urgh medicine is a passion of mine i just have to not get ahead of myself and start going straight into medical jargon

wait no, i asked my sister (that deal with my vld and is a doctor) and her assestment is: Keith - General surgeon . Lance - plastic surgery, Shiro - pediatric/pediatric surgery , Adam - pediatric icu , Allura - internist , Coran - psychiatrist, hunk orthopedic and trauma surgeon, and Pidge - radiology (and she also gave me the detailed version on why each one uwu thank u )

HOW CAN U SAY THESE ARE DOCTOR VALIDATED AND NOT PROVIDE THE DETAILS 😩

Anyways i love it!! Inch resting that lance is plastics, though I can see it—everyone thinks it’s very superficial and boob jobs but you can do so much good with reconstructive surgery 🥲

how do yall think that keith and lance meet for the first time?

it definitely happens during a trauma call. lance has braced himself for a long night because he hears that keith kogane, the surgery resident, is on call and loves to bicker and complain about how slow the EM residents are with managing the trauma patients that come in

but weirdly enough, it’s been a busy and hectic night but lance is working really well with this tall but broody surgery resident who doesn’t bother to take his mask off before running the patients off to surgery. and around 5am things slow down and lance gets the chance to shoot the breeze with this surgery resident. he mentions that he was expecting the night to be a “nightmare, because i heard keith kogane was on call and he’s a total, utterly complete asshole! he paged me five times in two minutes for one patient, can you believe that?” 

and the surgery resident furrows his brows, takes off his mask, and lance is like oh, shit, he’s cute--and the resident goes

“I thought my page hadn’t gone through...and you think I’m an asshole???”

Keith has major cocky surgeon energy you’re absolutely right. And I kind of want to say Lance is a doctor of internal medicine and he knows enough about a lot of different things (Jack of all trades, yknow?) and he butts heads with Keith because of their different approaches to medicine. Shiro as chief of medicine? Or maybe Allura would be, though I honestly see her as an oncologist

Ooooo i love IM lance and surgery keith—though i feel like they don’t cross paths as much as I expected, besides consults—but lmao at the thought of lance consulting keith via paging/the phone all the time for patients needing surgery and when they finally meet in the ICU, keith is like “who r u”

Consider: Coran the overly enthusiastic medical examiner down in the morgue. Also the image of Adam giving Keith shit (and before him, Shiro) in the OR is 👌💯💯 Adam's love language is scolding

About the hospital AU! Here's my take: Keith = trauma surgeon, Shiro = retired trauma surgeon, Lance = ER physician or pediatrician, Hunk = orthopedic surgeon, Allura = neurologist, neurosurgeon or heart surgeon, Coran = psychiatrist, Adam = anesthesist, and Pidge... I'm not sure. Microbiologist? Immunologist? Prosthetist-orthotist? Neurosurgeon? The possibilities seem endless 🤔 Alternatively, I could see Keith and Lance as a team of paramedics

Pidge is definitely some MD PhD researching something no one else understands!! I could totally see her as immunology or maybe hematology/oncology. Allura is def the levelheaded neurologist running code strokes (or an interventional cardiologist that manages heart attack patients so it’s funny that you mentioned cardiac surgery)

I think I like the dynamic of EM Lance seeing trauma surgery Keith while they’re both on call 🥺 they make a good team and Lance would absolutely excel at both cheering up kids with Legos stuck up their nose and staying calm when a trauma comes in....but I also love pediatrician Lance being adorable with his little kid patients

this morning NASA abandoned their mars rover Opportunity (aka Oppy) because it (she) got hit by a storm on Mars and it knocked her camera and wheels out and her last words to the team were “my battery is low and it is getting cold”. I know she’s a machine but I’m devastated. Oppy is the one who discovered water on Mars. RIP oppy ily space baby

wow I can’t wait to be back in clinic, having too many days off while still having work-from-home project deadlines stresses me out way more than being fully busy during the week
