The Garden: A Legacy Challenge Version 2

Updated for Seasons

Hi guys, and welcome to my first ever Legacy Challenge! I spent an hour or so writing this up quickly because I was feeling creative! I hope this challenge might seem fun to some of you, fun enough to pick it up and play it! Please tag me if you’re starting it, and use the tag #garden legacy if you post pics! So, without further delay, here we go!

The Garden Legacy Challenge is a challenge carried out across 10 generations of your Sims family of choice. This introduction to the challenge can only be used as a guideline if you wish, as I’d love for you to express your creativity by using this as a template. Please, sit back, relax and enjoy playing the game! :)

Rules:

Money Cheats are NOT allowed

Aesthetic CC and poses are FINE

Needs must be on decay AT ALL TIMES

Feel free to pause ageing ONLY FOR STORY PURPOSES

Your Sims must live on the SAME LOT for the whole 10 generations. A larger lot is recommended

Any world is fine

You may edit what your Sims look like in CAS if they fugly

Information:

Your entire 10 generations will be named after various plants you could find or have in your garden. This is inspired by the fact that your Sims will have a love for nature throughout all 10 generations, living their life on the family farm. Each generation also has a berry colour in case berry simmers would like to enjoy the challenge too!

Generation 1: ROSE

Traits: Ambitious, Loves the Outdoors, Vegetarian

Aspiration: Freelance Botanist

Berry Colour: Red

Information: This is the founder of your legacy! From living their entire childhood in the smelly and loud city, they have decided to begin a new lifestyle in the countryside. They dream of running a farm to support the generations to come.

Rules:

Compete the Aspiration

Have at least 2 children

Have 1 dog and 1 cat

Collect every base game plant

Reach level 10 of the Gardening career

Care for at least 2 cowplants throughout your life

Max out the friendship level with at least one bee hive

Reach level 10 of the gardening skill

Reach at least level 5 in: cooking, parenting and handiness

Traits: Outgoing, Good, Self Assured

Aspiration: Friend of the World

Information: You grew up in a loving household, making you a friendly and nurturing Sim who wants nothing else than to help others.

Information: You were always the class clown, getting in trouble all the time. You pulled endless amounts of pranks on your siblings and parents. You never want to grow up.

Information: You always felt like your were second best to your twin (whether this is true or not is up to you). You often spent time burring your head in books, learning lots of different things, but never mastering them.

Information: You finally decide that your family is worth more than living on a farm forever. It’s time for your legacy to move on. You want to move out into a penthouse in the city and create an exciting future for generations to come.

Reach level 10 in the Business Career

Reach level 10 in 3 skills of your choice

Throw a party every weekend + every holiday

The generation (and challenge!) finished once you have completed the rules to generation 10! It’s up to you if you continue by moving your Sim to San Myshuno or stop there! ♡ Hey there! I've been super into doing legacy challenges lately but, I thought it would be fun to create my own!

It's mostly for personal use but, I decided that sharing it wouldn't hurt. Just in case someone else is looking for something new to try.

(Nothing is Mandatory, everything can be altered to your liking, it's just a basis for trying new interactions, careers and gameplay)

I will try to keep all gameplay to expansion packs and some game packs! I also recommend LONG lifespan if you actually plan to complete all tasks without a rush.

You prefer to be a loner as you have attachment issues and struggle to keep friendships. Lucky for you, you find it easier to communicate with animals! Through your time sleeping on benches and showering in gym restrooms, you see many stray animals in need of medical care! You've found a new calling! Allow these animals to live happy healthy lives!

♡ Traits: Loner/Animal Enthusiast/Cheerful

♡ Complete the "Friend of the Animals" Aspiration

♡ Start a "Live in Vet Clinic" with your savings and expand as you income grows!

Thinking about attempting this legacy challenge!

Into the Forest Legacy Challenge

Think about the forest: how each tree stands tall and proud, a singular force amidst the rough and unforgiving terrain. However, what we don’t see is how each tree is connected. Underneath the ground, invisible to our eyes, lies a complex network of roots all interconnected and sharing their same story of life—and death—as the forest grows. This legacy challenge is much like this, where each individual stands tall on their own. However, we will have their roots exposed, and we get to see firsthand how some roots nourish and others infect. This is the “Into the Forest,” challenge.

Rules of the challenge: complete all challenge rules, ALL aspirations must be completed (careers usually as well, but some are generation-specific), genders are never specific unless actually specified, and remember to have fun! tag #forestlegacy if you play this challenge and show me your sims!

