Hey there! My name is Beth! I’m a licensed esthetician and owner of Skin Care by the Sea specializing in clearing up acne and aging skin issues in Carmel, Ca. I love making my clients feel confident in their skin and seeing them smile big when they look in the mirror again. I've been working in the industry since 2013, but I started my own business last October because I always dreamed of having my own spa. I have a passion for skincare and love working with people. Unforeseen circumstances due to Covid19 forced me to make a few changes during this pandemic. I'm still in the same location as before, but I will now have my own luxurious room for my business within a Med Spa called Carmel Wellness and Aesthetics! I'm very excited to start this new chapter in my life and if all goes well, I should be able to begin working again in the beginning of August. I’m a huge believer in supporting other small female owned businesses. I’m actually part of a local organization of small businesses in the Monterey County where we network, do events, and find ways to contribute to entrepreneurship in the area. I have three wonderful children, two of which are legal adults...so I'm savoring these next two years before my youngest goes off to college. My family means the world to me. In my spare time I love to spend time with family and friends, dine at nice restaurants, walk by the ocean, watch funny movies, and read. Meet @glitterwaxcreations! Hello everyone! My name is Heather, aka The Mermaid Esty. I have been a licensed esthetician for 11 years. Waxing is truly my passion, I am a hard wax expert & only use hard wax. I also offer all skincare, lash extensions & microblading in the future. I have a mermaid themed spa in soquel, CA. I started my own business 2 years ago out of a room in my parents house. Moved into a small commercial space, then 6 months later outgrew it & moved into my 4 room spa now. . I created my brand @glitterwaxcreations to make the waxing experience much more fun for waxers & clients. @glitterwaxcreations is specialty glitter blends that are safe to add to any wax type or brand. We launched 1 week into quarantine in March but were doing great. . I love to teach, once SIP is lifted I will have in person hard wax training class but I am working on online options now. Meet @werk.that.beauty! Aloha Lovelies! My name is Tilo! I started off as a massage therapist and fell in love with the Hawaiian culture. This got me into Lomi-Lomi and Watsu styles of massage. To me in a way felt like "The Waves are calling my name". I wanted a spa dedicated to eastern medicine with an approach to western theory and research. It was called Mau Loa Tranquil Slumber Massage originally, but it seemed as though no one would have understood the origins and consider it to be quite long to say, especially in Chicagoland.. Later, I rebranded my name to Waves of Ohana. Then, I decided to pursue a nursing degree to equip myself with knowledge to better understand medicine in my pursuit of the holistic approach to beauty. My father was hospitalized and this drove me to take even better care of myself. Completed my masters in nursing and worked till this day at the Rush University Medical Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. As I kept helping others I looked back at some notes I had and felt as if I was missing a piece of me, and then it just hit me. Skincare, the purpose of beauty in your own skin, with or without makeup. Ever since this day, I've been searching and wanted to collaborate with people who shared the same passion as me. Meet @the_acne_clinic! Hi! 👋🏻 I’m Jamie, and I am a medical aesthetician in Florida specializing in treating acne. I always had a little bit of adult acne here and there starting in my early 20’s, but in 2017, it became unmanageable and completely embarrassing... especially because I was a model 😵 I went on a long journey trying to find the root cause of my inflamed hormonal acne while trying to avoid toxic Accutane. I had tried antibiotics, spironolactone, and various skincare products and NOTHING worked!! - After speaking to numerous esthetician’s and integrative doctors, I realized there were numerous pieces to the puzzle. I found out that a recent surgery had completely exhausted my adrenal glands, throwing all of my hormones out of whack. I was no longer producing progesterone on my own, which was actually also causing severe anxiety and the inability to gain weight. On top of all of this, I posses a few genetic mutations which don’t allow me to methylate properly, so I don’t absorb certain vitamins well and my system does not detoxify efficiently. All of these things can contribute to worsening acne. To make matters worse, I wasn’t taking the appropriate vitamins and herbs to help my system, I was using very pore clogging ingredients in my cosmetics and detergents, and I was constantly stressed which was making my skin erupt daily! 