lottie grinned a little too brightly as kingsley approached her. the brunette grinned brightly as the other mentioned a sleepover. "well i think that was absolutely obvious." she hummed. "i'll let my people get with your people and we'll figure out a day."

charlotte anxiously played with her fingers as she shrugged. "yeah.. I know. but things were like.." she huffed out a breath and chuckled softly. "you know, we will talk about him and my bad decisions another night. tonight is about you and me and getting another tequila in my hand."

as emma opened up about rhodes, lottie couldn't help the bright, mischievous grin. "you're fuckin jokin ! the hot business guy ?? always in the bakery bugging theo ?? holy fuck." this would be the thing lottie talked about for the rest of the night. she would literally forget everything that came before this. "okay, first of all.. how'd that happen ? is he just as hot as he looks or like..??"

charlotte  truly  makes  her  feel  like  herself  again.  it  feels  like  she's  finally  home,  not  just  because  she's  in  palmview,  but  because  she's  with  her  best  friend.  a  laugh  easily  falls  from  her  mouth  at  charlotte's  remark.  “  maybe  we  should  have  a  sleepover  at  your  place  or  mine  anytime  soon,  you  know,  to  catch  up  on  things.  or  just  do  nothing,  really.  i  don't  mind.  ”  emma  just  wants  to  make  up  for  the  time  she's  not  around  and  spends  more  time  with  her  friend. she  pays  attention  when  charlotte  speaks,  finding  herself  smiling  when  she  heard  about  the  interaction  between  her  and  apollo.  “  i  wouldn't  be  surprised  by  that.  you  do  seem  like  you  would  stay  friends  with  an  ex.  not  that  it's  a  bad  thing,  yeah  ?  ”  personally,  emma  wouldn't  know.  she's  not  big  on  relationships,  doesn't  think  keeping  an  ex  around  is  a  good  idea,  but  maybe  her  friend  is  onto  something  here. when  charlotte  grabs  her  hand  excitedly  to  hear  about  the  tea,  she  couldn't  help  but  laugh  at  her  reaction.  emma  leans  closer,  as  if  to  tell  a  secret.  “  you  know  rhodes  ?  ”  she's  never  mentioned  about  him  to  charlotte  before,  didn't  have  a  reason  to,  but  now  she  surely  does.  “  rhodes  shephard.  yeah,  that's  who,  ”  she  admits,  a  smug  smile  on  her  face.

for the first time in a long time, things feel normal again. of course, there was a little twinge of something in the back of lottie's chest that they'd probably eventually have to address, but for now, she was just happy to have her best friend back. "oh shut up.. i'll catch you up eventually. Its just a lot... and we're in public." she laughed, shaking her head.

she bit down on her lip, shrugging softly as the other asked about her interaction with apollo. "i dunno. i haven't gone out of my way to really see him or talk to him after the break up so.. it was weird. i didn't know how he'd react and whatever.. he was nice, but.. i fuckin asked if he'd want to try the whole friend thing." she made a face, shrugging. "dont know where it came from, but there's that."

as soon as the other mentioned getting herself into a situation, the brunette grabbed the other's hands excitedly. "who did you do ??"

it's  safe  to  say  that  charlotte  is  the  only  person  she  trusts  in  her  life,  someone  that  she's  afraid  to  lose,  although  the  way  emma  ended  things  in  los  angeles  might  have  proved  otherwise.  she  knows  she  still  owes  charlotte  an  apology  either  way,  but  for  now  she  just  wants  to  keep  her  friend  close  for  the  rest  of  the  night.  “  right,  that  was  so  greedy  of  me  to  make  you  tell  me  everything  all  at  once.  my  bad,  ”  emma  says,  followed  by  a  laugh.  “  oh,  really  ?  what  makes  it  that  much  interesting,  huh  ?  tell  me  more  about  it,  ”  she  teases.  “  well,  yeah,  i've  gotten  myself  into  some  hot  situation.  ”  emma  gives  charlotte  a  knowing  look,  couldn't  resist  biting  her  lower  lip  at  the  thought  before  she  chuckles.

"wait a damn minute. you're telling me i could've already had a drawer at your place ?!" she teased, poking her bottom lip out at the other. "shit and i've been just overpacking for nothing then." lottie hummed softly, raising her drink back up to her lips and taking a small sip. "hey, how many people do you think are going to reach out to you about some type of apology something ??"

"well, it was always worth a shot," theo surrenders with a chuckle. "i totally get that. although, i'm sure if you fluttered your eyelashes, you could get any man to carry all your stuff for you. but, i get it-- it's nice to just... be." theo had never considered herself to be a creature of habit, but she could see how it would be easy to be one. staying put was infinitely easier than going anywhere else. "oh, i'll even dedicate a whole drawer to you if that's what it takes to get you over."

lottie sunk back in her seat, her smile still across her lips as she shrugged and glanced over at the other. "apollo, life is weird.. if you think about it, no one owes anyone anything." she hummed. "but anyway." her eyes scanned his face, trying to figure out how he felt speaking to her. "im gonna sound like a fuckin kindergartener.. is.. would it be weird or a definite no to try the whole friend thing ? you can be honest."

it's both surprising and not that charlotte still keeps in touch with his sister. his sisters were better communicators than he, and definitely better people. they could get along with anyone, and despite the fact that apollo raised them, they didn't really care for his opinions on their friendships. even if he was the one to introduce them. "you've thrown a lot of words at me that i don't quite understand-- can't even get a good picture in my head. i'll send out an sos tonight and maybe one of the girls can get me a good picture."

it was weird, being so open with someone outside of dance. everyone he'd ever danced with knew the story of his mom and her unfortunate fall from grace ( thanks to apollo, no less ), so it was just... different to get a clean slate. him and charlotte never got far enough for him to divulge anything about the famous na-ri, and maybe it was better that way. and, although his sisters loved embarrassing him, their mother was a pretty sour spot for all of them. "i guess i kind of owe you that at least, don't i?" he feels it best to omit the rest of his sentence ( for being such a shitty boyfriend ), but he hopes it's implied.

i fuckin missed you so much. it was an honest relief to hear the words come out of the other's mouth. charlotte squeezed emma's arms softly before dropping her hands. there was no point in wasting time with awkward conversations and trying to figure out where things went wrong. lottie was not willing to let a whole childhood worth of memories to go down the toilet for one stupid fight. she wrapped both arms around emma's as they stepped in toe. "there's literally so much, however i am not in the proper tea spilling headspace." she hummed. "i will say that i bumped into apollo tonight and that was interesting as hell. gotten yourself into anything ???"

truthfully,  emma  has  prepared  herself  for  the  worst  case  scenario  when  it  comes  to  this,  so  when  charlotte  suddenly  greets  her  with  a  hug  she  almost  doesn't  know  what  to  do.  still,  she  wraps  her  arms  around  charlotte  back  and  embraces  her  tightly,  her  remark  causing  emma  to  laugh  in  ease  before  they  pull  back  from  the  hug.  why  the  fuck  does  this  feel  so  surreal  ?  “  i  fuckin'  missed  you  so  much,  ”  she  admits,  a  look  of  relief  washes  over  her  face.  for  a  split  second  emma  wonders  if  now's  the  right  time  for  an  apology,  but  then  charlotte's  words  remind  her  that  maybe  she  can  do  it  another  time.  “  i'm  so  glad  to  see  you  too,  lottie,  ”  she  reaches  out  to  link  her  arm  with  charlotte's,  smiles  a  little  too  much  now  that  she's  with  her  best  friend  again.  “  so  tell  me,  what  have  i  been  missing  ?  you  got  anything  interesting  going  on  with  your  life  ?  anything  you're  dying  to  tell  me  ?  come  on,  spill  the  fuckin'  tea.  i'm  so  ready  to  hear  about  it  all.  ”

"serra, i'm convinced you could roll around in dirt and make it look good." charlotte laughed, shaking her head. "we really are just the hottest ones out here." she joked, bright grin on her lips. "everyone else should just go home. forget trying."

happily, lottie follows the other with almost a skip in her step. "hmm ?? oh, his name is nolan." she offered, small smile on her lips. "he's come with me to a few events and such. super sweet, you'd like him." taking serra's hands in her own she beams. "how about you ?? did you come with anyone ??"

serra's smile brightens as she soaks in the validation she craves. "really? i'm all sweaty and gross from volleyball. i should probably go to the bathroom and freshen up soon." she says, compliment fishing. "i looove all of this," she gushes, her voice dripping with affection, not able to take her eyes off her glowing friend. she squeezes charlotte's arms before letting go, hands now free to gesticulate as necessary.

"perfect," serra leads the way to the dance floor, "so, who are you with tonight?" she asks casually, knowing the answer, but curious about the connection.
