     “      i have heard of coven-specific rituals   &&.   whatnot.      those are pretty common.      i was never part of a coven,      so i never really got to participate in any rituals.      ”      she explained,      shifting in her seat to tilt her head at the other.      “      what was being in a coven like   ?      my mother,      father   &&.   i were just on our own in this little shop.      ”

✧          She pauses briefly before letting out a sigh.   “ ... It was nice, I guess. I liked being part of something larger than myself. "   She gestures vaguely.   “ I can’t really speak for all covens since I’ve only ever been in the one, but it probably wasn’t much different from just learning magic from your family. ”

     “      exchanging a piece of you to gain eternal life.  .  .      i’ve never heard of something like that.      ”      sure she had heard of giving the soul of oneself to a demon in exchange for witch status,      but she never heard of giving a body part.      it was intriguing.      with all of the books she had read,      she had never come across such information.      “      i’m not sure i’d ever be willing to do anything of the sort.      ” 

✧          “ It was pretty standard practice for newbies in the S— or, well, the coven I was in at the time. ”   She places her index finger to her chin and mulls it over. Now that she thinks of it, she really hasn’t heard about anyone outside the Sovereignty doing anything similar.   “ I guess it must’ve been specific to us. ”

《🌺》       She would quickly follow, grabbing her muffin and starting to question a little more - having a familiar sounded awesome! “Your cat can drive?! That sounds so awesome, what the heck! Now I really want a familiar!”

Holding her hand tightly, she follows her and looks at the RV, inspecting it; it didn’t seem like much on the outside, but she was certain that inside lay a plethora of options for her to explore. And there was the cat in the window, which she frantically waves to. “Kitty! Hey, kitty!”

✧           “ Well, she’s not always a cat, ”   she says in a matter-of-fact tone, as if it made any sense.   “ And, well, not... legally, but... ”   She puts a finger to her lips.   “ Nobody really believes she exists, so it’s easy to get away with. ”

✧           She opens the door and gestures inside. The interior seemed much bigger than the outside, and each wall was notably lined with shelves and cabinets full of bottles. A mauve cat with bull-like horns greets her at the doorway, meowing loudly.   “ So, ladies first! ”

《🌺》       “I’ll think about it.”, she declared with a newfound smile. She wouldn’t even know what kind of animal companion she would have, come to think of it… perhaps a frog or a raven. She would only know once she gave it a go, though!

“Drive me home?” She thought about it a moment, but seeing as they had some time to kill once they got out of here, she accepted. “Sure thing!” Now, she was eager. She picked up her cup of tea and chugged the whole thing down as quick as she could, letting out a relieved sigh.

✧           “ I- really? ”   She’s somewhat surprised that had worked.   “ I mean, yeah, cool! I can show you my alchemy- er, potion making equipment, if I can get Cal to drive. ”   Charm hops down from her seat, grabbing Kristina’s hand excitedly.   “ Come on! ”

✧           She leads her date out into the parking lot of the cafe, taking a moment to look around before finally spotting her RV, the silhouette of a cat visible in the rear window. She lets go of the other’s hand and points to it.   “ It’s that one. That’s Cal in the window, I think she’s getting kind of impatient. ”

《🌺》       “Demons?” She seemed a little let down, but it still seemed very intriguing, the concept of a familiar. “Still! A little animal helper should be pretty cool, right? You must tell me more sometime!”

With another sip of her tea, she continues to eagerly listen. She’s still a little disappointed at they didn’t have the same idea of witchcraft, but she took it as a learning opportunity. Besides that, there was a little bit of weird wording in that sentence, but she just shrugged it off. “Yeah! I would love for you to show me what you do, Charmy!”

✧           Charm, picking up on the other’s disappointment, purses her lips slightly in thought.   “ I mean, I guess others have a different definition of familiars. I think sometimes it is genuinely an animal companion, ”   she offers.

✧           She finishes off her coffee with a sigh, clicking her tongue absentmindedly.   “ I mean, it’s still pretty early in the day, and my shop is parked pretty close by, if you really wanted I could, like... ”   She trails off again as she tries to think of a good end to the sentence.   “ ...drive you home...? ”

《🌺》       She gasps, turning more enthusiastically towards her, gripping her shoulders and facing her full-on. “No way! You have a familiar? That sounds sooooo cool! I wanna familiar, you need to teach me how to get one!”

Her eyes were practically sparkling as she spoke about her aspect of witchcraft, and she had to pause for a minute. Compared to her, her field of magic seemed so much more… well, mundane. Backing down a little, she let go of her. “Oh, um… it’s just WIccan-style witchcraft. I make sigils, and I cast spells with the ashes of herbs and by making tea, stuff like that. I’d love to learn about your kind of witchcraft, though!”

✧           She grimaces slightly and turns her gaze elsewhere.   “ Yeah, but I don’t think you’d really want one. You know how demons are. ”   She waves around mug of coffee to accentuate her point.

✧           “ That sounds really cool though! I didn’t know witchcraft could be a religious practice until a hundred or so years ago. ”   She laughs a bit at her own ignorance.   “ I’m not a great teacher honestly, but I’d be happy to answer any questions you have! It’d probably be easier if I could show you, though. ”

《🌺》       “Yay!”, she cheered with a little giggle at the comment about her roommate. She was wondering if she’d ever be able to relate to that… “Hey, well- I wanna study music at college in the future, maybe one day we can both complain about our roommates!”

“You just gotta tell me about the kinds of potions you make! I’ve never delved into that aspect of witchcraft before!”, she eagerly pressed, arm pulling her figure closer to her. In the meantime, she used her free hand to take a sip of her tea, letting out a hum of satisfaction. “Mm! This is some really nice tea!”

✧           Charm snickers, covering her mouth with her hand.   “ Sorry, I don’t mean to laugh, but Cal is actually my cat. Or, well, familiar, but that’s a story for another time. ”   She waves her hand dismissively. 

✧           “ Well, I try to make potions for pretty much everything. I’m incredibly indecisive so I never really did pick a specialization... ”   She trails off, followed by another sip of coffee.   “ Oh, but enough about me, what about your brand of witchcraft? ”
