Even if life away from land is romantic, in order to live on the waves of the Zee, it is sometimes necessary to go to the port to replenish supplies. At such moments, it is possible to cross paths with new faces, whether they are drunks in a tavern or random fellow travelers. It is during such a visit to the port that a stranger and his entourage visit you.

A small company with sparkling eyes. Tall and short, they echo every word of their leader. They are dressed in robes that hide their faces (only one figure from the entourage wears an extremely fashionable pin in the shape of a sunflower), unlike the one who smiles at you like an old friend. A costume worthy of an Ambassadorial Ball, but not a crowd of zailors and merchants. Eyes that are impossible to remember in their entirety. But it's a familiar feeling… And laughter. A velvety, arrogant, friendly laugh. Red hair and a neat mustache. Who is he?

"My delicious friend, how glad I am to meet you! It's been so long since we've seen each other!" He says. The entourage laughs, and their leader only has to wave his hand to calm them down. "I came to you on business. I will ask you to deliver this mirror to the Salt Steppe. The Old Nag, my personal ship, will meet you there, which will obviously be worse than yours… Don't worry, when the job is done, a reward awaits you, a worthy reward. In the meantime… Прощай, мой милый друг."

And they left you with a glass wrapped in black velvet in your hands. But at the same time, you have an unspoken question on your lips. Who is he?

i was doing it for such a long period of time (the ask was sent on jan 2) that during that time Kys managed to GET MARRIED, on this thing he's not with Edward yet, but most likely gonna be with him on the next one (or not, depends on circumstances, time frames are a mystery even in fl itself, so that's fine)

in any way, I REALLY APPRECIATE THIS, IT MEANS A LOT TO ME, NOT JOKING, and I hope I don't upset you with my difficult-to-control perfectionism (like. I know I wasn't forced to do it originally, didn't need to choose the way of drawing full art for those kinds of things or even draw in general. BUT HERE I AM. THERE'S NO WAY BACK. but that's my own problem yeah, and also because I honestly didn't know how to answer to that in any other way)

this years was so far the best year of my 18 years, not without its own problems, but also not completely horrible like it was before

I've changed a hyperfixation and since not very long ago trying to live with a new additional one, and looks like so far it goes fine

and I think I'm gonna talk a bit about my sonas since they are in this post

fallen london/sunless sea Kys ISN'T 18, he was 16-17 when he got to the zee, just as a sailor, and due to various circumstances he lost his past and was living under the care of eldritch creatures for a couple of years, and spent a few years learning how to survive in the zee as a captain, I have no fucking idea how to calculate his age

with ultrakill Kys it's much easier, he's a machine so the age doesn't really have any meaning, but I guess mentally he's 18 now

OH YEAH, AND ZIRCON, HIS FIRST FULL APPEARANCE

this tiny creature, and for some time I wasn't sure whether to include him or not, but he fits due to the whitsun

he isn't a whitsun creature, but Edward will definitely create him for Kys' birthday, WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY SWEET

as usual for my sonas I've made a black kinda eldritch substance that can take any shape or form and affect/infect other people

SO NOW I HAVE

PLAGUE

and I'm going to explain it in more detail on a ref/art of Kys himself, but in short

- plague prefers not to kill but to infect anything that has blood, changing the behaviors of the infected one in the process for its own goals, bur also giving regeneration abilities and vitality

in the flesh form the plague is the most unstable, especially given that it spreads through the infected's body, so machines are the best option

Kys, who is also a machine, brought this infection into hell, and this infected streetcleaner is one of the machines he took into his team of infected machines FOR FUN

you can't deny that streetcleaners are similar to rats

and literally, when I went to godfall and polythreme in the morning for the first time, and returned to London on the evening, I FELT THIS VERY SPECIFIC EMOTION

lol this could be considered canon, considering that Kys is me (and even though he looks timid, he could be an autistic adhd disaster because I'M MYSELF SOME KIND OF A DISASTER IRL)

even though Kys' actual home is asterism (his ship) or ursa major (my fanmade island), but the way fl describes London as "home" sounds very cute, and his best friend tends to show him around

