Differences
Do you remember the song Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen? It's interesting that the lead singer, Freddie Mercury, was part of the Parsi minority of India, descended from Persian elites who fled their home country after the Muslim conquest.
It's funny how elite status can persist across generations. For example one of the wealthiest groups in the US today are Egyptian Christians, descendants of those who could afford to pay the infidel tax after the Muslim conquest of Egypt. Similarly, centuries of Jewish history show how a small, persecuted group of people found success wherever they went, inspiring both admiration and envy.
Now let's consider current ideas about inequality and look at contemporary Progressivism through three lenses.
The first theory suggests it arose from a long-term effort by activists to reform cultural institutions.
The second theory says it owes a lot to the reinterpretation of Civil Rights laws. Originally intended to protect everyone from discrimination, these laws were repurposed to allow discrimination in the name of achieving equal outcomes or representation for different groups.
The third theory, supported by much evidence and by intellectuals like Steve Sailer and Nathan Cofnas, say that IQ is hereditary and unevenly distributed among different groups. Mainstream society does not acknowledge this and that creates tension as people seek somebody or some system to blame when the real cause is genes.
If you want your children to have curly hair, you would marry someone with curly hair. If you want them to be tall, you marry someone tall. If you want them to have high cognitive ability, which is accurately measured by IQ and closely tracks almost all desirable life outcomes, that trait is also genetic.
It is important to care for marginalized individuals in society while avoiding persecuting those who are not. Looking back at history, Communist regimes and antisemitic pogroms blamed successful groups for their achievements, accusing them of foul play when, in reality, their success was due to an inherited trait, IQ. Envy, blame, and resentment help no one in the end.
Facing hard truths can lead us to more effective solutions, rather than continuing to invest in failed efforts like we've been doing for decades through programs like No Child Left Behind. Acknowledging the heritability of IQ can also create empathy for those born with lower cognitive ability through no fault of their own and can guide us towards creating better ways to uplift them. And we must face reality as it really is rather than what we wish it to be.
