Shindo-fuji: The Very Philosophy of Macrobiotics
All you need to understand is just one basic concept, “Shindo-fuji”. If you only follow this, you won’t get sick and it is the easiest way to connect with mother earth.
Hello, I'm Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.

To connect with the energy of the land.
To connect with the earth.
Sure, there are other ways to thank and love the Earth.
There are various views of macrobiotics such as yin and yang, or having a brown rice vegetarian diet.
“It doesn't matter!” “It's too complicated!”
I'm sure there are many people who think like that.
Yes, it doesn’t matter.
But you should understand just one basic concept, “Shindo-fuji”.
If you only follow this, you won’t get sick and it is the easiest way to connect with the earth.
The word Shindo-fuji, which has been handed down since ancient times, means that the human body, mind, the magnetic field of the land, and the earth's energy are one.

What is food anyway?
It's not just that it’s essential to our lives.
Vegetables and fruits are often called "gifts of the earth".
They are also called “the bounty of the land” or “the grace of the earth”.
In other words, food is the life that was originally raised in the land, and those living in the land are living on the food.
For example, the grass is grown on the land.
Cows eat the grass growing on the land.

The grass that grows there is eaten by the cows that live there, the cows that grow there are eaten by the people that live there, the cows and people that live there poop, bacteria and single-celled organisms grow, insects grow, the land becomes fertile, the soil grows, and the grass grows again on the land.
Life cycles through the food chain like this forever.
The land, the grass, the cows, and the human beings are penetrating the magnetic field lines of the land.
Not only the grass but all plants, insects, fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals are all-penetrating.
And the air and water are also penetrating.

We call ourselves Japanese.
At the same time, we say Japanese rice, Japanese vegetable, Japanese water, Japanese cows, Japanese birds, Japanese frogs, and Japanese bugs.
We coexist with the Japanese island while eating each other.
If you bring the Japanese pumpkin seed to Africa or the United States and sow them there, they won’t grow.
Even if they grow up, they are so small or their taste differs completely.
Pumpkin seeds may be so angry if we bring and try to grow them in other countries for our egos.

They may say;
Don’t bring me to other countries!
I was born in Hokkaido, Japan!
I want to grow up in Hokkaido!
I want to bloom, mate with other pumpkins and make new seeds there.
When I am to be eaten, I hope to be eaten by people living in Japan who have the magnetic field of the Japanese islands and become their poop to return to Japanese soil!

If you pursue a path of cooking, you can't help but see the world that way.
For example, suppose you serve the God Toyo’uke-no-Omikami, the lower shrine of Ise Grand Shrine, and become a cook.
And every day you cook a meal for Goddess Amaterasu-Omikami, who is enshrined in the inner shrine of Ise Grand Shrine.
At Ise Grand Shrine, lighters are not used to make offerings for gods.
You don’t even use matches.
Of course, as for rice, Isehikari variety rice grown in Shinsenden (the paddy field especially to grow offering-rice for the god) in Ise is cooked with Kamado, a traditional rice cooking oven.

Fire is made traditionally, by putting a wooden stick on a wooden board, turning the stick, and rubbing it.
The water is, of course, from the Isuzu River.
The salt is also from Ise Bay.
Kelp and Wakame seaweeds are from also Ise Bay.
All other marine products, vegetables, and shiitake mushrooms are from Ise.
Abalone, dried squid, and sea bream are also from the bay.
Sake is also made from the water and the rice of Ise.
In other words, the gods of Ise live in the Ise Grand Shrine, drink water and sake of Ise, and eat rice and delicious foods gathered from the mountain and bay of Ise.
I don't think it's for God's health.
I think the meaning is to connect the earth, gods, and humans all together.
Gods, creatures, humans, and the earth are sharing the same magnetic field.

This is totally different from bringing intellectual and social meaning such as for the sake of the environment or local production for local consumption.
In Japan, there is a traditional village life called Satoyama life, a life in a countryside forest, and most cases, it was completed in Shindo-fuji.
But the sugar, coke, chocolate, and wheat flour from abroad changed the life of Satoyama completely.
Feeds for livestock such as wheat, soybean, and corn are mostly imported from overseas and are already genetically modified crops.
The staple food, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seafood, meat, and dairy products for Japanese people are the same.

I’m not talking about increasing the food self-sufficiency rate.
I'm not talking about humans getting sick, ecosystems going crazy, or the environment becoming more and more polluted.
I'm talking about the Earth's magnetic field essentially going crazy.
This leads to human mental instability, a decline in physical strength, a decline in immunity, and an epidemic.
Even after I talk about this, people are already crazy, so no one will listen to it and will only pursue economic supremacy.
You don't have to stick to organic or chemical-free products at all, but I would like you to stick to the keyword, Shindo-fuji.
But in our current society, if you stick to it, it may make your life difficult, so it’s OK only if you have a choice, just pick up something close to you as possible.
I've written about these so far, but while I have a Japanese spirit, I smoke an organic cigarette called American spirit from the States.
Please forgive me.

The Importance of How to Cook: It Changes the Yin and Yang of Food
Not only foods but cooking methods can be divided into yin and yang. How to cook decides the last yin-yang state of dishes.

Hello, I'm Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
So far, I have explained food in terms of yin and yang. Let's also divide cooking methods into yin and yang this time.
Everything in this world is created by yin and yang, so you can divide everything into yin or yang.
Even if you look at the yin and yang of food and the yin and yang of the cooking method separately, you won’t get the energy state of the final dish clearly. It's only when you actually combine the yin and yang of food and cooking methods that you really know what the energy state of the dish is.
Among yin cooking methods, the most yin method is eating raw.
If it's vegetables, it's a salad. If it's seafood, it's sashimi. Japanese people often eat sashimi, which is a reasonable way to eat yang seafood.

