in this chapter just fills my wretched little heart. Have I said that Cora-san is the best? If I already said it I’ll say it again. Cora-san be my dad!

He read information for a while that reminded him of everything Dr. Otohime had said to him in her office and went down to a section that said 'Questions to think of if you're considering an abortion.'
