The younger hedgehog put a bit more distance between them, eyes narrowing, ears back. As the energy flickered about the other hedgehog's inhibitors he braced himself for an attack. It was clear he didn't trust Shadow, especially when it seemed he started getting emotional. He had no intention of breaking their 'truce' himself but he was prepared to attack and defend if Shadow broke it.
His glare sharpened as Shadow continued on and there was a low, growl-like noise from him as he responded.
<...He will not betray me nor am I 'brainwashed'. He stepped up to be the father you refused to be for me. Took me in and trained me. Taught me how to use my powers. As for why I do the things I do... Some are for him, yes. But I enjoy doing what I do. I used to hate this... noise. The sensation of other people's emotions. But now I enjoy them. I enjoy feeling them just like I'm enjoying your anger now. It used to be too much but now... now I crave it. And of course I want his approval. Does not every child yearn for the approval of their parent? He may as well be my father because you certainly never were. You say how long before he betrays me... But I could throw the same thing back at you. How long before you betray your new family? Leave them behind just like you did us? I said it before and I'll say it again. A leopard can not change its spots. You have not changed. But I'm sure it makes you feel that much better to tell yourself you have.>
Those monstrous glow green eyes simply watched Shadow a moment at that. He was contemplating just how to word his next thoughts before deciding to just be blunt with that as well.
<...And despite this, despite knowing you were a 'poison' you moved on to a new family. Instead of trying to make Us work out you just... moved on. Found a new family and discarded us. You'll have to forgive me if I have a hard time believing that it was 'for us' given the circumstances.>

Zakarias merely listened quietly as Shadow spoke, not seeming particularly impressed or moved by what Shadow had to say. It honestly didn't shift his opinion of him by the look of things. If anything, he seemed potentially... Disgusted by him. His mother had clearly sugar coated when they'd spoken to him about his father. Had painted him in a much brighter light than was the truth of the matter. He didn't really find himself too surprised. Sonic always did try to make excuses for other people.
After some time he shook his head.
<...You're worse than I imagined.>
It was a flat statement.
<...Mother would have tried to help you. Not that they should have. You made mistake after mistake and tried to hide it like a kid who wet the bed when it went to far. Despite whatever mother may have thought, maybe we were better off without you.>

It was honestly hard to tell what the young hedgehog was thinking as he listened - his expression more or less remained the same. He was clearly attentive and listening but there was also the hint of something else - he seemed alert. He watched each and every move Shadow made, each little twitch of a muscle, any sort of gestures. Even as he listened he was on edge, as if partially expecting this to be a trap.
He didn't seem to relax as Shadow continued either. He had been told a little of his father though listening to Shadow now he suspected that much of it had been sanitized. Perhaps in a failed attempt to get Zakarias to view his father in a more positive light - an effort that clearly failed. Not just with him but Elizabeth as well.

I mean. You could always use the hair accessories its dropping yourself?
*an enormous pink bow drops out of it amidst the glitter, candy, etc*
He had tried to put the bow on one of the larvae. It ate it and then tried to eat his hand before he flung it across the room.

Zakarias honestly had no real opinion at the thought of having to fight someone if they interrupted. In fact, he rarely had actual fights - most of the time it was akin to swatting a fly. A minor annoyance but ultimately nothing of real substance or even entertainment. It was usually the reactions of those witnessing it that provided the most amusement. The sudden spike of emotions that he could practically taste, the look of intermingled fear, anger, despair, grief... and sometimes even a bit of rebellion. Which was always just a little cherry on top. He thought it was funny when they actually thought their anger would give them the power to beat him. Hilarious, in truth.
If it was just one person and no real witnesses... Well, it would be boring and end entirely too soon.
Regardless, this wasn't what he was here for today. He was here to learn the reason Shadow had abandoned him. Zakarias doubted this would change his sentiments towards his father and it was even more unlikely to make him abandon Black Doom - the one person he pledged his loyalty to and the one who stepped up when he most needed someone. The one who had given him a purpose and taught him to use his abilities - the abilities that didn't depend on his Chaos energy. His abilities gifted by way of the Black Arms blood that flowed in his veins.