They often eat grilled fish, too. This uses a cooking method of "grilling" for yang fish, so the fish gets more yang energy.

If you grill fish with salt, it becomes so yang. If it is dried fish, then it becomes an extremely yang dish.
Then, to balance the extreme yang, extreme yin such as alcohol will be necessary to balance.

If you look at dishes this way, you can look back at how many extreme yin and yang foods you’ve taken up to now.
Whether it’s stiff shoulders, headaches, repeated constipation and diarrhea, stubbornness, or increased forgetfulness, realize that your daily problems are caused by an unbalanced diet that ignores the yin and yang of foods and cooking methods.
A cooking method using a larger amount of water is yin and a smaller amount of water is yang.
A cooking method using shorter-time heating is yin and longer-time heating is yang.
But these are only guidelines. There are many more factors involved. In terms of cooking.
Yin Cooking Methods
For yin cooking methods with short time heating are, for example, steaming, stir-frying over high heat, boiling, and simmering lightly.
The standard heating time is within 10 minutes.

Yang Cooking Methods
On the other hand, the longer the heating time, the more yang the cooking method becomes.
Yang cooking methods are baking in the oven, slowly stir-frying over low heat, stewing, simmering, stir-frying then boiling in liquid sauce, and using a pressure cooker.

Season & Timing
You’ll find that you want to use one of the yin cooking methods in the morning, noon, spring, or summer, and you’ll want to use one of the yang cooking methods at night, autumn, and winter.
Do you want to eat stew and oven-baked gratin in the summer? If you imagine that, it should be clear.
If you put something on the fire for a very long time, it will burn and become charcoal. Charcoal = carbon is extremely yang.
It’s often said that you’ll get cancer if you eat burnt food. It can be explained extremely yang charcoal energy makes a mass of the tumor.

In addition to this, various factors generate yin and yang energies.
All of you should learn everything about how to balance yin and yang more. Because you cannot speak of health or freedom without knowing it.
This deep cosmic truth was hidden in the food you casually thought was tasty in daily life.
The yin-yang balance hidden in your foods shapes your future body, mind, and even your life.
I hope you will have a wonderful life of your own, knowing everything about yin and yang, keeping a balance, and being more energetic and full of fun.

Moderate Yin and Yang Food That Will Keep You Fit And Healthy
If you balance your diet with moderate-energy foods, you can easily keep your body and mind healthy. Avoid extreme yin and yang foods and have these moderate foods.

Hello, I'm Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
Last time I listed some foods with extreme yin and yang qualities that are difficult to balance. Here are some moderate-energy foods to balance your diet to achieve health and freedom.
These moderate energy foods are relatively easy to balance and can be divided into moderate yin and moderate yang.
If you’re sick, suffering from a cold, or the COVID-19 that’s currently sweeping the world, and you’re feeling physically drained, you should choose what to eat from these moderate yin foods or moderate yang foods I'm going to show you.
Let’s begin with grains.
Moderate yin grains are sprouted brown rice, green rice, oatmeal, sorghum, couscous, job’s tears, pressed barley, whole barley, whole wheat flour, whole wheat udon noodle, whole wheat somen noodle, corn, and polenta.

Moderate yang grains include brown rice, red rice, black rice, whole buckwheat, barnyard millet, foxtail millet, common millet, quinoa, amaranthus, glutenous brown rice, whole wheat pasta, 100% buckwheat noodle, and whole wheat natural yeast bread.

Next, vegetables.
Moderate yin vegetables are leaf vegetables such as Japanese mustard spinach, edible chrysanthemum, pak choi, Chinese cabbage, tah tsai, okahijiki (Salsola komarovii), Mitsuba (Japanese parsley), Daikon leaf, radish, wasabi leaf, turnip leaf, Seri (Japanese parsley), watercress, Mizuna greens, mustard leaf, and rape leaf.
White leek, parsley, celery, broccoli, and cucumber.
Snap peas, green peas, green beans. Sprouts such as bean sprouts, radish sprouts, and alfalfa sprouts. Lettuce.

Edible wild plants come out in spring such as Fuki-noto (Japanese butterbur), and bamboo shoots.

Mushrooms such as dried shiitake mushroom, fresh shiitake mushroom, shimeji mushroom, maitake mushroom, enoki mushroom, matsutake mushroom, nameko mushroom, and mushroom.

Taro, konnyaku, horse radish, and ginger.
Seeds and nuts such as almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, walnut, and ginkgo nut are moderate yin.

Moderate yang vegetables are root vegetables such as burdock, lotus root, carrot, daikon radish, dried strips of daikon radish, Japanese yam, and turnip. Round vegetables such as cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, pumpkin, and onion.

Chestnut, sesame seed, pumpkin seed, and Yoshino kudzu are moderate yang.
Moderate yin beans are soybean, natto, tempeh, tofu, pinto bean, fava bean, chickpea, kidney bean, mung bean, edamame (young soybean), and soybean product such as fried tofu, soy milk, and okara (soy pulp).

Moderate yang beans are lentil, azuki, black soybean, and Koya-tofu (freeze-dried tofu).

Moderate yin seaweeds are nori, aonori, mozuku, agar, wakame, mekabu, and mehibi.

Moderate yang seaweeds are hijiki, arame, and kelp.

Next, fruit.
Moderate yin fruits are tangerine, orange, lemon, peach, Japanese pear, pear, melon, watermelon, grape, and persimmon.
Moderate yang fruits are apple, berries such as strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, cranberry, and blackberry, and dried fruit such as raisin and cherry.

As for seasonings, white miso, vinegar, barley miso, rape seed oil, olive oil, and corn oil are moderate yin.

Natural sea salt, blended miso, rice miso, soybean miso, soy sauce, plum vinegar, and sesame oil are moderate yang.