HEEEEEY HELLO

I'm working on an art for an answer to a text in my inbox, but on the way I've decided to just draw Zodiac in this moment, BECAUSE I HAVEN'T DRAWN HIM AT ALL TECHNICALLY

and there's gonna be meowing about him, because I tend to mention Kys' eldritch beings a lot, but they've only appeared in a post with his reference that I DON'T REALLY LIKE THAT MUCH NOW

there's gonna be a lot of text

Zodiac is a smaller version of Leader of Creation, who in turn is a lesser part of Polairis, which gave him a separate conciousness and power, and Polairis is kind of like a judgement but who doesn't tend to make laws, it likes to observe the existing, Leader follows that too, even though has an immeasurable urge to create EVERYTHING with its power, and doing this in the local circle of himself, Kys, Pearl's Reader and sometimes Moondial

Zodiac was created when Kys started to go to the zee, and he wasn't created just by the Leader's desire, but Kys was always kinda timid and could wish for a support from his side, and ever since Zodiac is an unchageable main officer on Asterism (lol it's a name of Kys' ship, it's silly to give them names related to stars)

as a main and first officer, he would do everything where there's not enough hands or knowledge, Leader himself has made Asterism out of anything that the Moondial could find in the zee (it doesn't give a shit about fathomking YEAH), he knows it from start to finish, and he also knows about the workings of living organisms' bodies so sometimes he even could be a surgeon, and as Kys started to look for officers with different specializations, he would take part in different officer roles while those were empty (I'm making a crew for Kys out of officers from sunless sea), and in result he usually works as a cook, moving the the stuff, tends to spend time in the cargo because he doesn't need a separate cabin, sometimes he jokingly counts as a cargo and not a crew member himself

true neutral, guite polite and non-confrontational, tends to just do the work given to him by Kys (he listens to the others from time to time), with an eldritch being behavior, it's not that difficult for him to act organically and natural, but not so rare he likes to act unnatural for usual people, because he liks to observe their reactions, nothing going beyond limits or annoying, just a bit of a regular confusion

still follows Polairis when possible, so from his side accepts many things as normal and doesn't try to change anything on his own wish, can only interfere if Kys asks for help and it becomes his work

his look is very bizarre, because he can be bizarre, even if somebody tells him about that, why should he care

he could be an unremarkable figure in a cape or a mask (uh, more human-looking mask), but it would raise even more questions and a ground for (already incorrect) speculation, and in that way he is just some kind of a thing, not even pointing at what anything could be referencing, maybe he's some sort of a relic? or a being from polythreme or red science? a person without knowledge couldn't tell, so general people only can take him as one of the many oddities of Neath

continuing with his look, it's neither hair nor fur, technically those are thin fibers, gather and formed, are rough and inflexible to the touch (be careful to not get splinters)

even if you remove the fastenings they would keep the same shape, though would get messy with time

about the way he talks, thankfully not directly into your mind (or something worse, YEAH MOONDIAL-), he has no throat, so he just produces the sound waves, using his voice, loud enough for the listener to hear him, in theory he can imitate any kind of voice or even any kind of sound, not even depending on the volume

(and I guess length, I found it funny that clay men didn't need to make any pauses in their talking, that's literally Zodiac if he spoke some more)

his look isn't just weird, but works in a similar way too

his body and material mostly resembles wood, so he could be compared to a puppet or clothes-colonies, but he has only one "puppeteer", a shard of a star

bodies of the Leader and Polairis work in the same way, the power of the shard lets you bend hard objects like joints, and use the fabric as muscles, but actually Zodiac's shard isn't that big, especially so that he could remake the objects (at max he can hold the items next to the mask, as if he held those with "teeth"), and yet this element is very powerful, literally a physical part of a judgement, but it's also practically impossible to get it for yourself, since Zodiac is still stronger than a regular person and wouldn't mind to scratch your face with the claws, break your neck and throw as an example in the zee, you would still need to take his mask off somehow (and it's pretty sturdy in an itself), and the shard itself still has its own will and can become quite dangerous