How are you enjoying your personal cute cloud?
...It was mildly interesting for the first few minutes however now it is becoming quite the annoyance.
...Plus the larvae kept following him around trying to eat the weird stuff. He wondered vaguely if it was safe for them to eat. Regardless, it was everywhere at this point and he had no idea how he was supposed to clean it up.
Maybe eventually the larvae would eat it all. One could only hope.

A kindly anon gives you a sex ed book for mobians. It's... extensive in It's explanations
He looks at the cover, opens to a random page and immediately finds himself uninterested. He tosses it into a mass of Black Arms larvae who then swarm the book and devour it.

[[ Azu and @shadakai 's youngest, Zak. Their Problem Child that Black Doom GRACIOUSLY took under his evil alien wings... or tentacles... or whatever it is Black Doom has... He doesn't have a blog as of the moment but I have been toying with the idea...]]

M!a for the next 24 hours (or as long as it amuses le mun) you'll be followed by a cloud raining glitter, rainbows, candy and all other things cute and kawaii!
Zakarias had been sitting in the woods, not far from the Black Arms hive he called 'home' sketching away in a sketchbook before suddenly a shadow loomed over him and began to sprinkle... glitter, candy and rainbows?... all over him and his sketchbook.
There's a long moment of confusion as he just kind of stares at the glitter now beginning to pile up on his drawing. Vivid and slightly glowing green eyes looked up at the cloud, glaring at it a moment before carefully setting his sketchbook to the side and standing up... before attempting to launch a volley of chaos energy blasts at it.

There was a stretch of silence after the question, an almost awkward one. Awkward seemed to easily summarize the younger hedgehog's social presence. That almost off-putting sort of vibe of someone who clearly wasn't particularly used to speaking with others that was likely made worse by the bad blood between the two. After a moment he looked away from the upturned earth and back to his father. His gaze was equally awkward or if you were anyone other than the 'Ultimate Lifeform' it might have been a distinctly unsettling one.
His eyes were a bright vivid green and in other life perhaps they would have been almost reminiscent to Sonic's before his little incident with the whole 'becoming a Chaos Emerald' thing.
Almost.
Except there was an edge to it, something that would have sent the chills down the spine of a lesser creature. They lacked the warmth and enthusiasm that the blue hedgehog's gaze had been. An unnatural eerie glow seemed to come from them and the pupils were slit, like that of some sort of predator. The eyes of a monster.
<...Its of no real consequence. Should they choose to interrupt, they can be dealt with.>
It seemed he had no intention of moving for the sake of some supposed threat - he clearly didn't see whatever it was as one. Things usually tended to get out of his way or die. This should be no different if whatever it was wished to interrupt.

He had been examining the place his mother had buried the former inhabitants of this decimated village - someone had even upturned that. Zakarias was picking through the upturned graves as Shadow appear, discovering that they were empty. He frowned a little as he seemed to consider this turn of events.
He wondered who would go as far as to rob the graves of the bodies. He saw little point in that. Sure, had Doom been involved the bodies would have gone to feed their kin but only when they were fresh - and even this act bothered the hedgehog on a level he didn't quite understand. Especially since the bodies had only been weak mortals... But that was neither here nor there.
Someone was approaching though by the energy signature - or lack thereof - it didn't seem to be Shadow. He wondered if it had been whoever had caused this damage... He straightened up to turn to see who it was - which revealed to him that it was indeed Shadow. His head tilted slightly to the side with obvious curiousity but he kept his distance.
<...Someone else has been here.>
The words were not spoken outloud but rather through telepathy. It seemed for the time being that Zakarias was going to continue his trend of not speaking verbally. At least for the moment.

The conversation had given him a lot to think about, too much to think about and he felt overwhelmed to a degree. Not that it took much to overwhelm him. His head always felt like there was buzzing and confusion, it never really stopped. This only seemed to make it worse... and reading his father's words had done nothing to help. Regardless, he went to the agreed meeting place - the burnt out remains of some iteration of Knothole Village.
It seemed someone else had come through here after they had left. The crumbling remains of the huts that had been there last he had seen were nothing but char and ash. The glistening pool that had once been there seemed to have been drained, nothing left but dirt and the unfortunate remains of any aquatic life rotting away.
A great deal of the trees had been cut down as well, leaving the once lush forest nothing but waste and cinders. He wondered how recent this had been - it felt like only yesterday he had battled with his father here...
A deep frown was on his lips as he surveyed the scene, not uttering a word as he waited for Shadow to arrive.