Moderate yin condiments good to eat brown rice with are perilla condiment, wakame condiment, and aonori condiment.
Gomashio (salt with sesame) and tekka miso are moderate yang.
Among pickles, Bettara-zuke, Nara-zuke, Nozawana-zuke, Asa-zuke, sweet ginger pickles, and German salt pickled cabbage Sauerkraut are relatively yin.
Takuan, Nuka-zuke (typical Japanese pickles made of fermented rice bran), Furu-zuke, and Umeboshi (pickled salty plum) are yang.
Among sweeteners, brown rice amazake, beet sugar, maple syrup, and apple juice are yin, and rice malt syrup is yang. Raisins are used as sweetener occasionally which is yang.
As for tea, Mugi-cha (roasted barley tea) drunk often in the summertime in Japan, green tea and herbal tea are yin.

Hoji-cha, San-nen-bancha, Kuki-cha (green tea mainly uses stems instead of leaves), roasted grain beverage are yang, and dandelion coffee (roasted dandelion root) is very yang.

And animal-derived foods of moderate energy compared to the extreme yang animal-derived foods I mentioned former are white-fleshed fish such as sea bass, flatfish, flounder, sillago, sea bream, cod, and tilefish, and river fish such as carp, crucian carp, sweetfish, trout, and rockfish, and shellfish such as Japanese clam, oyster, abalone, and turban shell.

Those foods of moderate energy are relatively easy to balance, but if you continue to eat the same food as it is said to be good for health, you’ll get biased yin or yang anyways which leads to sickness or illness.
To avoid that, when you eat yin food, it is necessary to prepare yang food to make balance, and vice versa is right.

Extreme Yin Food and Yang Food: Effect on Body & Mind
Divide the various foods you have eaten up to now into yin-yang characteristics. You may know the reason for your problems such as swelling, tumors, body fat, stiff neck, and more.

Hello, I'm Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.

First of all, the basic thing is to divide the various foods we have eaten up to now into yin-yang characteristics.
There are foods with extreme yin or yang and foods with moderate yin or yang.
What you should do is to know the difference between these characteristics and control your diet.
It is essential to balance the yin and yang of food with extreme energy, and also the neutral state is regarded as important in macrobiotics. This is a moderate state.

You won't get sick if you enjoy the meal of balancing the extreme yin and extreme yang within a reasonable amount.
I recommend moderation, or the middle way, in both food balance and eating style.
To get started with a macrobiotic diet, here are some foods with extreme yin and yang qualities that are difficult to balance so you should avoid them, especially if you’re suffering from cancer or a serious illness.
1. LIST & EFFECT OF EXTREME YIN FOOD
Extreme yin food includes chocolates, cakes, sugar, brown sugar, honey, salty, crunchy snacks, herbs, green tea, coffee, and tea.
Tropical fruits such as banana, mango, kiwifruit, papaya, pineapple, fig, and pomegranate.

Vegetables native to tropical regions and of Solanaceae such as eggplant, potato, tomato, bell pepper, asparagus, sweet potato, and avocado.

Curry powder, pepper, red pepper, garlic, and stimulating spices.

Wheat flour products such as noodles, pasta and bread, and polished rice.

Dairy products such as milk, yogurt, heavy cream, butter, and ice cream.

Fat-rich foods such as fried foods and nuts.

And soft drinks such as sports drinks and ciders and alcohol are extreme yin foods.

How do these extreme yin foods affect our body and mind?
They cause the body to relax, retain water, cool, puff, swell, inflame, lose concentration, decrease memory, increase subcutaneous and body fat, urinate frequently, have cramps, sleep poorly, and become excited.
2. LIST & EFFECT OF EXTREM YANG FOOD
The opposite extreme yang foods are chemically synthesized salt, roasted food, burnt food, tobacco, beef, pork, ham, sausage, bacon, salami, chicken, egg, and cheese.

Hard-baked pizza, cookies, and bread among wheat flour products.

Also, Red-fleshed fish such as tuna, bonito, and salmon.
Blue-backed fish such as saury, mackerel, horse mackerel, sardine, cutlass fish, yellowtail, and flying fish.

Fish eggs such as salmon roe, tobiko (flying fish roe), tarako (cod roe), mentaiko (spicy pollack roe), kazunoko (herring roe), sea urchin, and caviar. They are very yang.

And crustaceans such as shrimp, crabs, and mantis shrimp.
Shellfish such as clam, shijimi (freshwater clam), and scallop.

Salty food, Tsukudani (food boiled in soy sauce), and dried fish such as mezashi (dried sardine), shishamo (dried smelt fish) and Surume (dried squid), and Shiokara (salted squid) are extremely yang.

How do these extreme yang foods affect our body and mind?
The effects of yang foods on your mind and body include tightening, stiffening, drying, warming, numbing, stubbornness, obsession, stiffness, tumors, cholesterol buildup, muscularity, and early morning awakening.
It’s good to observe what happens to your body depending on what you eat.

Get A Supreme Level of Judgement By Knowing Yin-Yang Theory
What is the standard when we judge things?
We have our own judgment criteria built up from our past experiences such as whether we are evaluated or not. Just forget about these and obtain a whole new standard based on yin and yang theory.

Hello, I'm Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
What is the standard when we judge things?
We have our own judgment criteria built up from our past experiences such as;
whether it is good or bad,
whether we like it or not,
whether we have a loss or a gain,
whether we are confident or not,
whether it is good for our health or not,
whether it is right or wrong,
whether it is difficult or easy,
whether it is convenient or not,
and whether we are evaluated or not.
Such experiences are endless.

But if you think about it well, these are all other people’s values.
Those experiences somebody told or taught you when you were a child, and those you happened to see or read are to know the values of other people, and your memories are a stock of them.
As you can see, each person’s own judgement criteria depend on his or her experience and are shaped by his or her beliefs.
The judgement criteria that match many people are called common sense.

Also, people have different criteria for judgments depending on where they live, their religion, or their historical background, and morals and ethics are basically the same.
In other words, something like “so many countries, so many customs”.
Then what are the universal criteria of judgement that are not influenced by region, religion, or historical background?
It’s the single best judgement criterion for humans.
It is said to be a law that was intuitively discovered in observing nature in ancient China more than 5000 years ago. It is called the "yin-yang theory," or the Order of the Universe.

The Order of the Universe is that eternal and infinite life, all matter, our thoughts, feelings, etc., all things in this world, whether they have a form or not, are divided into two complementary and antagonistic forces, characteristics, tendencies, or patterns.
These two forces, characteristics, tendencies and patterns create and change everything in this world.
In other words, these two antagonistic and complementary forces, characteristics, tendencies, and patterns combine to produce energy and all things in nature.

One of the two is a centripetal force which generates energy from all directions of the infinite universe toward the center of the earth.
It appears as descent, contraction, fusion, assimilation, gathering, and organization and is called yang.
Men are strongly affected by this yang celestial force.
The other is a centrifugal force that generates energy that radiates from the center of the rotating earth toward the universe.
It appears as ascent, diffusion, expansion, dispersion, separation, and decomposition and is called yin.
Women are strongly affected by this yin earth force.

If you know the forces, characteristics, tendencies, and patterns of yin and yang, and if you understand the law of yin and yang, you will be able to properly grasp and deal with the truth about everything, regardless of time, space, circumstance, or object.
In other words, to know yin and yang means to get the highest judgement power in the world.

The Secret of Chakra: Energy Spot In Your Body
We, humans, live in a world of energy created by two complementary forces or tendencies called yin and yang.
And humans are themselves energy bodies.

Hello, I'm Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
We, humans, live in a world of energy created by two complementary forces or tendencies called yin and yang.
And humans are themselves energy bodies.
So, we humans have energy spots and pathways to transmit energy.
Energy spots are called chakra here.

The chakra is the charging point of electromagnetic energy generated in the seven parts of the body where a contractile centripetal spiral force that descends from the universe, or heaven, toward the center of the earth, which enters from the hair whirl on the top of our head, and a diffuse centrifugal spiral force that ascends from the center of the earth, which enters from the genitalia in our crotch, toward the universe collide and crosses at the center of our body. Chakra is also called the "seven chakras".
Also, in ancient oriental medicine, the pathway that transmits energy is called keiraku, or meridian.
Meridian is like a leaf vein in plants, but energy here doesn’t mean material nutrients or oxygen.
It means the spiral electromagnetic energy generated in chakra.
There are twelve major meridians, which pass through the surface of our body via the internal organs of each of the seven chakras mentioned above and connect to both hands and feet and their fingertips.

These meridians have already formed in the mother’s womb when we were fetuses.
It was formed by the action of electromagnetic energy from these twelve meridians that were present in the mother’s uterus due to the descending energy from the heavens that the mother receives from the spirals of head and the rising energy of the earth coming from the genitals of her crotch.
And the meridians on the mother’s surface of the body also correspond to the charging of the Earth’s atmosphere, which is influenced by the countless stars that are orbiting the distant universe along the earth’s ecliptic.

You Are What You Eat; What Happens When You Eat Chicken?
"You are what you eat."
This is different from the idea of yin and yang, telling us eating food or the lives of animals or plants means eating characteristics and tendencies of each unique life. Let's look into the further meaning of this.
Hello, I'm Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.

Chicken for example.
You all know how chicken is nutritionally rich in protein, fat, and vitamins, and how it's nutritionally rich or low based on analysis.
When you read about them in books or magazines, or when you hear about them on TV from a registered dietitian, you may think that it is a great thing, and you will remember it for your future.
But this is very left-brained.
It brings you to the habit to judge things good or bad, and loss or gain based on memories.

Next, if you look at chicken from a yin and yang perspective, chicken is yang.
Of course, yin-yang is a world of comparison, so the point is whether chicken is yin or yang when compared to pork, beef, and duck.

Considering your current physical condition, constitution, mood, and behavioral tendencies, you may think it's better to go to a yakitori grilled chicken place rather than a yakiniku grilled beef place.
It's right-brained to think like this.
You thought about it with your mind, and you intended to make it correspond to your body.
The point is that what should be considered next as a standard next is not nutrition or yin-yang, but imagination in terms of vibration and energy.
It's more of a right-brained, more use of the top of the head, more imagery.
It's whether you want to be like a chicken, right now.

You observe their behavioral tendencies and habits.
First of all, chickens have a higher body temperature than other animals.
They get up early in the morning and announce, “it’s morning! Get up, everybody!”
They shake their head vertically.
They poke with their beaks.
They walk like hopping on two legs.

There’s a Japanese saying “Come to cockscomb” which means to get mad.
The meaning of chicken is timid, coward and wimp.
Chicken breast meat and tenderloin are dry. They are rather firm and hard.
Their thighs are thick and fatty.
Their calves are thin.
Their toes are curved and stiff.
Their neck is thin and long.
When you prepare a chicken, you wring a chicken’s neck.
A poor chicken is killed by wringing a neck.
That’s enough about this.
The fact that you eat chicken is that chicken becomes you. You become chicken.

In other words, you will get up early.
You will want to announce some good information. Or you often want to raise a strange voice.
You will get the habit of nodding at everything others say.
You get into the habit of poking at people’s weaknesses. Or you will want to abuse others.
You get into the habit of running fearfully.
You will become short-tempered and tend to lose your cool.
On the other hand, you will get nervous and timid.
You’ll become skinny, and if you are a woman, your breast will become smaller and the body will be muscular and firm, but only your thighs become thick.
You will have goose-skin or oily skin.
Your joints of fingers and toes will bend like rheumatism and become hallux valgus.
Your neck will be thin and long and often be suffered from a stiff neck.
If you try to kill yourself by any chance, you might choose to hang.
These happen if you eat too much, though.
When we eat an animal, we eat its life and that is, we eat its habits and behavioral tendencies.
In the same way, I can explain all kinds of animal food one by one.
Beef, pork, lamb, quail, duck, frog, snail, crab, prawn, squid, octopus, and fish.

The energies of those animals can come out in dreams, or it can be seen in your unconscious actions and feelings.
I used to write these stories in a magazine called Monthly Macrobiotics for fun, but that’s all for now.
Every event has a cause.
If you don’t find the cause, we won’t solve any problems.
I think you should keep in mind that one of the causes of your problems may be the vibration or energy of the food you eat.

The Order of the Universe; Yin and Yang
The first achievement of Yukikazu Sakurazawa, a Japanese educator who was the founder of the macrobiotic diet, known as George Ohsawa to the world, is that he figured out the Order of the Universe, the principles of the universe, and the laws of change of the universe. This is the fundamental principle of macrobiotics.

Hello, I’m Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
I think that many people around the world say that they practice macrobiotics, but I think that there are very few people who practice a way of life that follows this fundamental principle.
Believe unconditionally in the Order of the Universe. Doubt everything. Never believe in yourself or others.
This is the definition of macrobiotics.
The principles of the universe and the law of change of the universe are natural science, not a religion invented by humans.

It may be hard to understand, but please read it carefully many times.
“What are these all about?
I hope you had a family member or friend who could discuss it with you.
I introduce it to you hoping you learn by heart.
The seven principles of the infinite universe are:
1. Everything is a differentiation of one Infinity.
2. Everything changes.
3. All antagonisms are complementary.
4. There is nothing identical.
5. What has a front(i.e., a visible side) has a back(i.e., an invisible side).
6. The bigger the front, the bigger the back.
7. What has a beginning has an end.
The twelve laws of change of the infinite universe are:
1. One infinity manifests itself into complementary and antagonistic tendencies, yin and yang, in its endless change.
2. Yin and Yang are manifested continuously from the eternal movement of one infinite universe.
3. Yin represents centrifugality. Yang represents centripetality.
Yin and yang together produce energy and all phenomena.
4. Yin attracts yang. Yang attracts yin.
5. Yin repels ying. Yang repels yang.
6. Yin and yang combined in varying proportions produce different phenomena. The attraction and repulsion among phenomena are proportional to the difference of the yin and yang forces.
7. All phenomena are ephemeral, constantly changing their constitution of yin and yang forces; yin changes into yang, yang changes into yin.
8. Nothing is solely yin or solely yang. Everything is composed of both tendencies in varying degrees.
9. There is nothing neutral. Either yin or yang is in excess in every occurrence.
10. Large yin attracts small yin. Large yang attracts small yan.
11. Extreme yin produces yang, and extreme yang produces yin.
12. All physical manifestations are yang at the center, and yin at the surface.

Yin & Yang Basics ---Are You Yin Or Yang?
First of all, I hope you understand the simple basics of yin and yang.

Hello, I’m Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
Illness can be divided into excretion and accumulation.
There’re no other illnesses except these two.
The excretion is the energy going outside from the body, and it is the energy ascending and diffusing, so it is yin.
The accumulation is the energy going toward the inside of the body, and it is the energy descending and condensing, so it is yang.
Make sure to understand the difference between this yin and yang very well.
For example, rotten foods or oxidized food are extremely yin, so if you eat them, you’ll immediately get diarrhea, hives, or a fever.
It means that your body turned yin and is trying to excrete unnecessary waste for the body.
People whose constitution of the body is originally yin or the body condition at the moment is yin, because of taking excess water and eating too many raw vegetables, fruit, oil, sugar, ice cream, and yogurt.

People whose constitution of the body is originally yang or the body condition at the moment is yang, because of taking excess salt and eating too many crackers, biscuits, bread, dried food, meat, egg, smoked food, cheese, and meals cooked by pressure cooker or oven-based food.

If you compare these two types, yang people don’t get sick after eating the same rotten food for the same amount as the yin people.
No problem with them.
But yin people suffer from diarrhea and get allergies. They will get hives all over the body.
The characteristic of yin people is; whiter skin, chubby, a wide distance between eyes, black eyes, low eyebrows, broad forehead, long upturned eyelashes, wanting to grow hair, split ends, thin beard and body hair, reddish wet palms and soles of feet, soft and loose body texture, fast-growing nails, outside-curled nails, small head, long limbs.

The characteristic of yang people is; darker skin, thin and firm, narrow space between the eyes, eyes are brown, eyelash is short and downward, wants to have hair short, curled hair, beard and body hair are thick, yellowish dry palms and soles of feet, firm and hard body texture, slow growing nails, ingrown nails. large head, short limbs.

There is no end to it.
Yin people are introverted.
They are suited for work that is done silently and alone such as mail-order work.
Yang people are extraverted.
They are suited for sales and teamwork such as face-to-face sales.
They become leaders even if they don’t like it.

Yin people take a bath for a long time.
Yang people take a bath only for short time.
They don’t need a bath tab, only a shower is fine.
I can write about these forever.
These are examinations called “Bo-shin”.
Try to examine yourself.
It is a health check you can do by yourself.
When you are yin and cold, you want to eat Soba noodle made from buckwheat.
When you are yang and hot, you want to eat somen or udon noodles made from wheat.
Raw-eatable vegetables are yin.
Vegetables with strong scum are also yin.
All food that cooks quickly is yin.

Any Food that cannot be eaten without heating is yang.

Fat is yin and red meat is yang.
That is, people with high body fat are yin, and people with low body fat are yang.
Since any raw edible foods are yin, a person who easily gets a bite by mosquitos and is easy to be attacked by a bear is yin.
There is no end to it.
First of all, I hope you understand the simple basics of yin and yang.