I don't know how ooc it is in context of fl/ss/Neath, but a lore of this kind surely exists in my mind and it just HAPPENED and now they're all in their own atmosphere

so

and a little fact at the end, Kys associates with an eight-pointed star, Polairis with a six-pointed star, and Leader and Zodiac with a five-pointed star, so he has as an example 5 tails on his head

I've been partially mentioning this, but here it's more collected, but in short OUR WALKTHROUGH OF LIGHT FNGERS IS EVEN MORE OF A SITUATION THAN LIGHT FINGERS ITSELF

I love this fact so much that at some point me and Rinja are going to make a whole list of WHAT WENT WRONG (hybrid is now a sequencer with moon-misery (dawn-miser LMAO) and mr fires got it, so know this), and a part of this is gonna be a situation of Kys and Edward (this is not a full description of it, but maybe I'll make a full one someday)

behold, first in the fandom HEALTHY relationships with Edward, AND THAT'S NOT EVEN A JOKE

I'm gonna start with the obvious, but probably unexpected, Edward is COMPLETELY identical to Rinja, and Rinja is completely identical to Edward, and what Edward would do, Rinja would do too (considering the context of the former one) and vice versa, and Rinja is my irl internet best friend, and fl Kys' best friend as well, and it's not even an exaggeration of any of the sides, THEY ARE BOTH FUCKED UP AND IT'S ABSOLUTELY A FACT

and you know who Rinja has as well? THEIR GIRLFRIEND, and their relationships can be fairly called healthy as well (literally like Kys and Edward, it's like the gay version of those two, no jokes that there are many similarities)

there are many factors that they SUDDENLY could get together, of course, not without the difficulties of the ambition itself (fortunately, Rinja could also support Kys as a fellow bpd aspd guy just as Edward), and also, I've realized that Kys doesn't even hate Edward like it's described in the ambition, and could get used to him, BECAUSE HE LITERALLY HAS THE EXPERIENCE, and even on the wedding in the nightmare orphanage he doesn't lock him up here, firstly I thought that Kys would think that it's too cruel and would probably give Edward a second chance because he doesn't hold a personal grudge against him (objectively his life wasn't the best, POOR EDWARD), but the actual answer is that HE WOULDN'T EVEN THINK THAN YOU COULD DO THAT, he would literally ask him to give him the goblet with the moon milk, for safety, but will refuse to drink the milk, and will agree to marry him for the hybrid, AND THEN HE AND RINJA WILL TELL HIM THAT THEY'RE GONNA GET HIM OUT OF HERE LATER

AND THEY WILL DO IT

EDWARD STILL CAN BE IN LONDON LIKE USUAL

AND KYS HAS ACCEPTED HIS FATE THAT HE NEEDS TO BE CLOSE TO HIM

even though it's a little funny, he's gonna be homeless for some time and will return to the nightmare orphanage until he suggests to work as an officer on Kys' ship, and then later they could even sleep together (lol Edward is gonna have more problems with this, than Kys), WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY CUTE AND I ADORE THIS

and also the confirmation that everything is serious between those two, I've been thinking about their fankid, pretty much real, but not that much (WITHOUT MPREG I DON'T ALLOW MPREG), giggling, from parabola and with the help of Kys' eldritch beings, AND IT'S SO CUTE I'M CRYING

there are many things to discuss, about Edward himself and our headcanons and analysis of him we could tell a lot about him, both about his past and present life and how he would react to the changes (and the feeling that he has an identity), BUT. I REALLY WORKED HARD ON THIS ART AND I DON'T WANT TUMBLR TO EAT THIS POST BECAUSE OF TOO MUCH TEXT, THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES
