Can you guys watch my fairy tale prince with the lamb motif and my jaded knight who sees himself as nothing more than a starving and desperate wolf while I step out for a moment? And DON'T 🫵 let them kiss.

Remembering the guy who tried to bond with me over us both enjoying reading but when I asked him for titles he would clam up and refuse to mention any. "They're internet novels," he'd say vaguely. I know what you are dude

i remember when i was a child internet safety was like "if you even hint at the country you live in, you're gonna get kidnapped and murdered", and nowadays it is encouraged or even necessary to give corporations every single personal detail if you want to use anything because if they can't sell your information they cry so hard they throw up

#char chats#some immediate unfollows happening this morning#this insistence upon villainizing trans men for… being men. when that’s their thing!#hey fellow activists and advocates?#if you cannot stand up for [A Group] without tearing down [B Group] you’re just an asshole#you aren’t helping trans women by attacking trans men

“There are no female aliens in our game because we don’t know how to make a female version of this alien” You know that alien you just designed? That male alien? Give it a female voice actor and have characters refer to it as she. That’s it. That’s literally all you have to do
Make her shorter if you must
Make her BIGGER if you aren’t a coward

I do consider "let people enjoy things" to be a sort of thought terminating cliche at this point. while there are of course exceptions it seems to most often be employed as a knee jerk response to any critical or dissenting opinions no matter how impersonal, which isn't so much taking a stance for the freedom of individual taste as expressing a profound discomfort with criticism being expressed at all.

“Jim Cooper, a former LAPD officer turned sociologist, has observed that the overwhelming majority of those who end up getting beaten or otherwise brutalized by police turn out to be innocent of any crime. ‘Cops don’t beat up burglars,’ he writes. The reason, he explained, is simple: the one thing most guaranteed to provoke a violent reaction from the police is a challenge to their right to, as he puts it, ‘define the situation.’ That is, to say ‘no, this isn’t a possible crime situation, this is a citizen-who-pays-your-salary-walking-his-dog situation, so shove off,’ let alone the invariably disastrous, ‘wait, why are you handcuffing that guy? He didn’t do anything!’ It’s ‘talking back’ above all that inspires beat-downs, and that means challenging whatever administrative rubric has been applied by the officer’s discretionary judgment. The police truncheon is precisely the point where the state’s bureaucratic imperative for imposing simple administrative schema and its monopoly on coercive force come together.”

“The New York Times collaborated with a white nationalist eugenicist hacker and agreed to keep his identity a secret to publish a Zohran Mamdani hit piece” is a way bigger story than “18 year old Zohran Mamdani ticked ‘African American’ on his Columbia application because he was a citizen of Uganda”

This is a bit different from the usual comics but I hope you like it. We moved around a lot and it meant constantly being the new kid and never having a consistent friend group. I was very awkward and scared that I would never have friends so I did everything to try and fit in - generally meaning pretending to like everything someone else liked. It took me a while to figure out that it meant people didn’t actually get to know me and I would come off as fake or just end up lonely pretending to be someone I’m not. Something I learnt is that having different interests and opinions from your friends isn’t always a bad thing. Being honest to yourself is important. I’m still working on that, but I’ve gotten better.