When it comes to sim design, I know a lot of people like to have a color scheme (as do I) so I kind of tried to associate the generational color to the appropriate leaf and tree colors. I included the main color I used for each sim in the description but you are free to do whatever you wish with these sims, as this is your challenge and your opportunity to have some fun!

Shoutout to my dear friends Kirstin (Nukaw0lf), tavi (mushroomwhims), boo (simsbooo) and the rest of the discord for all of your help with making this challenge a reality!! I love you guys!

Aspiration: Fabulously Wealthy Career: None/Odd Jobs Traits: Noncommittal, High Maintenance, Romantic Color Association: White

You grew up with the perfect life, literally. Born to two wealthy, beautiful and successful entrepreneurs, you lived a life where your only worries consisted of which party you had to attend to next and whose bed you would be residing in that night. You’ve been surrounded by success, entertained by only the highest social circles. But all good dreams must come to an end. Your parents have given you an ultimatum: either graduate from college as a doctor or lose your inheritance. What’s a sim to do?

Being an adult is hard, however, and hardly ever goes as planned. Your partying lifestyle eventually catches up to you, and after a drunken night out with your best friends you end up having a stranger’s child. Now alone with an unwanted baby, your desperation becomes inspiration. You’ll show your parents you never needed to become a doctor. -master the violin skill, painting skill, and knitting skill (you can choose a different skill of your own choosing if you don’t have the pack) -start off in college working on a biology degree -make at least 2 good friends with at least one “negative” personality trait, party with them at least once every weekend as a young adult. -throw at least one party where your sim has 3 first kisses within the event (for funsies lole) -complete at least one week of university (or work) before having a one night stand that results in a daughter (you can cheat for this, and if you’re playing as a sim that can’t get pregnant, you can impregnate another sim and raise the child alone.) -live in an apartment for your entire YA life -have at least 2 children as a young adult that you are not close with, but your third and all others you have as an adult will have high friendship as they are considered a “planned” pregnancy (high friendship, high romance with partner/spouse). this child is your favorite. and it’s blatant. -marry the parent of the third child and move out of your apartment and into a home. no specifications on the build but think of it as your “white picket fence” moment.

Aspiration: Soulmate Career: Education Traits: Gloomy, Neat, Unflirty Color Association: Orange

Born to a parent whose social life was more important than the lives they made at home and another whom you never knew, stability was a nonexistent luxury you have always craved. You are unfortunately also the eldest daughter to a single parent, meaning you were the free babysitter. You smother your siblings in love and affection but can’t help but resent your parent for forcing you to give up your childhood years to play mommy. You barely had time to have your first kiss! You would dream of finding a love worth working for, secure and patient and warm, and you would recant these stories to your enraptured audience of baby brothers and sisters.

Your parent settling down finally gives you the opportunity for a new beginning. But maintaining relationships outside of the home is now a foreign concept, and the world can be a cold and cruel place. With the few relationships you were able to salvage as a youth, you slowly etch out an existence for yourself that is uniquely yours. You find the love and patience you gave your siblings translates really well into your new career and you turned cooking meals from a chore into a healthy and productive hobby. Now that your life is finally in your control, maybe it’s time to rekindle that broken dream and find your true love?

Aspiration: Renaissance Sim Careers: Retail, Culinary, Tech Guru Traits: Genius, Lazy, Noncommittal Color Association: Light Pink

To say you’ve never had a worry in your life wouldn’t actually be an overstatement. Growing up in a loving home to parents who were able to provide for your every need made you a little more than spoiled, to say the least. You’re grateful, though, from the bottom of your little heart, and want nothing more than to prove to your parents that they raised a champion. You dive head-first into every project that sparks an interest to you but find that your focus dwindles and you can only absorb so much. It’s not that you’re unfocused, it’s just that there is SO much else to learn! People just can’t understand the life of a professional hobbyist.

This habit translates into your social and professional lives eventually, leading to a series of failed jobs and (even more heartbreakingly) failed relationships. You’re a smart cookie, however, and know that persistence is key. You will sow the seeds of greatness.

