MARCH 2014
Need a break from gigs. This is the only one I'm going to.
- This month is all about baseball. Dodgers v Diamondbacks opening weekend in Sydney!! While I don't go for either team (I will be cheering on the D-Backs), any chance to see a MLB game I'll take. Hopefully some good pitchers make the trip and find some excitement before they get here.
Other things happening..
- recorded a cover of a song by my favourite band with my best friends. But too scared for anyone to hear it!
- Sydney FC v Western Sydney next weekend. Always entertaining.
- Study
- my birthday

Tour Part 2: Wollongong and Sydney
I forgot to take photos and can't find any of us playing. Good job!
The second half of the tour was 31 Jan/1 Feb. After a sick day at work and a few slack days it was time to get back into it! Eves and I drove down to Wollongong after work. The Corrimal is an unpredictable place. Last time we played there the gig got broken up by police. This time crowd was poor, with only the bands plus a few extras. I had about zero energy and the sound was horrible. Not a pleasant experience. We drove back to Sydney after the gig and got home around 1am.
Saturday morning - our main EP launch in Sydney - the biggest gig on the tour. I woke up to a message saying our singer had been arrested. Great! I made a few calls but no one answered, so I went back to sleep. He also lost his phone in Brisbane, which makes communication slightly harder. Eventually we found out he wasn't locked up and would be at the gig. After moving gear around all afternoon I managed to fit in the most punk rock nap ever. Woke up at 8pm, drank a berocca, got a kebab and can of V, then a beer! My body hated me so much. But by the time I got to the warehouse I was full of energy, both real and artificial!
It was fun putting on a gig because I basically picked all my favourite bands. The first two are just starting out and were aright. Once The disadvantaged hit the stage things stepped up a notch. Then Swine were up! One of my favourite swine sets, I even got to play Shitlilst with them on GUITAR! I'm used to filling in on bass. Theeen it was time for our set! I was a little worried that I had drunk too much. But I think it went ok. We decided to do a Cap A Capo cover since Felix and Tome were there. I still don't remember how to play the song, but I don't think anyone noticed! Had a great response from everyone and I was blown away by the turnout.
I had so much energy after the gig I was up until 5am without drinking anything else. What a night.
I skipped over a lot of details, but that was our first little tour. I think we might do it again soon.
EDIT: found a photo of me playing in Wollongong haha..

On tour Part 1... 25-27 Jan 2014
January was a super fun month! At the end we did a little tour up to Byron Bay and Brisbane. My memories are of long drives and little sleep, but it was also the most fun I've had in a long time!!!
Day 1 - We met up at Luke's place and discovered his car was still in Marrickville from the night before... so we found his car, played band-tetris and hit the road. The drive was only 9 hours to Byron Bay!! We found the venue - The compound, and met up with the Flangipanis and the other bands playing that night. The guy who ran the Compound, Robbie, played in the first band Common Enemy, then Everything I own is Broken before Flangipanis and then us. It was a cool little venue and was fairly full! After our set we drove the rest of the way to Brisbane and crashed with the awesome guys from Scum Records.
Day 2- Sunday morning we got up early (10am) after not much sleep and headed into the city for a rally against the new biker laws in QLD. They are fucked and we learnt a lot. Weird seeing so many bikers without back patches. Weird those laws can be passes in this country.
In the afternoon we played a gig at Brew Brothers which is a micro-brewery with a room upstairs for bands. So many good bands played - Goon on the rocks, Flangipanis, Deputy Dipshit, EIOIB and us. Awesome turnout and great reaction from the Brisbane scene. Even sold a couple of t-shirts!
That night we all headed to the Valley to see Clowns, The Lost Cause, The Black Market Goon on the rocks and Flangipanis at the Crowbar Punk Rocker. Good times hanging out with everyone and seeing some great bands!
We got back to the house we were staying at around 1am and had an epic acoustic jam.. there was a lot of Against Me! and Rancid. Best sing-a-long bands.
Woke up around midday and started the long drive back to Sydney. Got home around midnight. I did not make it to work the next day!!!
Pic 1 - tourist photo at the big banana. Pic 2 - EIOIB at the Compound Pic 3 - Kerry from the Lost Cause (Knows how to party) Pic 4 - Deputy Dipshit at Brews Bros Pic 5 - Goon on the Rocks at Crowbar Pic 6 - Flangipanis (feat Riot Nine T-shirt) at crowbar Pic 7 - Eves and I in the car, hours of fun. Pic 8 - The biker rally in Brisbane. Pic 9 - My band (riot nine) at the Compound

Bought a bike.
It has started all new adventures. This was the first in January sometime with my buddy Luke. Need to make more time in my weekends for this. Spent an afternoon riding around Newtown, Sydenham and Marrickville. Rode to the end of the runway at Sydney airport and watched planes for a while (it was exactly like waynes world). Plotted ways to climb the water tower in Tempe and then followed the cooks river for a while.
Bikes are fucking awesome.
While you ride them you can sing songs by the Bennies - "I'm gonna ride my bike, wherever I fucking like!!!