The Macrobiotic Diet — Food Can Be Medicine and Poison
Suffered from breast cancer, mammary adenoma, mastitis, leukemia, cartilage wear, pimples, acne, and dandruff? You’ll see the cause of food of these problems and more if you read this.
Hello, I'm Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
Let’s try to divide the human body into surface and center first.
You’ll find nails, hair, skin, and fat on the surface.
You’ll find bones, organs, blood, lymph, and muscles in the center.
The outside is composed of lighter matter by centrifugal force, yin, and the center is composed of heavier matter by centripetal force, yang.
The smaller, the harder, and the more compacted matters are affected by a centripetal force and the larger, the softer, and the more expanded matters are affected by a centrifugal force.
If you look at seeds, poppy seeds and sesame seeds turn into bones and blood, pumpkin seeds turn into organs and lymph, sunflower seeds turn into muscle and nuts turn into fat. The skin of seeds and nuts turns into the skin.

For animal-derived foods, if you eat bones, they turn out to be bones and if you eat internal organs then they become internal organs. Of course, if you eat fat, it turns out into fat, muscle turns out into muscle, and the skin turns out into the skin.
Different organs become different organs. If you eat liver, it becomes liver, and the heart becomes heart, the kidney becomes kidney, reproductive organs become a reproductive organ, the stomach becomes stomach, the intestine becomes intestine and the brain becomes brain.
So you have to be very careful when you eat animal-derived food because if you eat too much, the corresponding part of your body will be affected.

If you eat too much fish bones or take too much broth of cartilage from chicken, pork bones, chicken bones, and beef bone meal, you’ll get abnormalities such as bone deformity, dislocation, rheumatism, or joint tension.
Eating too much Motsunabe, a Japanese beef or pork offal stew, is likely to cause diarrhea, constipation, overeating, obesity, and gastrointestinal deformation.

Steak, Sukiyaki and Yakiniku.
If you eat too much fatty marbled beef, internal fat and skinfold fat will accumulate and easy to form pus.
And hard red meat becomes your muscle and blood.
The skin of fish and chicken is also fatty and tasty, and if you eat too much, you tend to get itchy skin, eczema, or dermatitis.
Excessive intake of milk fat can lead to cartilage wear, pimples, acne, dandruff, breast cancer, mammary adenoma, mastitis, and leukemia.

Eating too much caloric or sugary foods can lead to hyperactivity, restlessness, uncontrollable thoughts, delusion, and insomnia.
Sugar is converted into fat in the body, causing obesity, skin disorders, the trouble with hair and tooth and bone wear.

Easiest Way to Ease Your Stiff Neck, Inflexible Fingers and Toes
If you understand yin and yang energy and choose the right part of the right vegetable, you can easily heal your body’s trouble by yourself.

Hello, I’m Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
You’ll be familiar with upward energy and downward energy, namely yin and yang after you read this.
Let’s see the difference between hands and feet.
Feet and legs move with the force and energy to hold downward.
You don’t move your toes very much.
Toenails are stocky and grow slowly.
Hands and arms move with upward force and energy.

You move your fingers often.
You can play the piano and the guitar by hand, but you can’t play by toe.
The fingernails of hands are long, thin, and fast-growing.
You have to understand that your hands and feet move with completely different energies.
The difference is that, for example, in the case of carrots, it’s the leaves that move your hands and fingers, and the roots that move your feet.
In other words, if you use your computer or smartphone all day, eat more leafy vegetables.
Diseases and injuries to hands and fingers are the results of a lack of leafy greens.

People who work standing, often walking, running, or climbing stairs have to eat the roots of vegetables.
You should know that the cause of foot diseases and injuries is a lack of root vegetables.
In addition, it is said that the cause of slipping down while climbing a mountain, falling down stairs, and tripping and falling down are all caused by a lack of root vegetables.
If your fingers hurt or your shoulders get stiff, you don’t have enough leafy greens.
The cause of your stiff neck is that you throw away the neck of a carrot without eating it.
The neck is the hard part of the base of the leaf, and the neck of the root.
If you eat that hard part, or make it into a veggie broth and use it in soup, you’ll have a strong, flexible neck.

The same goes for burdock, turnip, Japanese mustard spinach, edible chrysanthemum, pak choy, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower.

You Can Develop Holistic Thinking BY Choosing Food
Way of thinking, Mentality and characteristic is strongly affected by what you eat. Don’t struggle, just change food to gain a holistic perspective.

Hello, I’m Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
I’m going to write a little bit about human beings.
Let's look at the human body in terms of energy.
The human body is basically divided into the head and the body.
Some people are very tall and some people are chunky.
Usually, a head-to-body ratio of 1: 7 is ideal; some people have a small head, long arms and legs that are close to 1: 8, and some people have a large head, short arms and legs that are close to 1: 6.
People of Africa, North America, Canada, Northern Europe and Russia tend to be close to 1: 8, and people of South America, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, India, China and Asian countries tend to be close to 1: 6.

If you eat wheat or corn as your staple food, you get taller.
If you eat rice as your staple food, you get shorter and thicker.
And grinding grain into flour and baking it in the oven makes your thinking analytical and destructive.
If you make those baked flour your staple food, your energy will become rough.
And it cultivates a scientific, mathematical and conceptual way of looking at things.
If you eat rice as your staple food, the shape of your head will be like rice and you will have a mild look.
In particular, by cooking whole grains with water, you can develop holistic thinking and objective insight.

The difference between the East and the West is actually due to the difference in food culture and how they eat their staple food.
You could say that human beings are food ghosts.

The Secret Japanese Food That Makes Your Blood Flow Smoothly
According to nutrition science, there is food in this world that only the Japanese can eat! It seems to be the function of enzymes in the intestine. What’s that? Do you know?