-Master 0 skills for sim’s entire lifespan (skills with only 5 levels are allowed) and never max out a career in your life -Have level 8 in at least 10 skills -Have 3 failed relationships as a Teen/YA, marriage is optional for this generation but if you choose to marry it must be no earlier than as an adult -Move once as a YA, and then again as an Adult -Must have twins (can cheat for this) -Obsessively play one non-skill building activity (like darts or foosball) because you would totally be a professional at something that had no value lmao

Aspiration: World-Famous Celebrity Career: Actor/Actress Traits: Good, Creative, Loner Color Association: Purple

Some labors of love bear bitter fruit, as you have come to witness with your own two eyes. Born to chaos, you couldn’t even take your first breath without being outshone by the other sibling in the room. It didn’t take long for them to realize they could steal your spotlight easily, and because they were rotten to the core, they delighted in your misery with every opportunity they took to do so. It didn’t help that your parents were busy with their latest fads and flights of fancy, even with the ample love and education they provided you. There really wasn’t any other choice BUT to enjoy being alone.

Your perceived invisibility breeds a lot of resentment, and you vow from a young age to break out of your shell the moment you can. So you plot, and plan, and create in your own little world, waiting for the day you can stake your claim to fame. The life of a wallflower is just not for you!

Aspiration: The Curator Career: None Traits: Loves the Outdoors, Hot-Headed, Materialistic Color Association: Hot Pink

Sure, you are happy that your parents got to follow their dreams and find fame. You could even say that you appreciate the fruits of their labor, given the excess with which you hoard your treasures. However, not once has anyone in this house asked if you shared that dream of the spotlight. Because if they had, they would know that all you want is to spend your time in the dirt, hunting for frogs and finding treasure. You long for the simplicity of a hands-on existence, building your own calluses as your pave out your way.

Much like a dragon, you have spent your years amassing piles of priceless artifacts that you lovingly refer to as treasure. From gemstones to friendships, you have meticulously curated your entire existence out of the spotlight. Some might call you a perfectionist, others a micro-manager, but you would call yourself a sim who knows exactly what they want. This is YOUR claim to obscurity.

-make money exclusively from the duplicate items you collect. believe me when I tell you, you will have enough money lmao. -Must breed frogs for your entire life, collecting all 25 frogs is not required but if you enjoy the challenge I recommend adding that to your list of requirements -Master the fishing skill -Collect ALL 15 fossils and ALL 20 crystals -Have a trophy room that contains all of your collectables because you really do deserve to enjoy the fruits of your labor -Have a high school sweetheart and marry that high school sweetheart -When you have children, enforce a strict curfew and ensure they all have good grades in school

Aspiration: Bodybuilder Career: Doctor Traits: Active, Self-Absorbed, Kleptomaniac Color Association: Red

Perfection is something that is often sought after, but rarely achieved. However, with the advantages that you were given in life—a stable, loving home and a strict regiment—you would be bereft to admit that you are working your way towards your ideal life. And a sound mind, a solid body, and a steady job are the rewards you have sown. The world is your oyster, literally, and everything you grab on to is yours for the taking. And if you rub a couple people the wrong way in your pursuit of perfection, then that is just the unfortunate consequence of success. Not everyone will be able to appreciate the hard work of those who strive for greatness.

So when life throws you a major wrench in the form of a certain annoying sim, you find that your perfect focus begins to dwindle. And, soon enough, you find yourself falling in love. Will this newfound revelation be enough to humble your ever-growing ego? Can you find yourself settling down with someone who is your total opposite, mind, body, and soul? Will they ever let you fish for compliments again?

Unfortunately, that means someone you love needs to die. It just so happens that it has to be your high school sweetheart, devoured mind, body, and soul by your precious pet cowplant. This—understandably—has a deep and profound effect on your worldview. Death becomes an obsession, and you find yourself enamored with the world that lies beyond the veil.

Befriending the dead is a lonely venture, unfortunately, and you eventually find yourself longing for the company of those whose bodies are a little more warm. While on your quest to figure out how to appreciate life, you take to meditation as a form of therapy. This self-reflection leads to revelations, and the humans you have shunned are suddenly a lot more interesting. Can you salvage your life before you join your friends in death?

It comes as no surprise that having a parent as obsessed with death as yours has had immeasurable influence on your perception of humanity. In a cold world inhabited by murderers, philanderers, and all kinds of unsavory folk you find yourself afraid, and that fear breeds a hatred for your fellow man. There has to be someone who can stand up to all the injustice in the world, and if that someone has to be you, then screw the consequences. The path to justice makes few friends along the way, but that never bothered you much. You’ve always had your furry friends to keep you company on the days where the world feels foreign and hostile, and you dote on them with all the care of a loving parent.

And that was the length of your parental instinct, as there was no way in hell you could possibly bring another life into a world so cold. In your mind there would be no crueler fate, and those who bore those children were committing a selfish act. So it gives you great pause when, suddenly, you find yourself in love (with a married sim, no less. with kids, no less). Cue the drama.
