Malthus spent the entirety of his life trying to fulfill his mother's prophecy of having a son that was a saint; he was raised by a priest who spent his entire life trying to offer a saint to God; everything that he has done was for the sake of others and their happiness, not his. Hilda was basically the only thing that he decided for himself, the single thing that he wanted, yet he was forced to deny himself of her; he felt guilty and hurt himself, due to the ideals that he was manipulated to believe in; he refused to give in to his humanly desires.
It's kind of silly how he wanted to perform a miracle by exorcising her so he could finally be a saint, but unknowingly Hilda's existence itself was the miracle—the only person who actually taught him what it means AND how it feels to be human—the angel who opened his eyes and made him love humanity, “I look at her shoe and I love the world.” She still was the miracle, although it's not how he intended it to be, but it's what he needed the most.
You're impossibly fast. And strong. Your skin is… pale white, and ice cold. Your eyes change color… and sometimes you speak like - like you're from a different time. You never eat or drink anything; you don't go into the sunlight. How old are you? Seventeen. How long have you been seventeen? …a while. I know what you are. Say it… out loud. Say it. Vampire.
"If I'm singing Something I'm thinking of George - of him playing the ukulele. I've got pictures of his up at the back. Similarly with John and Linda. In a way you are in contact with them again through the songs. In a way I'm revisiting them. It's sad and emotional. There's a song I do called Here Today which is specifically written for John. That sometimes catches me out - and it does on this film. I realise I'm telling this man that I love him and it's like I'm publicly declaring this in front of all these people I don't know. I sometimes wonder what I'm doing." -Paul, The Sun, 2009 (Source link X)
I have this fictional person in my mind, who is Luigi and he owns a restaurant. He has this alcove in the middle of the restaurant...and he needs a painting. He has asked me, "Please, Mr. Blendini, please make a painting for Luigi's alcove." So I always think, "This is for Luigi"
Eu estou com medo desse ano, infelizmente estou penando em algumas coisas. E estou com muito medo real. Enfim, não quero falar sobre aqui. Pelo menos não agora, mesmo que ninguém veja