😩 - I found a clinic online who cleared my acne in a matter of a couple of weeks using good products and by making lifestyle changes. Meet @skinby.lizthetics! Hi, I’m Elizabeth 😊 My story has just begun, but I’d love to share my journey for future students who want to feel inspired and follow their dreams. I want to say last year around November, I was tired of paying for my services when I knew I could do it at home. I have been waxing my eyebrows since 6th grade due to having thick eyebrows as me being a Latina. I am now 21 years young, so I felt comfortable purchasing a waxing kit and doing small services on myself at home, which I did. I bought a waxing kit and just by watching professional videos and reading and doing research, I began to wax my underarms. I then felt inspired to look up beauty schools around my area. Which I ended up finding and in March I began my journey with aesthetics. I instantly felt in love with facials, back facials, high frequency and so much more that aesthetics has to offer. I personally have always gone to the salon growing up and getting pampered and feeling beautiful when I left. Becoming an aesthetician, that’s what I want to give my now clients and future clients. I want to offer them a professional service and my clients feeling knowledgeable about the services I’m doing for them and them taking it home and continuing their home regimen. Beauty continues to grow and I feel like it will always be there. I personally look up to Elizabeth Arden. She has accomplished so much all on her own. She believed in herself and she went for it. And she grew a company out of it and that what inspires me. And I love how males are starting to get into treatments and getting pampered. That’s the amazing part about beauty. Meet @marceyanna! I’ve been an esthetician for 2 years. I wanted to go to school initially for my love of makeup. I still love makeup but realized, skincare & makeup go hand in hand. I never new what a skincare routine prior entering school. Quickly I enjoyed waxing & skincare. I’ve explored almost every part of esthetics. Last summer of July, I lost my son to pre eclampsia at almost 8 months & I almost lost my life. I was on life support. I was EXTREMELY depressed. The beauty industry was the only thing that kept me sane! I needed the industry more than it needed me. Through my craft, I educate women & keep his name alive (his name was Sage) I love helping & meeting all different type of people, but especially women. Women are facing a lot on top of all the the crazy things life takes you through. I embrace and accept all women! My love for the beauty industry began as a young girl, as I was kicked out of kindergarten for giving the kids makeovers. As a young girl having PCOS I had more acne and facial hair than the typical girl. This is how I got into the beauty industry first with makeup. I used makeup to cover up what I didn’t want to be seen. Makeup was the only thing that helped my confidence, with makeup I felt beautiful and I loved helping others feel that way too. Meet @aestheticsbyshekinah! My name is Shekinah Garner, and I have been an Aesthetician for seventeen years. I truly believe Skincare to be my passion, I love what I do, and I think that shows in the level of care and attention to detail that I put into my work. . My interest in skincare was originally sparked because of challenges I was facing with my own skin. These issues were greatly improved with an at-home skincare regimen that was prepared for me by an Aesthetician, and through receiving regular treatments with her. The transformation I experienced was so significant, and my confidence improved so drastically. I thought “her job must be so rewarding to be able to change people’s lives like this!” . Through following her recommendations for products and treatments, I became obsessed with understanding ingredients and how they pertained to skin function. It began making perfect sense for me to explore this field of study and become a licensed Aesthetican... and I'm so glad I did! . Over the years I have worked in five-star hotel Spas, in busy Salon/Spa atmospheres, in Med Spas, and also most recently for a Dermatologist. I also am recognized as an international Aesthetician and trainer, and am excited to soon be launching certified Aesthetic courses which will be available worldwide. I plan on traveling to new places with the team I am building, and giving beautiful, result driven, memorable treatments. . I’m so thankful that I’m able to help others just as my Aesthetician helped me years ago. It gives me so much joy & fulfillment.