Hello, I’m Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
I worked at two sushi restaurants in Boston and two in Hawaii in my twenties.
Actually, I heard that "there is food in this world that only the Japanese can eat" from a white person.
Some white people dislike it, but many like to eat it.
Koreans like to eat it, so I think it’s a bit of an overstatement to say that only the Japanese can eat it, but there’s no doubt that it’s a traditional Japanese super nutritional food that spreads all over the world.
Now, what is it?
It’s not Natto or Tofu.
It’s not Miso or Shoyu.
They are now common nouns in English, but in addition to those soy products, it is now sweeping the world.
In English, it is called “seaweed”.

They include; Kombu Seaweed, Hijiki Seaweed, Wakame Seaweed, and Nori Seaweed.
The most representative among them is Nori, which cannot be digested except by Japanese people.

From an energy perspective, Kombu seaweed keeps your kidneys and reproductive organs clean and makes your bones stronger.

Wakame seaweed stores nutrients in the liver.

Hijiki seaweed strengthens blood vessels.

Nori seaweed enhances metabolism, promotes growth, and increases hair volume, and makes hair firm.
When you eat the guts of abalone and turban shells, you can smell and taste the condensed smell of Nori seaweed and Wakame seaweed.
That’s because shellfish mainly eat them, and when we eat shellfish, the reproductive organs, liver and kidneys of both men and women become more active.

Nori seaweed contains a large amount of folic acid (B-group vitamin).
It is said to be the most important nutrient for fertility and the most necessary for promoting the growth of fetuses and infants.
It makes your hair beautiful and prevents split ends, breakage and gray hair.
Also, if you have a vegan diet, you will inevitably develop a vitamin B12 deficiency, which tends to cause anemia, ischemic heart disease, and arteriosclerosis. Taking folic acid suppresses these symptoms.
Nori seaweed is rich in protein and vitamin A and C.
It is rich in dietary fiber, so your bowel movements will be better and your intestinal bacteria will be healthy.
As for nutritional value, there’s no end to it, so I’ll go with that, but what you need to know is that if you want to keep your body healthy, you should eat seaweed.
Seaweed increases the oxygen in the sea and nurtures the animals in the sea.
It always purifies the sea and keeps it clean, so you can say it is a forest of the sea.

60% of our body is water, which is the same concentration as ancient seawater.
Our body fluid needs sodium and our body conducts electricity, which means our body fluid is made of electrolytes, and therefore we need salt. Not only you should take salt, but you should also take plenty of seaweed, then you get sodium from the sea extract of seaweed, and you should get plenty of potassium from the land plants.
Then, your neurotransmitters and neural pathways function normally, improving the immune system and preventing autoimmune diseases such as allergy, atopic dermatitis, collagen disease, rheumatism, and other intractable diseases.
Make sure to use Kombu seaweed for soup stock, cook Wakame seaweed miso soup, and simmered hijiki and arame.
And make sure to wrap the rice ball with Nori seaweed.

It would be perfect if you eat brown rice sushi rolls every day.

Edamame; Super Vegetable You Can Live On
Edamame is young soybean harvested before they ripen and has various health benefits. Read on to find out more about the benefits of edamame from the perspective of macrobiotics.

Hello, I’m Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor. Is edamame good for you? Here’s all you need to know about it.
In preparation for the food crisis, I recommended a carrot home garden, but even though carrots are one of the most protein-rich vegetables in the world, they’re not enough to build muscles, organs, blood vessels, and bones.
I recommend stockpiling rice flour and brown rice flour, but if you don’t have any, this is the only one!
You can definitely live with this!
That is Edamame.
Edamame is young green soybean.
Soybeans, the king of protein, are generally harvested when they are matured and their leaves and pods are brown, but edamame are harvested when their pods are still green.
Edamame contains as much protein as soybeans, and it has many advantages over soybeans.
First of all, edamame contains methionine which is necessary to break down alcohol.
So, you can live with only beer and edamame.

It also contains a large amount of isoflavones, so it prevents aging, improves hormone balance, and keeps your skin and mucous membranes beautiful and strong.
It also contains a lot of vitamins B1, B2 and C, so it helps you recover from fatigue and boost your immune system.
Especially the pods and thin skin contain dietary fiber full of beta carotene.
Instead of throwing away the pods, you can boil them in water and drink them as veggie broth or make soup stock.
Above all, growing soybeans is easy.
It grows on wasteland.
If you give them nitrogen-based fertilizer, they won’t grow.
The reason is that it absorbs nitrogen from the air and stores nutrients in the roots.
Therefore, by growing soybeans, fertile land grows.
If you sow ripe soybeans in the spring, you can eat edamame in the summer and harvest soybeans in the fall.
If you sow it again the next year, it will sprout.

When you usually make edamame dishes, you may only boil it in salted water and sprinkle salt on it, or cook it with rice.
However, you can make kakiage with corn, boil the beans with their pods, strain the beans through a sieve and harden them with kudzu or agar, mix the strained edamame with the boiling water to make a suri-nagashi soup, or add olive oil to the strained edamame to make an Italian sauce.
You can also make tofu, natto and tempeh from soybeans.
Miso and soy sauce, also.

Your dreams will spread fast with Edamame.

What Carrot Can Help You About Your Healthier Life
No matter where you go in the world, you’ll find carrots. I think there is no country without carrots. And no other vegetable in the world is recognized for its medicinal properties.

Hello, I’m Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
I’m going to introduce carrots from the Yin-Yang perspective.

Carrot, a member of the Umbelliferae family, has leaves that smell and taste very similar to those of Japanese parsley, and there is no other leafy vegetable with such high energy.
Carrot leaves are very yang and serrated like mugwort leaves.
It has a completely different nature from a flat and spreading yin leaf.