GREEN DAY AT THE CAPTAIN COOK HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't want to sound like I'm bragging by posting this. I just got lucky. I'd been at the studio recording some stuff (a cover of my favourite band shh) and arrived home around 11pm.
The conversation with my housemate went like this: Lee: Did you just get home? Tim: Yep Lee: Do you care for Green Day Tim: Yep Lee: They are playing in 10 minutes in wooloomooloo (actually paddington) Tim: Let's go!!
So we jumped in the car and Lee looked up directions while I headed towards the city. I parked slightly illegally, with no time to spare. The bar was almost full and there was a short line. The security guard was told to stop letting people in, but told us to hurry in (what a hero).
It was so hot and sweaty and we waited about 20 minutes before they came on. The sound was awful up the back when they started so I made my way to the front. I only heard one girl say 'OMG Billie Joe' which has to be a record for a Green Day gig!!
The set list looked a bit like this:
99 Revolutions, Know You Enemy, Nice Guys Finish Last, Holiday, Stuck with Me, Burnout, Chump, Longview, Rusty James, Brain Stew, St. Jimmy and American Idiot as an encore.
By the end I was dripping from head to toe with mostly other peoples sweat. Well worth it. I never thought I'd see them play again, because I don't fancy paying $100 + to see them in a stadium. Now I feel like I can never see them again because it could never get better than last Thursday.
The same night Tom Morello was DJing at Franky's pizza. Sydney is a cool place sometimes!! I found out about that one the next day.

Oh shit I'm back...
I have neglected this blog for quiet some time... but I decided I need it. I need to appreciate the things I do a little more. Last week I got to see Green Day play in a pub with about 200 people in the room. It's still hard to comprehend!
It will follow the same pattern as before... gigs, and other fun things I experience. I'll keep the complaining to a minimum. Photos will be terrible as always, because even if I remember to take them, I suck at taking them.
Getting in the mood with some Unwritten Law

6 track album
I forgot to post this...
spent most of January working on this... mostly happy with how it came out!
Some of what's going on in the Sydney punk scene at the moment.. 4ZZZ in Brisbane compared us to Leftover Crack/Choking Victim which was very kind of them to say. There is a mix of songs - some with a bit of ska influence, others heavier, and then an acoustic version at the end for a bit of fun with our good friend Burdt singing.
We did a mini tour to Byron Bay, Brisbane, Wollongong and finished in Sydney for a big warehouse party to release it. One of the best nights ever!!
Recording a cover song this week for a bit of fun... I'll post it around 7 March... hmm I wonder what song it could be!

One of my favourite songs ever!
Once she came like a vision in the night I fell in love before the morning arrived She wore a blue dress to combat the heat, Drank beer from a bottle and danced in the street Then I heard her singing something fairly familiar A tale of two lovers in the thick of the summer There in the moment we kissed in a hammock We argued over which Bad Religion album was better I thought No Control or Suffer Then she became queen of the neighborhood parties While I was an unknown boy along for the ride Kept the guitar right by my side It was better than conversing with the kids I didn’t like But on the fourth of July as the fireworks rang out She met a new boy who was more hip and less strung out I drove home with fire in the sky Fiddled with the dials and stumbled across something that you were always humming

MY 2013 MUSIC REFLECTION. It's my opinion so back off!
Truth is I didn't like much that came out this year. Slightly depressing...
Firstly, favourite song: Anti-Flag - Bring Out Your Dead (Acoustic). Really fucking dig it. So powerful, so awesome. Not even *new*.
Now for three albums that caught my attention and kept it.
1. SWINE - Self-titled.
The are really good friends of mine and its crazy they released my favourite album of the year. I was even lucky enough to fill in and play bass for them on Friday night. One of the highlights of my year, especially when I was rocking out behind Burdt when he decided to pour a beer over himself/me. It's hard to play when your bass is covered in beer! Good times. Do yourself a favour and download the album. Hell even swing the lads a few dollars for their efforts! They also have a song called Die Hipster Die... every band should.
http://swineband.bandcamp.com
2. World's Scariest Police Chases - NOFX and out come the wolves dookie
Firstly, best album name ever. I first heard it when I was in Philly getting tattooed by the amazing Mike Ski. He got an email or something about it and mentioned it, but didn't say who the band was... a few months later I saw it get realised and connected the dots. good story tim. Anyway, yes this album is great, I still laugh when I listen to it. Not enough good punk around at the moment.
3. Clowns - I'm Not Right
Great album, only disappointing there weren't more new songs.. the title tracks off their 3 EPs were on the album, so only really 7 new songs, but they were epic. Saw them play twice this year, once at the Townie, then at Blackwire records. Too much fun.
Other worthy mentions that I have given enough time to listen to are Dave Hause, Flatliners, Frank Turner, Transplants (it was surprisingly good). Albums I'm glad I didn't spend any money on... AFI (so depressing I wanted to kill myself after one listen), Avenged Sevenfold (oh wait I bought that.. fuck! some cool riffs, but not my thing anymore)
Cool. Thats my new year thing done.
So much peer pressure to go out and get fucked up... I'm feeling a few quiet beers in Newtown and see where it takes me.
living by the this slogan tonight:
NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENT!
Fuck new years.
See you in 2014.
Resolution: GET FIT. The park across the road taunts me. just bought a bike. gonna ride it.