When we think of carrots, we often think of a picture of a horse running with a carrot hanging from its nose, but that doesn't mean it's a horse's favorite food.
But if you eat carrots, you will be so motivated.
While burdock gives instantaneous power, carrot gives endurance.
That’s because the sugars in carrots are complex polysaccharides that burn for a long time, unlike white sugars and fruits. Carrot is the only vegetable that contains a lot of carbohydrates.
Carrots, like pumpkins, are orange, which is the pigment of β-carotene, the precursor of vitamin A.
Other than that, no vegetable contains vitamins and minerals in such a good balance.
If you’re thinking of growing vegetables in your garden or on your balcony in case of a food crisis, I strongly recommend carrot farming. It grows very easily.
You can get chlorophyll from carrot leaves and beta-carotene, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals from roots.
Even without rice, you can live a healthy life with just carrots.

In addition, you will be energetic, gain physical strength, and never get tired.
It will strengthen your legs and back, and it will improve your physical condition.
Presbyopia, nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, cataracts, glaucoma, and any eye disease can also be cured.
You can never live on sweet potatoes or potatoes. You will definitely have tuberculosis.
On the other hand, you can live on carrots.
I recommend drinking carrot juice every day, and you can make a simple carrot rapee instead of salad.
If you grate the carrot, mix it with rice flour, steam it or boil it, and eat it instead of bread, you can survive deliciously.
You can eat pumpkins and chestnuts as a staple food, but you can never eat them raw.
Carrots, on the other hand, are versatile vegetables that can be grilled, sauteed, fried, boiled, steamed, or eaten raw. Keep in mind that carrots are moderate vegetables that are high in vitamins, minerals, protein and carbohydrates.
That’s why it’s grown all over the world.

Effect Of “Gokun” Five Pungent Roots ; Use the right tools for the right job
What happens to your body and mind when you eat Allium vegetables such as onion, garlic or chinese chives?

Hello, I’m Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
There’s no absolutely Good Food or Bad food. Learn the effect and energy of each food and you can choose what your body needs now.
Leeks, chives, scallions, garlic and onions,
these five vegetables of the genus Allium are called Gokun (five pungent roots).
“Kun” means that it has a strong smell.
Avoiding eating animal-derived foods such as meat, fish and poultry are called San-en.
In Buddhism, Taoism and strict Hinduism, San-en and Gokun are avoided.
People who practice an oriental vegan diet avoid these Gokun for no religious reason.
Allyl sulfide is said to be the origin of the smell of Gokun vegetables, and as the saying goes, “poison controls poison”, you should eat these Gokun vegetables when you eat animal products such as meat, fish, and poultry.
It has the effect of delaying the decay of meat, fish, poultry and removing the bad smell with the bad smell.
At the same time, even if it’s not for religious reasons, people who practice vegan diets should avoid Gokun.
If a completely vegan person takes too much Gokun, it may cause gastrointestinal problems.
The characteristic of Gokun vegetables is that they have a strong pungent smell, and at the same time, they are effective in increasing physical strength, endurance, and energy.
The mental effect is to become a person who is strong and enthusiastic.
So it’s not for people who pray or meditate all day.

In order to reduce the strong energy of Gokun vegetables, the cooking time should be long.
It’s good to roast them in the oven, stir-fry slowly, or simmer them for long time.
By doing so, the strong stimulating smell components disappear, and on the contrary, the effect of suppressing the backflow of stomach acid, heartburn and burp comes out.
It’s been said that you can sleep soundly by placing onions at your bedside. If you get so excited that you can’t sleep as the night before you go on a trip, you can eat Gokun and sleep better.
Onion soup has a relaxing effect.
You also need chopped green leeks when you eat soba noodles.

When you eat seared bonito or salmon, you always need raw garlic or raw onion.
You need to neutralize bonito and salmon because they make you aggressive.

If you hang garlic from the eaves, Dracula can’t come close.

Everything comes in handy when used correctly.

What You Can Get From Burdock, A Super Vegetable Of Japan
Miracle vegetable will strengthen your legs, ease your swelling and more!

Hello, I’m Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
“You are what you eat.” Then, what’ll happen when you eat burdock? Here’s the answer.
The miraculous power of burdock.
Daikon radish is white and lotus root is a brown vegetable.
Burdock is also a typical brown vegetable in Japan.
Japanese people would think that burdock is cultivated in other countries since there is an English name, but there is no other country where burdock is cultivated for food even if there are areas where it grows wild.
It was originally introduced in Japan from China as an herbal medicine in the Heian period, and after many selective breedings, the thin and firm Japanese burdock with a unique flavor was born.
First, burdock is always used in Japan for river fish dishes such as Yanagawa-nabe of loach, carp dishes, and Hachiman-maki of eel.
Burdock is used to remove the fishy smell peculiar to river fish because it has a yang medicinal effect to neutralize a yin poison of freshwater fish.

When you are exhausted, when lactic acid accumulates in your muscles and you cannot move anymore, the burdock will show its power.
Burdock has an energy that extends straight downward deep in the ground, so when you eat burdock, you’ll have a strong grip on the ground.
Burdock is essential for track and field events such as high jumping, pole vaulting, vertical jumping, long jumping, sprinting, long distance running and race walking.

If you eat burdock the day before climbing or hiking, you won’t get tired and you won’t get injured.
The burdock makes your legs strong that much.
Typical dishes include Kinpira, Nishime, Umeni (simmered burdock with pickled plum), and Tataki-gobo (burdock roots that have been pounded and garnished with a sesame dressing). I especially recommend Tataki-gobo.

If you eat Tataki-gobo, it is the same as you train your feet by pounding them.
Burdock is perfect for standing work.
Umeni is recommended for hangovers, food poisoning prevention, belching, gas, heartburn, indigestion, diarrhea, and other gastrointestinal problems. Of course, it is also effective for catching cold.
Daikon radish, cabbage and lotus root.
You can never take burdock lightly.
